Part 2
“Let’s go buy some presents!”
Lexia declared loudly and cheerfully as she set off.
Luna, Yuti, and I were also going shopping, so there were four of us in all.
Kaori, who was letting us use her house for the Christmas party, had welcomed Lexia-san and the others, so they would officially be able to attend the party.
I set out with them to buy presents for the gift exchange at the party.
Having completely adapted to life on Earth, Lexia-san and the others were wearing their favorite clothes and attracting attention from those around them.
Lexia-san was wearing a knit shirt, a skirt, and a half-coat.Luna wore a knit blouse, pants, and a down jacket. Yuti wore a simple dress with a coat over it.
Yeah, without realizing it, everyone has completely assimilated into this world’s culture.
I didn’t have a smartphone yet, but maybe I’ll get one for everyone someday.
By the way, I was wearing the clothes I got from Hikari-san during the photo shoot.
As I was thinking about that, we arrived at the shopping mall.
“Well, we’re here. What should we do? Shall we look around the stores together?”
When Luna said that, Lexia-san shook her head.
“Luna, no. That’s no fun!”
“No, fun isn’t necessary…”
“It is! We’re going to exchange gifts, right? And we don’t know whose gift is whose.”
“That’s true.”
“Then it’s more fun if we don’t know what the gifts are until we open them!”
“Hmm, that’s a reasonable argument coming from you, Lexia…”
“What do you mean, ‘coming from me’?”
“It means exactly what I said.”
As usual, Lexia and Luna had a brief argument, but since we were outside, it quickly subsided.
“Anyway, this is a fun event, so let’s make it even more fun! Let’s go look around the shops and pick out presents. Is that okay with you, Yuti?”
“Not interested. Either is fine.”
“Be more interested!”
“Ahaha…”
Lexia couldn’t help but smile wryly at Yuti’s blunt attitude. Luna spoke up.
“I understand what you’re saying, Lexia. But I’m your bodyguard. I can’t leave you alone.”
“What? It’s fine! This world is safer than ours…”
“No way. You’re coming with me to look for presents.”
“Ah, wait a minute!”
With that, Luna grabbed Lexia-san’s hand and quickly walked away.
“Ah, come to think of it, we didn’t decide on a meeting place. Is that okay?”
“No problem. I can sense their presence.”
“No, that’s only for Yuti and Luna…”
“? Yuuya can do it, too.”
“No, no, I can’t…”
Before I could finish, I casually activated my Presence Detection skill.
Originally, this skill only allowed me to detect presence, not locate specific individuals.
But…
“…I can do it.”
I could easily distinguish Lexia-san and the others’ presence.
Hearing my mutter, Yuti nodded.
“Naturally. Yuuya has Divine Authority. It would be strange if you couldn’t do it.”
“…I see.”
As Yuti said, it was a natural result.
I haven’t tested the full extent of my power yet, but Divine Authority allowed me to perform feats similar to those of the gods, such as creating things out of nothing.
I hadn’t tried it on living beings yet, but I could create money. Of course, I wouldn’t do that, though.”
So, sensing someone’s presence was child’s play.
As I thought back on my superhuman abilities and gazed into the distance, Yuti also moved.
“Started. I’ll go shopping too.”
“Oh, okay.”
Actually, I should go shopping, too.
However, I had no idea what to buy.
…What kind of things should I buy at a time like this?
I’ve never exchanged gifts before, and I have no idea what would make someone happy.
I’d be happy to get tissues or toilet paper, but I know those aren’t typical gifts.
“No, but something useful would be good.”
With that in mind, I entered the store and looked around.
Hmm… Oh, stationery would be good, too. Come to think of it, I need to replace my eraser soon.
Oh, and that soap set at the other store looks good, too. The soap at home is almost gone.
No, I end up wanting everything for myself!
“Something too expensive or too big would be a problem. Choosing a gift is harder than I thought.”
While I was thinking about this and that and looking around various stores, something caught my eye.
“Is that a mug?”
Looking closely, I saw various fashionable miscellaneous goods, which seemed perfect as gifts.
As I looked around, I found that they also sold aromatic candles, not just mugs. They’re so classy!
I had focused on things I wanted, or that was practical. However, since it was a gift, it might have been better to choose something somewhat practical that I wouldn’t normally buy.
In that sense, the candles might be a good choice.
With that in mind, I looked around the store for a while and finally decided on the mug I had noticed first, the candles and some gentle, nice-smelling soap.
“Okay, I think this is good.”
After finishing my shopping, I looked around to see where everyone was.
Yuti seemed to be the closest, so I decided to check on her first.
As I approached, I saw her in a store full of stuffed animals.
I was about to call out to her when I noticed something was wrong.
“Yuti?”
“…”
She was standing in front of the largest stuffed bear in the store, staring intently at it.
The bear leaned against the wall but was almost as tall as Yuti—really huge.
What is it? Is there something about that stuffed animal?
Unlike the rest of us, Yuti has the power to predict the future. Maybe something is going to happen to that teddy bear.
As I thought this, Yuti muttered under her breath.
“Cute.”
“Eh?”
“Hope. I want to take this teddy bear home…”
“…”
I thought there was something special about that teddy bear, but she just liked it.
I couldn’t help but smile wryly, and Yuti noticed.
“Found. Yuuya, did you buy the present?”
“Yeah, I did. Did you buy yours, Yuti?”
“Yes, I did too. Here.”
