Chapter 79: Chapter 73: Determining Age by the Shell
In the control room, Gu Shanhai peered through the ventilation shaft at the remaining alien, the others were in the conference room perhaps discussing what to do next.
He estimated that hitting each of them with a healing spell was highly likely to kill them instantly; given their low health bars and the amount of health recovery Gu Shanhai could provide, it would surely overflow.
However, this would likely cause quite a commotion, and he would lose the greatest advantage of remaining hidden.
Besides, killing them seemed a bit of a loss; knocking them out would be better.
Then the question arose again... was it certain that these creatures could be knocked unconscious?
Although humanoid, they were covered in carapaces, and one could not be sure using common sense.
He glanced at the guide in his hand, which only told him to proceed with the attack and did not specify how to knock them out or whether to kill them.
"Alright, I’ll have to rely on instinct then, what matters is to be strong and forceful!"
Gu Shanhai fashioned the Spirit Blade into a ball, imitating a handgun trigger and firing it off; the Spirit Blade smashed into the backs of the aliens. It wasn’t too loud, but one thing was for sure—these aliens could take a beating.
With that force, a current-stage player would be on the brink of death with just a sliver of health remaining if not for their health bar being wiped out, yet these aliens merely fell unconscious due to the heavy blow, which really showed how tough they were.
"Alien species, having some genetic engineering technology is quite normal," Gu Shanhai came out of the ventilation shaft and quickly began to operate according to the guide.
He worked efficiently, even though a bunch of unreadable things kept popping up, as long as he followed the sequence, everything went smoothly.
As he finished his maneuvers, the massive spacecraft began to move, descending toward the coordinates pre-set by He Lingyun.
Naturally, this action caught the attention of the other aliens, who began to use the internal system to inquire why the control room personnel were unauthorizedly piloting the spacecraft away.
Although Gu Shanhai couldn’t understand, he could guess that this was a normal reaction, which he would also typically ask about.
After finishing his tasks, he naturally prepared to leave; someone would surely come to investigate now.
There was no chance of emerging victorious in a free-for-all fight—if one just considered the beating those unconscious aliens could withstand, they were not someone easy to kill.
Moreover, since these personnel were not armed, Gu Shanhai had managed to execute a surprise attack; had they been fully equipped, Gu Shanhai would surely lose.
He Lingyun could strategize because he had cheats; Gu Shanhai’s cheats weren’t sufficient, so escaping was the priority.
Besides, He Lingyun was probably crafting corresponding weapons; without those weapons, Gu Shanhai figured he wouldn’t stand a chance in the arena with these aliens.
This was a gap in civilization and sheer power.
He Lingyun spoke of it effortlessly, but Gu Shanhai didn’t think it was, feeling some pressure.
He quickly returned above the ventilation shaft, carefully lying in wait, doing his utmost to suppress his own presence.
It was too late to escape; what if he was noticed during his movement?
Sure enough, a dozen fully-armed aliens arrived and immediately began inspecting the area.
The electromagnetic shielder on him could shield electronic devices but not the aliens’ auditory and visual senses.
After a search, more aliens, likely experts, came in and started to click away at the control console.
They seemed somewhat impatient, as if the situation was irreparable.
Then they spoke something unintelligible into a device that appeared to be a communicator.
Seeing this, Gu Shanhai knew that the dust had settled; the guide plan provided by He Lingyun had locked down certain programs. He couldn’t understand the content, and probably neither could He Lingyun when handing him the plan—it was simply transcribed by the book.
Regardless, the matter was finished now, with the furious aliens swiftly departing the control room with their armed personnel. They seemed likely to physically disrupt the process.
That meant going to interfere with the engine room and other areas directly, preventing the landing.
’The thing they’re exiling must not be simple; otherwise, they wouldn’t be so wary.’
Under normal circumstances, they’d have attacked by now instead of all this complication, hovering and fearing.
’What’s next, the weapons depot?’
’Like hell; it’s definitely swarming with people right now, the whole army’s been mobilized; if I go now, it wouldn’t be walking into a trap, but I wouldn’t be able to find anything good.’
Gu Shanhai quickly dismissed the idea, although there was a guide in the plan, it just didn’t match his thinking.
The strategy in the plan was for him to head to the conference room and try to tie up the decision-makers, and to not alert anyone if possible.
Before, Gu Shanhai wouldn’t have hesitated, but having witnessed the overall strength of the aliens, he wavered.
The aliens had no supernatural abilities, but their physical fitness and weapons were far beyond his current stage, so there was a risk.
’First, go take a look, if it’s not viable, then just stay put.’
Gu Shanhai was no fool; he could scope things out first.
From the social structure of these aliens, it wasn’t a might-makes-right system but similar to human society, where those in power weren’t necessarily the strongest, so there was a chance.
