Chapter 1201 - Chapter 1201 Chapter 1203 The Test
Chapter 1201: Chapter 1203: The Test Chapter 1201: Chapter 1203: The Test On his way to the Forgotten Temple, Song Jian saw countless roots like enormous pythons, exposed amidst the surrounding sea of flowers. Clearly, the reach of the roots from that ancient tree was much wider than he had imagined.
“Could it be that every inch of land in this area is under the canopy of this ancient tree?” A thought suddenly popped into Song Jian’s mind. Although the area where the Forgotten Temple was located was not vast, encompassing the entire area’s underground would nevertheless be no easy feat.
Yet, looking at the roots that were visible everywhere, a shudder of fear involuntarily gripped Song Jian’s heart. If this ancient tree sought to share the same fate as Kuzai, harboring a suicidal intent towards Song Jian, then it could easily obliterate this area completely. At that time, the explosion resulting from the collapse of the plane would surely be beyond Song Jian’s ability to withstand. His only chance for survival would be to hide within the Shattered Divine Realm and then drift through the endless cosmic rivers of time and space.
The thought of such a terrifying scenario gave Song Jian a bone-chilling sensation, and he couldn’t help but quicken his steps toward the Forgotten Temple.
Standing beneath the temple, Song Jian immediately felt how insignificant he was. Just like when he had seen the ancient tree, the entire temple was over a hundred meters tall, larger than a mountain peak–likened to a temple built solely for the giant race. Had not the temple doors been wide open, Song Jian would have doubted whether he could push them open himself.
The temple seemed to have lacked maintenance for a very long time, exuding a sense of decay and desolation everywhere. On the floor of the temple hall, Song Jian even saw clusters of weeds stubbornly sprouting through the cracks.
Song Jian walked alone in the temple hall, the entire place dead silent except for the echo of his footsteps. It wasn’t until he had walked nearly a kilometer that he finally saw the central statue in the temple–a stone figure with three faces and eight arms, identical to the one he had seen before entering the temple, which was carved from an entire mountain. However, unlike that time when the statue’s eight hands were empty and just held in various bizarre poses,
this time, in the temple, each of the statue’s hands tightly grasped an item: a knife, a sword, a hammer, a spear, an axe, a shield, a tower, a seal!
All eight items contained astonishing force, and their surging auras rippled outward like tides, yet they merged together perfectly in a way that was truly breathtaking.
System: You’ve discovered the Forgotten Temple, hidden quest first phase completed!
System: You’ve initiated the hidden quest “Forgotten Temple” second phase, face the trial by the Ancient Desolate Demon God Statue. Pass the trial to continue to the third phase of the quest!
When Song Jian approached this statue, the hidden quest in his mission bar immediately changed!
“Trial by the statue?” Song Jian’s expression changed slightly, “Does this mean I have to fight against this statue before me?”
One should know that even without considering the colossal size of the statue, just the fact of being attacked by all eight items in its hands was something Song Jian might not be able to handle. Judging by the aura emanating from the statue, it was definitely at Legendary Level–equivalent to the strength of a King Level Boss!
Even though Song Jian’s own strength had increased significantly, he was not confident enough to believe he could defeat a King Level Boss!
Just as Song Jian was hesitating, a transmission circle with a diameter of over five meters suddenly appeared in front of the statue, and simultaneously, a lighted arrow appeared at Song Jian’s feet, guiding him to step into the circle.
After a moment of hesitation, Song Jian stepped along the illuminated arrow and stood within the circle.
A blinding white light flickered, and Song Jian’s vision blurred with a sensation of weightlessness, reminiscent of passing through a Transmission Array. However, the sensation came and went quickly, and in a short moment, Song Jian opened his eyes and looked around.
Surrounding him was an endless expanse of starscape; the pitch-black sky shimmered with countless stars, and surrounding Song Jian were numerous screen-like displays, as wide as a movie screen, showing different scenes.
One scene depicted a bloody arena where the audience consisted of various kinds of demons, and within the arena, limbs were strewn everywhere with blood soaking every stone slab on the ground. At that moment, a man and a beast were fighting furiously in the arena, and while no sound came through, just from the visuals alone, Song Jian could imagine the roaring and howling resounding in the place.
Another scene showed a vast labyrinth teeming with all sorts of monsters and traps, where a careless step could lead to irreversible doom. Song Jian saw many people killed by monsters or traps within the maze, and some even turned on each other upon crossing paths, fighting to the death.
The labyrinth contained only danger, with no treasures to be found; among the many who entered, one in ten thousand might make it out alive. Any individual lingering too long was inevitably hunted down and slaughtered by a minotaur-like creature of great power, meeting a horrific end.
Song Jian’s brow furrowed slightly as his gaze shifted to the remaining images, almost every one of them filled with brutality and bloodshed, enough to send chills down the spine of any onlooker.
The scenes before him unfolded like a sprawling scroll, slowly flowing past Song Jian. Over the course of ten minutes, he scarcely saw any repetitive scenes.
“Am I to choose one of these scenes and prevail within it?” Song Jian wondered silently.
Just then, a scene filled with mist, where only a path of gray-white stone slabs faintly appeared and disappeared in the fog, moved in front of Song Jian.
As this scene came before Song Jian, it suddenly burst into light, drawing him in without any opportunity to prepare.
In the span of a moment, a figure appeared in the previously empty scene, slowly rising from the stone path. As the figure stood up, crimson dots began to flicker within the fog, numerous and seemingly endless.
Unexpectedly, Song Jian found himself within the scene. As soon as he entered, a tingling sensation ran across his scalp, and the fog around him seemed to conceal dangers that were slowly inching toward him.
Low growls, as if squeezed from deep in the throat, echoed around him, suggesting an endless horde of creatures converging on Song Jian, which reminded him of the time he was nearly surrounded by Zombies.
It was then that Song Jian recalled the scenes he had witnessed earlier. It seemed there was only one path here, and he had to follow it to reach the end of the stage.
Gazing at the stone path obscured by fog before him, Song Jian gritted his teeth and took large strides, quickly sprinting along this sole path.