Yuti said this as she showed me the present, which was wrapped in a bag with the contents hidden.
However, she immediately shifted her gaze back to the huge teddy bear in front of her.
“But separately from that, I want this stuffed animal.”
“No, even if you say you want it… How much does it cost?”
“500,000 yen.”
“……Should we give up?”
“Too bad. I’m sad…”
Hearing this, Yuti slumped her shoulders.
No matter what, I couldn’t spend 500,000 yen on a stuffed animal.
Besides, we don’t have any space for such a big stuffed animal in our house.
“The storage room.”
“You’re going to put it there!?”
I was taken aback by her unexpected words.
The storage room Yuti was referring to was where my grandfather had collected things from all over before he passed away.
No, I guess we could put it there.
It was a crazy room where all kinds of forces swirl around, wasn’t it?
If we put this stuffed bear there, it’ll definitely start moving someday.”
Yuti looked at the stuffed bear with a hint of regret but eventually gave up. I breathed a sigh of relief.
I was worried she’d start arguing.
“Um… then let’s go to Lexia-san’s place.”
“Understood.”
We searched for them again and headed toward Lexia-san and Luna.
It seemed that Lexia-san and Luna were in an unfamiliar shop.
“This is… a cosplay shop?”
It sold various anime and game costumes. It was the first time I had ever seen such a shop.
“No, more importantly… Why are they at a cosplay shop?”
“Question: Want to go in?”
“…Well, we have no choice but to go in.”
As we stepped inside, we saw a variety of items for sale, including costumes and accessories.
“This is an amazing store…”
“──As I said! Try this outfit on!”
“No, where’s the gift element in this outfit?”
Then, we heard Lexia-san and Luna arguing from the back of the store.
“There’s no way this fits the theme of the event! Besides, we already bought a present!”
“Oh, shut up! Just go change already!”
“You spoiled princess…”
Yuti and I exchanged glances and headed toward the voices coming from the fitting room area.
When I saw what Lexia-san was wearing, my eyes widened.
“Eh, Lexia-san!?”
“Ara, Yuuya-sama!”
Lexia-san was standing there in a nurse’s uniform.
It wasn’t a normal nurse’s uniform, though; it had been altered for cosplay with an unusually short skirt.
While I was surprised by her unexpected outfit, Lexia-san asked us in her usual tone.
“Did you two buy your presents?”
“Y-yes, we did, but…what on earth are you wearing?”
“──Lexia, you don’t have any complaints about this, do you?”
“Eh?”
Suddenly, the curtain of the closed fitting room opened, and Luna emerged wearing a bunny girl costume!
“What!? Yu-Yuuya!”
“Ara! It suits you!”
Luna noticed me, blushed, and froze while Lexia-san laughed innocently.
Luna tried to rush back into the fitting room in a panic.
However, Lexia-san stopped her.
“Hey, why are you trying to hide?”
“I didn’t hear that Yuuya was coming!”
“But he just got here!”
“Kuh! Still, I’m wearing this now, so you should be satisfied. I’m going to change!”
“What? Let’s enjoy it a little longer.”
“Enjoy what?”
I opened my mouth, stunned by the two of them starting to argue again.
“Um, what’s going on here?”
When I asked, Luna hid her body in the fitting room and answered.
“…After we finished buying presents, Lexia became interested in this store. She said it’s a place where you can dress up in unusual outfits, so she gave in to her curiosity and ended up like this…”
“I-I see…”
“Unchanging. The usual Lexia.”
Yeah, Yuti was right. This was definitely the usual Lexia.
As I thought this, Lexia-san spun around in front of me.
“Well? Yuuya-sama! It’s a new outfit, but I think it looks good on me. What do you think?”
“I-I guess so…”
Honestly, the outfit was very revealing, and I didn’t know where to look!
Then, I noticed that Luna was trying to tell me something with her eyes.
“(Yuuya, please convince Lexia somehow!)”
“Ah…”
Lexia-san aside, Luna wasn’t used to dressing like this.
“Um… I’m getting hungry. Shouldn’t we head back?”
“Ara, is it already time? It’s a shame, but I guess we have to go.”
“Phew…”
Lexia-san seemed willing to go home, so Luna and I breathed a sigh of relief.
However, I was surprised by what Lexia-san said next.
“Then let’s buy outfits for Luna and me and go home!”
“E-ehh!?”
“W-why so suddenly?”
I looked at her with a puzzled expression, surprised by her unexpected words.
“Huh? But there’s a Christmas party, right?”
“That’s right.”
“These are costumes for that!”
“Huh?”
What should I do? I had no idea what she’s talking about.
“I heard about it! Kaede and the others are making costumes for the Christmas party. I thought we should get some, too!”
“What, really!?”
I was surprised because I hadn’t heard anything about them preparing cosplay outfits for the party.
“That’s why we’re going to buy Christmas party outfits at this store. Of course, for Yuuya-sama too!”
“Me too?”
“Of course! I heard that Kaede and the others are preparing outfits for Yuuya-sama, too. We can buy some, too, right?”
“Are Kaede and the others preparing costumes too?”
Things were progressing too fast without my knowledge!
“That’s right, Luna and Yuti! Let’s go pick out costumes for the Christmas party!”
“Kuh! Why did this happen?!”
“Give up. No one can stop Lexia now.”
Luna grimaced while Yuti stared into the distance.
I, too, was dragged into helping Lexia choose her outfit.
