I Have A Sword -
Chapter 703: Insulting
Gate of Purification?
Looking at the light door, Ye Guan had to admit that he was feeling quite speechless. The Primordial Spirit Land had evidently put this here to prevent outsiders from entering, After all, they considered outsiders to be inferior to them.
He had never met a clan that was as arrogant as this one!
“Come here," the girl said.
Ye Guan walked up to her. She then opened her hand, revealing a glass vial full of golden fluids.
“This holy water can enhance your bloodline. Consider yourself lucky," she said.
The girl then poured a drop on a cup and handed it to Ye Guan. “Drink it.”
Ye Guan glanced at the droplet, then drank it without much thought.
“Since you have an inferior bloodline, you'll probably have a hard time enduring the energy of this holy water. You'll likely feel discomfort at first, then you'll feel as if your body is about to explode…” she trailed off, her brows furrowing.
The young man before her didn't react to the holy water at all.The woman looked puzzled. “You…”
“What’s wrong?”
“Do you feel your blood boiling and burning?”
Ye Guan shook his head. None of his three bloodlines reacted in such a way at all.
Frowning, the girl took out another drop and handed it over to him. “Try again.”
As instructed, he drank it again. Still no reaction.
Stunned, she looked at the glass vial in her hand.
“Did it expire?” she mumbled.
She sniffed the bottle, realizing that the holy water was fine. If so, then that meant that Ye Guan was the problem.
The girl looked up at him. “Your bloodline must be so inferior that even the holy water is ineffective.”
Ye Guan was speechless. Without bothering to explain, he walked toward the Gate of Purification.
“Even if your bloodline is too inferior, that gate should still purify you…”
Before she could finish, Ye Guan stepped through the gate, yet even the gate showed no reaction.
The girl was at a complete loss.
“Is it possible that his bloodline is actually too superior for our holy water to have any effect on it?” Qing Dai unknowingly asked.
She then stepped through the gate as well, leaving the dazed girl behind.
On the other side, Ye Guan found himself in a vast starry sky. Qing Dai followed closely behind him.
Ye Guan looked at the horizon, where he could vaguely see a massive floating city. Miniature stars orbited above it.
Soon, the girl approached them. Glancing at Ye Guan, she asked, “What bloodline do you have?”
"Just a low-level one; it's not really worth mentioning," Ye Guan calmly replied.
The girl’s brows furrowed.
“Young lady, what do you know about the Primordial Spirit Temple?” Ye Guan asked.
“Why do you ask?”
“I’m looking for someone. An old, blind man.”
To Ye Guan's surprise, the girl suddenly flew into a rage. “How dare you!”
She glared at him fiercely and sneered. “You, an outsider, dare insult the Wise Master?!”
Ye Guan frowned. “The Wise Master?”
The girl was about to lose her temper. After thinking about it for a little while, she asked, “How do you know about him?”
Ye Guan smiled slightly. “Someone told me to find him. Could you take me to him?”
The girl merely stared at him silently, causing him to sigh inwardly. He found it difficult to have a friendly conversation with the people here.
He began to feel some sympathy for the First God, who must have faced similar challenges when he pursued the Saintess long ago. The thought made Ye Guan shake his head.
“Young lady, can we meet this Wise Master?” Qing Dai asked.
The girl turned to her. “What caused your amnesia?”
“I don’t really know.”
“You're from the Primordial Spirit Clan. Naturally, I will help you, but,” she looked at Ye Guan, "the Wise Master will definitely not agree to meet an outsider.”
“Could you inform him that I was sent by Ruo Ming?" Ye Guan requested. "If the Wise Master still refuses to see me, then I promise to leave.”
The girl fell silent. Evidently, she did not want to help him.
Ye Guan felt a little helpless. He could not force her to do anything she did not want to do, but he also knew that even though this girl was hostile toward outsiders, other members of the Primordial Spirit Clan might be even more aggressive.
"Please do us this favor," he pleaded.
