I Have a Date with a Thousand-year-old Female Corpse -
Chapter 131: Entering the Tomb_1
Chapter 131: Chapter 131: Entering the Tomb_1
Students from Eastern Sea University, the four girls, in fact, had been eager to try and upon hearing your words, they immediately came out to stand up for their female peers.
"It’s not fair just because women’s bodies are Yin, and the Yin energy in the Underground Palace is extremely heavy. Once you encounter something filthy and evil, you will become their first targets for attack, perhaps even get possessed. I certainly don’t want to end up stabbing through the chest of one of my own teammates."
As you said this, you jumped down into the pit without hesitation.
"Wow—"
"So fierce!"
The boys hadn’t expected you to jump into that death pit without any preparation, and they unanimously praised you, with admiration pouring forth.
"Fan Yi, hand me the long package."
"Oh."
Although Fan Yi really wanted to go down with you, she always followed your orders unconditionally. She picked up the heavy long package and threw it down to you.
"Wow!"
This time, it was you who cried out.
"Bang!"
Just as your voice cried out, a heavy thud echoed from inside the pit.
Everyone looked down to see that, at the critical moment, you had jumped to the side and avoided being hit by the heavy long package.
"Phew— that was close! If it had hit me, I reckon it would’ve crippled me if not killed me."
"I’m so sorry, I—" Fan Yi hurriedly apologized.
"It’s okay, look, I’m fine." You picked up the long package with a grin, then swung it like a club, smashing it heavily against the cracked stone door!
"Bang!"
The stone door shattered upon impact.
The moment the stone door broke open, everyone except Fan Yi instinctively stepped back. After all, everyone feared death and was worried about encountering a curse that would make them scratch themselves to death, as you had described.
"Mu Yun, are you alright?" Du Xishan cautiously approached after a few seconds.
"Lao Du, are you coming down or not? If not, I’m just going to hail a cab back."
Speaking of descending into tombs, you really weren’t keen on it. After all, such activities could harm one’s Yin virtue. Although you were descending into the tomb in an official capacity, this was still someone’s Yin House and you were uninvited guests. The tomb owner would certainly not welcome you.
Normally, the owner of an ancient tomb would have been reincarnated several times over, so grave-descending usually didn’t encounter any problems. But there are always exceptions and what if, just by chance, you happened to meet one?
Ptui! Ptui! Ptui!
You mustn’t hold such a mindset!
Upon hearing your words, Du Xishan hurriedly said, "Just wait a moment, I’ll get ready and be right there."
With that, Du Xishan ran at a quick pace back towards the camp.
"Lao Du, grab my backpack for me too."
Sun Lin couldn’t leave right away; if he went down, the team on the surface would need someone to lead them, so he turned to a middle-aged male colleague of his — a man of few words, who had hardly said anything from the beginning to now, with virtually zero presence.
Sun Lin temporarily appointed him as the leader, instructing him to establish a camp nearby.
With the old locust tree destroyed, the so-called taboo was broken. Sun Lin had the students set up the camp on this side and maintain communication with the outside world in case the passage below got blocked and they had to rely on more people, even heavy machinery, to help.
"Handsome, Fan Yi’s little sister is under our protection; rest assured," said two female students from Eastern Sea University as they volunteered to stand by Fan Yi’s side. One of them turned to you with a meaningful smile, "Do your best, and who knows, you might get a huge surprise from Fan Yi’s little sister when you come up."
You remained silent, while the two chatterbox girls giggled and led Fan Yi away.
Soon enough, Du Xishan and Sun Lin descended into the pit together via a flexible ladder. Du Xishan was braver; he walked up to you, glanced into the broken stone gate, and found only darkness within, unable to see anything.
Sun Lin, who always preferred to be cautious, asked before entering, "Little Li, just the three of us, is that really okay?"
"If you can call two more people to come in, it’s no problem. To enter this Death Gate, you need an odd number," you replied, adding, "Of course, those two people you call in would essentially be scapegoats."
"It can’t be as exaggerated as you say, right?" Sun Lin forced a smile.
"Old Sun, you really don’t need to worry too much. We’re not here to hunt for treasures but to investigate," Du Xishan patted Sun Lin’s shoulder and said, "As long as we confirm there’s an ancient site inside, we can report directly to the province, or even to higher authorities. Then, we can mobilize more machinery for a proper excavation, and we won’t have to worry about anything afterward."
Sun Lin nodded and sighed, "Why do I feel like you and your disciple have set me up this time?"
Du Xishan laughed and pushed Sun Lin a bit, "Relax, with this lad leading the way, we won’t die."
You looked at Du Xishan speechlessly and headed straight into the cave with your long package.
Inside the cave, it was pitch black; outside light couldn’t penetrate at all.
However, at that moment, your eyes warmed slightly, and even though it was too dark to see a hand in front of one’s face, to your eyes, it might as well have been broad daylight.
"Mu Yun, slow down a bit."
Du Xishan and Sun Lin struggled to keep up behind you, as they lacked your night vision ability.
After entering the cave, you found a steep, sloping passage.
Although you could see clearly, you dared not walk too fast, taking each step with great care to avoid triggering any fatal mechanisms underfoot.
Beyond the slope, a corridor appeared before you.
The corridor wasn’t wide, about a meter or so, but it was incredibly long, seeming to stretch far enough for a hundred-meter sprint.
"This corridor is way too long, isn’t it?"
"Yes, the light doesn’t even reach the end."
However, after a careful look, you shook your head and said, "This isn’t a corridor, it’s a trap."
With that, you picked up a small stone from the side and tossed it down the pitch-black corridor. You didn’t throw it with much force, so logic dictated you should hear the sound of the stone hitting the ground soon. But even after several seconds passed, there was no sound.
"What’s going on?"
Du Xishan took a few steps forward with his Wolf’s eye flashlight and gasped in shock, "Damn it! It’s really a trap!"
You and Sun Lin moved closer and discovered that the path ahead was not a corridor but a vertical abyss, a bottomless chasm that meant certain death for anyone who fell in.
"We’ve hit a dead end so soon; what do we do now?" asked Sun Lin.
Du Xishan began to tap on the neighboring rock wall, "There should be a mechanism around here by logic."
As they spoke, a loud "click" echoed, followed by a massive Broken dragon stone crashing down, separating you completely from Du Xishan.
"Old Du!"
Sun Lin urgently called out to Du Xishan.
"I’m fine; just blocked off and can’t get through."
"Don’t panic, let’s look around some more."
This was your first encounter with such a situation; your eyes started heating up, and soon the Mysterious Seal appeared again!
