I Kill to Get All SSS Abilities: From Outcast to Awakened -
Chapter 21: Different Tiers of Demonic Beasts
Chapter 21: Different Tiers of Demonic Beasts
Those in the queue were curious as to who Lukas was.
They couldn’t recognize Lukas with his duck cap and face mask on.
It was weird for someone to venture out of the city alone.
Either he was so powerful he could take on all the demonic beasts by himself or he was so stupid to do so alone.
All of them frowned and mumbled.
"See that?"
"Must be one of those who think they can handle the demonic beasts after awakening an ability. The excitement must have got to him."
"He doesn’t even have a backpack or something to store the demonic beast cores. What are the schools teaching nowadays?"
"Maybe he knows his limits, and that’s why he didn’t bring any backpack with him."
"Hmph. I’ll be waiting to pick up the mission to rescue him."
The other awakened nodded their heads as they felt that Lukas would certainly call for help when he gets injured by the demonic beasts.
"Next!" The soldiers at the checkpoint called out to Lukas.
Lukas walked up to the checkpoint and the soldier at the counter gestured for his Awakened ID.
Only those who were awakened could be allowed to leave the city to deal with the demonic beasts.
The soldier who was yawning, stopped in the middle of it and his mouth was left wide open.
"SSS Level?" He looked at the Awakened ID of Lukas and then glanced over at Lukas.
Every day on duty, he had mostly seen those with A Level ability and sometimes those with S Level ability.
Only when Riley came through did he see a SSS Level awakened.
But right now, in front of him was another SSS Level awakened.
The soldier frowned and quickly entered Lukas’s details into the computer.
[Name: Lukas Anthony]
[Status: Awakened]
[Awakened Level: SSS Level]
[Awakened Ability: ???]
When he saw the ’???’ for Lukas’s awakened ability, the soldier immediately knew who he was.
"You... You are the guy..." He stood up and pointed excitedly at Lukas.
Lukas shook his head at the soldier, not wanting to draw attention to himself.
The soldier at the checkpoint counter stopped himself and sat back down in his seat.
He took out a map, placed it on the counter and motioned for Lukas to come nearer.
Lukas did so and he glanced at the map.
The map was for the surrounding areas they were in.
There were areas marked with different colors.
The soldier pointed at the areas that were marked in green and said, "These areas have been identified to have lower tiered demonic beasts.
"I would recommend new awakened try and clear the demonic beasts in these areas first."
Lukas recalled from his memory and lessons in school that the demonic beasts were classified into different tiers.
Lower tiered demonic beasts like Fire Deer were safer to deal with for those awakened with a lower-level ability.
Middle and High tiered demonic beasts required more powerful awakened to deal with.
Then there are the mysterious Legend and God tiered demonic beasts that not much has been recorded about them.
His finger then moved to an area that was further from the city, marked in amber color.
"This area has been identified to be inhabited by Middle tiered demonic beasts.
"I would advise you not to venture out so far for now.
"Same for the areas marked in red over here.
"High tiered demonic beasts roam in these areas.
"Here take this map with you."
The soldier knew what Lukas did at the Awakened Center, but he was still concerned for Lukas, seeing that he looked just like a high school student.
"I will take note of it."
Lukas nodded, took the map, folded it, and gave the soldier a smile.
"And one more thing. If you get injured or need to be rescued, you can put up a mission request in the Awakened Center App."
Lukas took out his phone and tapped on the Awakened Center App, and there was a section in the app for life critical missions.
He was glad as he saw it as another money-making opportunity for him.
"Thanks. Hope I don’t need to use it."
"Just be cautious, stick to the green areas first."
Lukas nodded and walked through the checkpoint, exiting the tall and huge wall of the city for the first time in his life.
After he left, some of the awakened, when they came up to the soldier at the counter, asked about Lukas.
"You feel okay to let the young man wander out on his own?"
"Don’t come complaining when you have to save his ass when he gets into trouble."
"Who wants to have a bet that he would be back here safely without any assistance?"
One of the awakened suggested and many of them got to betting.
Most of them bet on Lukas crying out for help soon.
The soldier at the checkpoint counter couldn’t control himself and his lips curled up.
Soon the odds were terribly against Lukas’s favor.
It got up to 1:100.
The soldier then decided it was time to place his bet.
"I will bet $100 on the young man not needing any help."
He took out all the money he had on him and placed his bet.
The banker startled for a moment, and he took the money from the soldier.
"And I will raise you $100 that he will come back empty handed."
The banker up the ante and the soldier hesitated for a moment.
Finally, the soldier made his decision and he bet on Lukas coming back with at least a demonic beast core.
The other awakened burst out laughing at what the soldier did.
"Bro, are you sure your wife wouldn’t kill you when you lose the money?"
"I think you better take your money back while you still can."
"Why stop a fool from parting with his money?"
The soldier just smirked at the awakened.
He couldn’t wait to see their faces when he won.
The newbie awakened who broke Riley’s record couldn’t be as bad as these awakened thought.
...
Lukas, unaware of what was happening at the checkpoint, was walking towards the area that was marked in green.
He wasn’t going to be rash and venture out to the areas marked in amber or red.
When he got to the area, he heard a rustling sound not far away in the woods.