Qing Dai smiled. “Please.”
The girl glanced at them. Finally, she relented. “I'll let him know, but I can’t guarantee that he will agree to meet you.”
“Thank you," Ye Guan swiftly replied with a smile.
The girl seemed to respond better to requests than hard demands.
The girl led the two to the distant city and soon reached their destination.
Looking at it from below, Ye Guan could not help but feel a bit shocked. The stars orbiting the city were real, though he could not tell what made them shrink in size. As they slowly orbited the city, he started to realize that the city was floating because of them.
He looked at the girl out of curiosity, but she didn't bother giving him an explanation.
Instead, she simply said, “Wait here.”
She then turned to Qing Dai. “Do you want to come along?”
Qing Dai smiled. “I’ll stay here with Young Master Ye.”
The girl nodded and walked into the city.
“Sister Ruo said that you weren’t like this before…”
“Are you wondering if I used to be as haughty as that young lady?” Qing Dai asked.
Ye Guan just blinked in response.
“I probably was. Do you find it laughable?”
Puzzled, he asked, “Why would I?”
“Because from my perspective, no one has the right to be haughty before you, Young Lord Ye. Not even the Primordial Spirit Land.”
“I don’t really care about things like that.”
Although slightly taken aback, Qing Dai understood what he meant.
Why didn’t he care? One could just pretend to be poor even if they weren't really poor.
“However, the Primordial Spirit Land does have the right to be haughty," Ye Guan added.
Ever since he arrived at this place, he had been noticing Divine Dao Realm cultivators everywhere. Even the young lady that they had just met was in the Divine Dao Realm. Moreover, although she only possessed twenty percent divinity, she could probably easily defeat someone with fifty percent divinity from the outside world.
The Divine Dao cultivators here possessed true prowess. The God Clan, Zhen Clan, and the Ancient Wilderness could not compare to this place. To top it all off, what he had seen so far was probably just the tip of the iceberg.
The First God marrying the Saintess was certainly an impressive feat.
“I don’t really like this place, Young Master Ye," Qing Dai commented.
When Ye Guan turned to her, she added, “I really liked the ancient tree and the swing we saw when we arrived, but now that we're in here, I've come to realize that I don't like this place at all…”
“Perhaps you had some unpleasant experiences with your clan members in the past," he replied.
Qing Dai nodded. “Nevertheless, I need my memories back. I can’t keep living in a haze for the rest of my life.”
“My intuition tells me that you sealed your memories because there are things you don't want to remember. However, after so many years, even the most unpleasant memories should be easier to let go.”
“I hope so.”
Soon, the young girl returned.
“The Wise Master has agreed to meet you both. Feel free to go in," she said.
“Thank you," Ye Guan said. He quickly took out a hundred Ancestral Origin strands and handed them to her.
However, although she looked at the strands, she didn't take them. Puzzled, Ye Guan thought that he had offered him too little. He took out another hundred.
The young lady just stared at him in silence.
Ye Guan felt awkward. He couldn't help but wonder if his actions were insulting to her.
However, the young lady soon silently accepted the Ancestral Origin strands.
“Let me take you inside! My name is Qing An," she said. "Let’s not take the main road. Those snobbish people will give you trouble if they see you. Let's take an alternate route instead."
Qing Dai and Ye Guan were speechless. If she had just said that she needed money earlier, things would not have been so uncomfortable.
Ever since she had accepted the Ancestral Origin strands from him, Qing An’s attitude toward him had improved significantly. She even defused any potential trouble along the way.
Soon, they arrived at a large hall. She turned to Ye Guan and said, “He’s in there.”
Ye Guan smiled and handed her another hundred Ancestral Origin strands. “Thank you, Lady Qing An.”
Given his current wealth, a mere hundred was insignificant to him.
Qing An quietly accepted them, then handed Ye Guan a talisman in return. “Use this to contact me. Feel free to reach out to me anytime.”
