I have an Apocalypse City -
Chapter 1604 - Chapter 1604 Chapter 1605 Battlefield
Chapter 1604: Chapter 1605 Battlefield Chapter 1604: Chapter 1605 Battlefield A secret realm light gate collapsed the moment it appeared, yet Song Jian, as if he couldn’t see it, charged straight towards the gate.
This scene made several elders from the Divine Sword Sect’s faces turn pale.
Although they wanted to see Song Jian fail, they didn’t wish for him to die there. After all, Song Jian was no ordinary disciple; he was likely the only demi-god level disciple of the Imperial Sword Sect. If he truly died at the Divine Sword Sect, the entire sect would have a difficult time explaining it, which might even lead to turning enemies against each other.
“Not good…”
“This kid is too reckless, he’s going to die…”
“The secret realm light gate is about to collapse, can’t he see that…”
A few elders even thought about helping him, but they were too far away. Even with skills similar to instant teleportation, there was no way to cross the distance in time to save him.
In just one-tenth of a second, the secret realm light gate began to collapse, and by that time, Song Jian had already reached the gate.
“Time Rewind, congeal!”
With a light shout from Song Jian, the already collapsing secret realm light gate suddenly stopped its collapse and began to reassemble quickly with a reverse motion, rapidly healing every fragment and fissure.
At the same time, Song Jian felt an immense pressure. Although he was at the demi-god level and had comprehended the Time Law, controlling a certain area to reverse time still put a tremendous strain on him.
Song Jian’s Mental Strength was rapidly depleting at an astonishing rate as he fully controlled the Power of Law to repair the secret realm light gate.
Finally, the secret realm light gate was reverted to its initial moment of formation, and by then, Song Jian had dashed into the gate like lightning strikes before one hears the thunder.
After he entered the secret realm light gate, an enormous boom echoed from the gate. In the eyes of all Divine Sword Sect elders, it burst open, covering an area of hundreds of meters in the explosion. The entire slope was blasted into a crater more than thirty meters in diameter.
The secret realm light gate, which could have remained open for about half an hour, sealed itself off at the moment of the explosion. After the blast, no other secret realm light gate appeared on the slopes of Moon-gazing Rhino Peak.
Feeling the power of the explosion, the faces of several Legendary Realm peak elders from the Divine Sword Sect changed dramatically. The might of the explosion exceeded the full-force strike of a Legendary Realm peak expert. Even they, if caught at the epicenter, would likely be heavily injured or even die instantly.
“Did he, did he enter the secret realm?” An elder, feeling the trembling of the earth beneath his feet, flashed a look of shock in his eyes.
“He must have entered. I saw him go in, and then the secret entrance lost control…”
“What happened, did you see it clearly? The entrance to the secret realm was already collapsing. Entering at that time was simply suicidal, but, but…”
“It wasn’t just you, my eyes must have been playing tricks on me too. I saw the collapsing light gate somehow heal itself automatically…”
“It’s not just you with the tricked eyes, I saw it too. It was as if time had reversed…”
…
At this moment, several elders suddenly fell silent, as if they had thought of something. They exchanged glances and saw the colors of fear in each other’s eyes.
“Can it be…” one of the elders suddenly whispered. At the base of the mountain, there was silence; no one dared to consider that sole possibility.
…
At this time, Song Jian felt like he was in the clouds, surrounded by thick white mist. His body involuntarily began to fall toward the ground, but the speed wasn’t fast.
Boom~
A loud explosion came from behind. Song Jian suddenly felt a jolt through his body, as if he had been hit by the shockwave of the explosion. Then, his vision blurred, and he lost control of his body, hurled forward like a stone, picking up speed.
Bang~
A crisp shattering noise reached his ears, and he felt as if he had broken through a pane of glass. He crashed heavily to the ground, creating a large crater upon impact.
Struggling to his feet, Song Jian’s physical strength was now even more formidable than that of a Kryptonian superhero. Even after crashing to the ground, he only sustained minor abrasions. By the time he stood up, those scrapes had already fully healed, not even leaving behind a scar.
Looking up at the sky, he could clearly see that the azure sky had a huge hole torn in it, and beyond it was endless darkness. It looked as though a colossal beast had opened its gaping maw.
Under Song Jian’s gaze, the large tear in the sky slowly began to heal, as if it had the ability to repair itself.
Only then did Song Jian have the chance to survey the space he was in. It seemed to be a battlefield; as far as the eye could see, there were corpses dressed in golden helmets and armor. These bodies, which appeared to be human, were imposing even in death, not showing any signs of decay and emanating a fierce aura as if they were still in battle.
Tattered banners, chariots, and weapons were scattered everywhere. However, what struck Song Jian as odd was that although the ground was littered with the corpses in golden armor, there was no trace of their enemy. It was as if these people had died fighting amongst themselves.
Upon closer inspection, Song Jian finally realized that these people had not died from infighting but had indeed fallen in battle with an enemy. The corpses still held the postures they had before their deaths.
Some had their hands shaped as if they were choking their foes’ necks, others grasped weapons, frozen in the motion of a slash or a thrust, and some even had their arms encircling empty air, their mouths agape, as if they had been biting into the flesh of their enemies.
Yet, strangely, their enemies had vanished, as though they had dissolved into nothingness.
“Could it be that their enemies were like the monsters in video games that get incinerated by invisible flames upon death?” Song Jian wondered to himself.
Just then, Song Jian noticed what seemed to be a seven-to-eight-meter-high golden mound in the distance. Atop this mound, a golden flag fluttered on its slanted pole, making a whirring sound. Beneath the flag, a warrior clad in golden armor stood atop the mound, weapon in hand, unyielding.
Moved, Song Jian ran toward the mound and realized upon arrival that the mountain beneath the warrior’s feet was made entirely of the bodies of his fallen comrades. They had built a mountain with their corpses, and the warrior standing on top, despite his golden armor being battered and his body scarred with dried, dark brown crusts of blood, had a resolute expression and maintained a fighting stance – his right hand tightly gripping a long spear, as if he were still battling the enemy in his final moments.
Behind the warrior, a banner continued to flutter in the wind. A closer look revealed that the flag bore a large “Heaven” character and, next to it, three smaller characters, “Combat Division”.
Song Jian couldn’t help but move forward for a closer look. After only a few steps, he suddenly felt a sense of threat and stopped in his tracks. He looked up to see that the spear in the hands of the warlord who had died many years ago suddenly burst into dazzling light, as if it had mysteriously come to life.
