I have an Apocalypse City -
Chapter 982 - 982 983 Experiment_1
Chapter 982: Chapter 983 Experiment_1 Chapter 982: Chapter 983 Experiment_1 Song Jian stared at the skeletal raven, feeling a faint necromantic power emanating from it. This wasn’t the first time he had encountered such power; the zombie monsters within Doomsday City also possessed it.
However, the necromantic power within this skeletal raven was much purer.
“Arrogant human, you have no idea what kind of existence you’ve angered!” Seeing that Song Jian seemed unafraid, the voice that came from the skeletal raven’s beak took on a tint of annoyance, “I was conducting an important experiment earlier and didn’t bother with you, which perhaps gave you some illusions! I just heard that you’re even preparing to attack my castle? Well then, I shall await your arrival in my castle. Do not keep me waiting too long, or otherwise, I will turn your domain into a Cloud of Death…”
Rustle rustle~
As soon as the skeletal raven finished speaking, it didn’t wait for Song Jian’s response; it simply flapped its bony wings and flew into the sky.
Catherine looked at Song Jian with a face full of concern. In her opinion, with Song Jian’s current military strength, challenging a powerful undead wizard lord was an extremely unwise choice.
“We don’t have siege engines, our soldiers are too few, we can’t even climb the walls of the opponent’s castle, and even in open field, we are no match for an undead wizard lord, let alone attacking a castle…” Catherine tried to dissuade Song Jian, but obviously, the effect was not very good.
“If you are afraid, then I will lead this battle!” Song Jian said, giving Catherine a cold look.
Catherine immediately felt Song Jian’s disdain, her face flushed with anger as she shouted, “You think I fear death? I just don’t want to make a meaningless sacrifice. You’re going to attack an undead wizard’s castle now, and apart from adding a few low-level skeleton soldiers to your opponent, it will have no effect.”
“In my eyes, you are indeed afraid of death!” Song Jian said, “A true warrior never asks how strong the enemies are, only where they are! Even if it’s just me alone, I will eradicate this human domain’s tumor!”
Seeing Song Jian’s righteous expression, Catherine was at a loss for words, but his statement deeply moved her.
“Never asking how strong the enemy is, only where they are? Damn it, who is the fool who said such a thing? However, why does it make me feel my blood boil and make me want to rush into battle right away?” Catherine muttered to herself.
As she came back to her senses, she realized that Song Jian had already taken off alone towards the undead wizard Karada’s castle.
“He really is an arrogant oddball!” Catherine gritted her teeth, leading her army toward Song Jian. She touched the scroll in her bosom, murmuring, “Even if we fail, at least I can take you away and save your life. There are too few ‘foolish’ people like you nowadays. But in my eyes, you are more of a warrior than those lords, a true warrior!”
From the information obtained from the City Lord Mansion, Song Jian knew that undead wizards belonged to the fifth tier of the Undead Clan’s military, which was a level higher than the Crusaders led by Catherine. A normal undead wizard could handle fifteen to twenty crusaders, and with the advantage of terrain, a single undead wizard could even hold off an army of over a hundred crusaders.
The regular undead wizard soldiers were best known for unleashing clusters of Cloud of Death and dealing area attacks on the enemy. Such beings, if advanced to heroes, would have their mastery of Cloud of Death increased in both scope and power manifold.
“I guess the army Catherine is leading will be annihilated by the enemy in one fell swoop, right?” Song Jian glanced at the following Catherine, a mysterious smile playing on his lips.
Ever since entering the Assessment World, Song Jian had been capturing resource points and accumulating troops, but he had never pinned his hopes for victory on these soldiers. The only thing he believed in was the long sword in his hands.
As he had just said, even if it was only him, he would still attack the undead wizard lord’s castle because he believed that he alone was enough.
“I must be insane to join you in attacking a necromancer lord’s castle!” Catherine complained in a low voice as she rode her warhorse to Song Jian’s side.
Song Jian gave a faint smile and said, “Just think, if we win, this battle will be one led by you, and your great name will spread throughout the entire human kingdom. Your father will certainly be proud of you.”
“First, we must actually be able to defeat that necromancer, and within his own castle at that!” Catherine was not swayed and rolled her eyes in response.
“Don’t worry, all obstacles will be cleaved apart by my longsword, one slash at a time, and if that’s not enough, then two slashes!” Song Jian laughed heartily.
“Is your sword a divine artifact, then? Even the legendary supreme divine artifact, the Blade of Doomsday, doesn’t possess such powerful abilities,” Catherine couldn’t help retorting.
“You’ll know when the time comes!” Song Jian, not wanting to explain, simply nodded in response.
…
The distant land was barren, with not a grass in sight; a castle imbued with the style of the Undead Clan stood tall on the vast plains. Inside the castle, the necromancer Karada stared at a crystal ball which displayed the scene caught by the eyes of skeletal crows: Song Jian, Catherine, and their following army.
Seeing Catherine’s rather shabby-looking army without even a single siege engine, Karada laughed silently with a rattling of his jawbone, as his teeth clicked together softly, emitting a “clack clack” sound – the way the Undead Clan expressed laughter.
“Hahaha, I thought they were just a few hot-headed young warriors, but it turns out they’re two lunatics who don’t know whether they’re alive or dead!” Karada sent out more skeletal crows to widen his scouting range and, noticing that Song Jian had set up no ambush, he quickly lost interest in them.
Without siege engines, they shouldn’t even dream of breaching the robust walls of the castle. Such a meager army attacking a necromancer lord’s fortress would probably fail to even get close to the walls.
“Compared to two arrogantly ignorant lunatics, my research is somewhat more important!” Karada’s withered palm gently swiped over the crystal ball, wiping away the images before he turned and walked toward his laboratory.
In Karada’s lab, the corpse of a black dragonling, merely over two meters long, was placed in a special container, surrounded by countless black crystals forming a Magic Array, ceaselessly infusing grey undead power into the body of the black dragonling.
It seemed that the necromancer intended to resurrect this black dragonling as an undead creature, but despite the lengthy process, there was not the slightest sign of resurrection.
Karada, emotionless, slit his own wrist, and wisps of grey mist spilled from the cut, drifting toward the carcass of the black dragonling;
Karada began to chant a spell, the eerie incantations sounding like a remote and desolate war chant, resonating throughout the lab. As the spell echoed beyond the laboratory, the undead creatures within the castle who heard it, had their eyes flare with a fierce green fire, and they began to exude a wild aura.
Over the City of the Undead, a dark Cloud of Death slowly swirled in the sky above the castle, with black lightning occasionally cracking within the turbulent clouds, thunder booming, and bursts of “rumbling” resonating overhead.
