Chapter 1382 - Chapter 1382 Chapter 1384 The Kings Tomb
Chapter 1382: Chapter 1384: The King’s Tomb Chapter 1382: Chapter 1384: The King’s Tomb Looking at the murals on the walls of the passageway, the eyes of all the Alien Clan examinees burst with excitement. They stared intently at the small bottle in the painting, which contained a droplet of golden liquid that seemed to defy gravity, the legendary “Golden Blood”!
“Golden Blood, it’s really the Golden Blood…”
In the eyes of all examinees, a greedy look emerged. Compared with the Golden Blood, things like combat power assessment or golden side quests were completely trivial. If one could obtain the Golden Blood, they would become a member of the legendary Golden Clan, a treasure far superior to any reward.
However, if Song Jian were here, he would definitely notice that the twelve-winged deity holding a battle halberd in one hand and the Golden Blood in the other–his wings were also half black and half white, almost identical to Song Jian’s, the only difference being he had six pairs of twelve wings, whereas Song Jian currently had only two pairs of four!
“The Golden Blood must be within this tomb, let’s hurry!” urged one of the examinees.
The group exchanged glances, seeing both intense greed and wariness in each other’s eyes. Of the twelve Alien Clan examinees remaining, each harboring their own thoughts, they started to walk briskly toward the depths of the tomb.
They passed through several Underground Palaces, and in each one, a large number of monsters guarded the premises, including some overlord-level and even sovereign-level BOSS. But in the eyes of these Alien Clan examinees, the monsters had become mere obstacles in their quest for the Golden Blood. They swept through them like a frenzy, killing any creature that stood in their path.
Along the way, they killed many BOSS, which incidentally raised their pass ratings by a level–an unexpected bonus.
However, Xilin and his companions also discovered that everyone who entered the tomb had a new status called “Smorahan’s Curse” in their state bars, which unknowingly had already accumulated to three layers.
“Smorahan’s Curse (Negative Effect): 3/15 layers, Effect: Reduces 15% of Vitality Points regeneration speed, increases energy consumption for skills by 30%, and every thirty seconds a physical check is conducted, failure to pass resulting in triggering effects like high fever and weakness in limbs for 10 seconds!”
“Su La Mo, can you resolve this curse?” asked Xilin with a stern face. It was manageable for now with their robust physiques, but as they ventured deeper into the tomb, they would surely encounter stronger BOSS. And should the curse stack to its maximum, it may become the straw that breaks their chance at obtaining the Golden Blood!
At that moment, Su La Mo felt some panic himself. He had not expected that the curse would intensify the deeper they went into the tomb. Although he had already consumed an elixir to resist the curse, as time passed, the potion’s effects were waning. He already had two layers of the curse and wouldn’t last much longer before he suffered the same fate as the others.
“I have a few bottles of Advanced Detoxification Potion; I don’t know if they’ll be of any use!” Su La Mo took out several bottles of dark green elixir and handed them to Xilin.
Xilin took one and drank it immediately, but after waiting for a moment, his face revealed a trace of disappointment.
“No use, it’s ineffective!” said Xilin.
“Then I’m out of ideas!” Su La Mo replied, spreading his arms: “I’ve never dealt with a curse before; I don’t know its composition and can’t make an antidote on the fly!”
With a thoughtful look, Xilin nodded slightly to the other examinees and said, “If we want the treasure, we must take some risks. The curse isn’t severe yet. Those who lack confidence in their strengths may leave. Presumably, the curse will disappear once you leave the tomb!”
The complexions of all examinees changed. During normal circumstances, some might withdraw, but faced with the treasure of Golden Blood, even if one were on the brink of death, it’s unlikely that anyone would give up. The Golden Blood was worth risking one’s life for! Besides, they were in the Assessment World, where one couldn’t truly die!
After waiting a while, no one opted out, Xilin nodded and, after giving Su La Mo a deep look, continued to walk forward.
Soon, the group arrived at the actual tomb chamber, where they were greeted by a towering bronze gate, several meters high. Flanking the gate, there were warrior statues nearly as tall as the gate itself. Standing in front of the gate, they all felt like dwarves who had intruded into a land of giants, suddenly realizing their own insignificance.
“This must be the final resting place of King Smolahan and where the ‘blood of gold’ is kept!” Xilin murmured to himself.
Almost everyone’s eyes shone with excitement as they began to push the bronze gate together. Quickly, with a low scraping sound, the bronze gate opened just wide enough to allow one person to pass through.
And from that gap, dazzling golden light burst forth, illuminating the area around the gate as if it were broad daylight. Everyone stared, dumbfounded, through the gap and saw behind the bronze gate a vast array of gold and jewels. The radiance of these treasures was almost blinding!
“There’s, there’s so much gold…”
“My God, are these the burial goods? It’s like the wealth of an entire kingdom has been piled up here!”
“We’re rich, we’re rich! Even if there were twice as many of us, this much gold would be enough for us to enjoy a paradisiacal life for the rest of our days!”
…
Almost everyone was grinning from ear to ear, their hearts pounding excitedly. Even those usually indifferent to money couldn’t help but be stirred and astonished at the sight of so much gold and jewelry laid out like gravel on the ground.
“The royal tomb, we’ve found the royal tomb! The treasure is inside!” Xilin exclaimed excitedly.
The group rushed in, with some immediately picking up gold and jewels from the ground and others looking around. Su La Mo was the last to enter the chamber. As he stepped in, his expression grew even uglier when he found that the curse, which had previously only been layered twice, had jumped straight to five levels, and after a short while, it increased again, reaching six levels!
“There are lanterns on the walls all around, and they seem to have oil in them. Light them up quickly!” someone suddenly shouted.
In no time, several lanterns scattered throughout the tomb were lit, and the fire blazed brightly, bringing the entire chamber into full view for everyone.
“Holy moly, this place is just too…”
Everyone gaped at their surroundings, with some examinees who had already gathered their hands full of gold freezing in place, staring ahead motionlessly, completely disregarding the gold that fell from their hands onto the ground.
