I Have a Date with a Thousand-year-old Female Corpse -
Chapter 619 Python_1
Chapter 619: Chapter 619 Python_1
After some thought, you said to the girls beside you, "Xiuxiu, you take the girls back to the village first. The three of us boys will check it out. If we encounter danger, it’s easier for three people to run away in order without getting distracted."
Upon hearing this, Yang Kai couldn’t help but laugh and say, "Old Shu, we haven’t even started searching yet. Could you not talk so dishearteningly?"
"Kai Zi, this is no joke. We must be ready to run at all times. Spirit Monsters and Demons and Monsters are different; the latter are just the small ghosts that infest the Underworld."
"Isn’t there a saying that ’it’s easy to meet Yan Wang but tough to deal with his minions’? Could there be Spirit Monsters even more fearsome than Yan Wang?"
Not wanting to waste words with Yang Kai, suddenly six Yellow Vermilion Charms flew out of your pocket and pasted themselves on the legs of your trousers.
As the three of you boys headed deeper into the forest, Xian Qianling was initially eager to try but, after pondering carefully, ultimately gave up.
As you had said earlier, what awaited you was the unknown threat of Spirit Monsters. Without knowing how dangerous they were, it naturally made sense for fewer people to be involved. And although Wu Qiyi had strong combat abilities, she would still only have the option to run when facing a Spirit Monster.
"Zhao’er, let’s head back to the village," she said.
Wu Qiyi took Zhao’er’s hand, pulled her along, and led the other girls back the way they had come.
As you delved deeper into the forest, the sound of crying infants grew louder and more boisterous in the wind.
"Wait a minute."
Suddenly, Yang Kai, who was usually fearless and reckless, stopped and turned to look at you, "Old Shu, do I have a hearing problem, or does it sound like not just one baby crying but a whole bunch of them?"
"Little Kai, you’re not mistaken; it indeed sounds like a bunch of infants crying."
Yang Kai swallowed nervously at Xiao Feng’s words: "I don’t know why, but I suddenly have a very bad feeling."
"Hmm," Xiao Feng nodded, "If it were just one cry, it wouldn’t be a big deal; we’d at most face one Spirit Monster. But if it’s a whole nest of them, that could be deadly."
"Do you think that place could be a forest where nothing seems amiss when we enter, but when we look back, the trees are all covered with little children, each with a ferocious face, waving their terrifying limbs at us!"
"Knock it off."
You pushed Yang Kai’s head: "You were all tough in front of the girls just now. How come you’ve gone soft all of a sudden?"
Xiao Feng burst into laughter upon hearing this, slapped Yang Kai on the shoulder and said, "Little Kai, just resign yourself to fate. You know what Old Shu is like. If he’s here, he will definitely explore to the end. Come on, stop dragging your feet."
The three of you continued on your way. As the woods around you grew denser, you all could feel a noticeable drop in the air temperature, and the wind blowing through the trees seemed increasingly eerie.
"Wait!"
You suddenly let out a quiet call, and Xiao Feng and Yang Kai immediately halted.
"What’s up?" Xiao Feng asked.
"Did we find that thing?" Yang Kai was tense too.
"Shh."
You gestured for them to be silent and then, as if you were a thief, tiptoed towards a thicket up ahead.
Yang Kai and Xiao Feng exchanged glances and then followed in your footsteps.
"Rustle—rustle rustle—"
The wind in the forest grew stronger, causing the leaves to rustle. The crying of the infants in the wind became even more spine-chilling.
Passing through the thicket, a small valley appeared before you.
The path into the valley was rugged, and below the cliff beside it flowed a stream of clear water.
By the time they got here, the wind carried not only the cries of infants but also something akin to the wailing and cries for help of a woman. However, these sounds contained no words, merely groans.
"Gulp—"
After swallowing hard, Yang Kai suddenly hesitated to proceed any further. "Old Shu, thinking of our safety, it might be wiser not to go in. The ghost Qi in this valley is too strong. Not just you guys, even a half-baked practitioner like me can feel it."
"This isn’t ghost Qi, if it were, you’d already be lying dead on the ground," you said as you walked toward the rock wall and crouched down by the stream.
You reached into the stream, stirred the water gently, scooped some up to sniff at your nose, then stood up and walked straight into the valley.
"Hey, Old Shu..."
Xiao Feng signaled Yang Kai to be quiet and gave him a comforting look.
"Whatever, if I’m going to die, might as well. Bad luck getting brothers like you guys."
Yang Kai followed your lead with a bitter smile.
The valley wasn’t deep. After winding through a few bends, they reached the final turn and were met with the valley’s floor—but at that moment, you jolted and immediately hid behind rocks by the bend.
Xiao Feng and Yang Kai were puzzled and whispered, "Old Shu, what did you see?"
You gestured inward with your hand: "See for yourselves, but better cover your mouths."
Yang Kai thought your expression was somewhat amusing, so he took a half-step out of the bend, and just as he turned his head—holy crap!
Yang Kai froze, stunned, and then dumbfounded.
Staring at the sight before him, he kept swallowing his saliva.
A snake, a snake coiled on the ground that could stack up to two stories high!
At the moment Xiao Feng poked his head around, his eyes widened in shock as he quickly pulled the dazed Yang Kai back into cover.
"What the hell, what was that thing?" Even though he had seen it with his own eyes, Yang Kai couldn’t believe what he saw was real.
It was too terrifying. How could there be a snake in the world that could grow to such a monstrous size!
"A snake, that was a snake, right? It could damn well compare with a dinosaur." Xiao Feng felt as if his heart might leap out of his chest. "How can there be such a huge snake in this world? I think, it could swallow a wooden house with just one bite!"
"Old Shu, let’s get out of here fast. This place is way too dangerous," Yang Kai said as he turned to leave, but after walking a few steps, he noticed that neither you nor Xiao Feng was following. When he turned around, he saw that you were already standing boldly in front of the terrible giant snake.
"Old Shu, are you crazy!"
Yang Kai hurried over and tried to pull you away.
"Kai Zi, keep it down, listen carefully," you whispered.
Your voice was very soft, yet it worked like a sedative for Yang Kai, instantly calming his entire body and mind.
At that moment, all three of you fell silent, and amidst the chaotic infant cries, you heard a deep woman’s voice.
"Please, save me, save my child... save my... child..."
"What... what’s going on?"
Looking up at the huge snake before him, Yang Kai’s expression shifted between belief and disbelief.
