Chapter 514: Chapter 514: Ghost Puppet (Fifteen Updates More)

"As long as you’re by my side, that’s all that matters."

You found Ruan Yuling’s words somewhat headache-inducing, but now was not the time to fuss over them.

The passage wasn’t very tall, likely designed for children to play in, which meant you had to crawl on all fours to get inside.

Ruan Yuling also set aside her identity as a wealthy woman and crawled into the passage just like you.

The three-meter distance was quickly covered, and just as you were about to exit, laughter suddenly echoed from ahead - the laughter of a child, not only abrupt but also sinister.

Just as you were about to look out, you suddenly saw a shadow appear before your eyes!

Looking up, you were horrified to find a doll about half a person’s height running towards you at full speed!

"Oh no!"

You hastily retreated, but Ruan Yuling behind you hadn’t realized what was happening up ahead. Consequently, the two of you collided in the passage.

Ruan Yuling, hit by your sudden move, clutched her head, her beautiful eyebrows slightly furrowing.

"Sister Ling, are you alright?"

"I’m fine, just a bit dazed," she replied, turning to look at you, only to scream in alarm upon seeing the rapidly approaching doll!

"Ugh!"

You quickly reached out and covered Ruan Yuling’s mouth.

"Shh."

You gestured for Ruan Yuling to be silent, and right then, a loud thud came from outside.

"Bang!"

The fast-running doll had crashed into the wall, shattering to pieces.

Seizing the moment, you and Ruan Yuling quickly crawled out of the passage to find yourselves in another large and empty room.

In the center of the room was a large table with a wooden doll seated on it, its head bowed, making it impossible to see its face. Other than that, the room was bare, with just three doors.

Ruan Yuling glanced at the shattered porcelain doll, half a meter tall, and said uneasily, "Let’s try opening those doors, this room doesn’t give me a good feeling."

Nodding, you strode forward, grabbed the doorknob on the right, and pulled the door open towards you, only to find pitch darkness inside.

You didn’t rush in but opened the other two doors in turn, finding each shrouded in black mist, obscuring all visibility.

"This is likely a maze," you said, turning to Ruan Yuling. "Once we enter the maze, you must hold my hand no matter what and never let go, understand?"

"Yes."

Ruan Yuling nodded seriously.

Following the principle of proximity, you took Ruan Yuling’s hand and entered the first door on the right. After passing through darkness, as you had anticipated, you entered a room identical to the one before, the only difference being the absence of the broken porcelain doll on the floor.

Without overthinking, you retraced your steps to the door you had come in through. As soon as you got back, you saw the half-person-tall porcelain doll charge at the wall and smash into pieces with a "ping."

Then, you entered the first door on the right and returned again, witnessing the porcelain doll hit the wall and shatter each time.

After seeing the porcelain doll smash into the wall seven or eight times, Ruan Yuling asked, "Are we unable to find the way out?"

"No, I just wanted to see what it felt like for that thing to hit the wall - damn satisfying!"

Ruan Yuling couldn’t help but purse her lips and chuckled, saying, "I didn’t expect Brother Yun to still have such childish moments."

After having looked around enough and with your irritation nearly completely dissipated, you cautiously led Ruan Yuling in and out of the rooms, crossing over thresholds. When you had guided Ruan Yuling until she felt somewhat dizzy, you suddenly realized that the surroundings had changed. In a bewildered moment, you both had entered a bedroom, completely different from the labyrinth-like room before.

The bedroom contained a large bed and was furnished with various children’s toys to the side, illustrating the household owner’s affection for children.

You searched the bedroom but did not discover any piano score or key that would allow entry into that room. Afterward, your gaze shifted toward another door in the corner of the bedroom, which, by its position, appeared to lead to a bathroom.

Pushing open the door, you entered the bathroom, where a dimly lit yellow light illuminated simple decor, including what looked like a bathtub meant for children, with some toys floating on top.

You approached the bathtub and looked down into it, noting that the water within was still clear, allowing you to see right through to what lay at the bottom.

After a thorough search, you found nothing of consequence, leaving you slightly puzzled.

"There’s something in the water!"

Ruan Yuling’s sudden exclamation took you by surprise, and as you quickly turned around, you looked down to find a porcelain doll slowly emerging from the clear depths, its hand slightly raised. Upon closer inspection, you noticed it was actually holding a key.

Without much thought, you stepped forward and snatched the key from its grasp. As soon as the key was removed, the porcelain doll slowly sank back down.

But as the doll sank, the water that was once clear began to turn red, quickly transforming to the color of blood, and its thickness matched that of blood as well!

"Click, click-click-click!"

Ominous sounds emanated from the bathtub, and in that moment, the porcelain dolls inside began to climb out on their own!

"Let’s go!"

As you turned to flee, you grabbed a wooden stool from nearby and smashed it with all your might against the blood-covered porcelain doll crawling out of the bathtub!

After the doll broke apart, an even more chilling scene unfolded—the bathtub spurred another porcelain doll to climb out, followed by a second and a third, as if there was no end to them!

Without a second thought, you grabbed Ruan Yuling’s hand and rushed out of the bathroom, charging to the bedroom door and diving directly into the darkness.

Just as before, the maze hadn’t disappeared. Following the original path, you quickly returned to the initial room.

At this time, the half-human-sized porcelain doll was still crashing against the wall.

"Get lost!"

As you ran ahead with Ruan Yuling, you kicked the half-human-sized porcelain doll, shattering its head completely!

"You go in first!"

While Ruan Yuling was ducking into the passageway, you glanced back only to discover that the three open doors of darkness were spilling out a horde of porcelain dolls!

Ruan Yuling glanced back and was also startled by the sight, no longer concerned about anything else, she frantically crawled through the passageway.

You quickly followed Ruan Yuling, and upon reaching the room with the locked door, you hurriedly relocked the cabinet door.

However, no sooner had you locked the door than banging noises began from within—the porcelain dolls were hitting the door!

"We must find the piano score quickly, or else things will get troublesome this time."

In haste, you rushed to the locked door and inserted the key into the hole with swift movements. With a gentle twist, a "click" sounded—the lock finally yielded!

"Bang!"

At that moment, the cabinet door was broken open by the force of the porcelain dolls!

Whirling around, you couldn’t help but scream in horror, "South Ocean Ghost Puppet! Damn, it’s indeed related to witchcraft!"
