Chapter 71: Chapter 69: Basic Class Compound Superpowers
"He Lingyun really has money to burn; he has no idea what this superpower fusion technique actually represents... Alright, even if he knew, he wouldn’t care."
After reviewing the technology, Gu Shanhai also understood its value.
Although it wasn’t suitable for him, it did give him a new direction. With some modifications, he could transform it into his own superpower.
A superpower formed through fusion technology could be called a composite superpower, meaning one superpower has multiple effects. He Lingyun, on the other hand, had multiple powers, each distinct.
Neither was necessarily better than the other. The former suited people like Gu Shanhai, who wanted power but whose attributes didn’t match, while the latter was innate and beyond what ordinary people could afford.
Of course, for players, they would be considered advanced talents: one was a variety of random-level talents.
"I need to build the fusion model before experimenting. The model He Lingyun gave me is supposed to integrate a hundred abilities, but I doubt it can withstand that many."
He Lingyun was a straightforward man, directly filling the preset fusion model with nine hundred and ninety-nine types of superpower models. If a native had tough enough luck, they could indeed awaken to success, but Gu Shanhai didn’t believe he was that lucky.
His idea was simple, a fusion of just five types would suffice: life, energy, physique, perception, and affinity for plants.
However, he didn’t have much confidence. Structurally there were no issues, but the more complex the superpower structure used on the body, the lower the success rate of the composite superpower.
Moreover, affinity for plants was far more challenging than the four basic categories because it was more complex.
After much thought, he decided to remove the plant affinity and replace it with mental enhancement, another fundamental category. Although not plant-specific like affinity, it had broader applications and could temporarily suffice.
Thinking it through, he added all basic categories of superpowers, including strength enhancement and agility enhancement, to a total of seven. Of course, he left out more unique ones like soul enhancement and luck enhancement, which required materials from other worlds.
In the end, the seven superpowers formed a stable fusion. The data on paper suggested success.
But when Gu Shanhai simulated and deduced, it was a failure.
"Mana?" Gu Shanhai quickly identified the reason for the failure.
Firstly, He Lingyun didn’t know he possessed mana. The mana in his body was no longer pure but had been repeatedly improved, incorporating the "Child Skill" Inner Strength and Xuanwei Sect’s mana, to form an energy type unique to Gu Shanhai.
In other words, the superpowers would be judged as invaders by his mana or even his body and then eliminated immediately. His immune system was already very strong. If an average native had his constitution, their chances of surviving the awakening of a superpower could surge to 15%.
That was already impressive. Even if his simulation of implanting the composite superpower failed and led to genetic collapse, the immune system would work hard to eliminate what it saw as invaders. But the problem was, Gu Shanhai couldn’t withstand it, much like a virus or bacteria in his body—they had to die.
"So, I still need to make adaptations. Although the entire fusion technique doesn’t need to be overturned, after this round of alterations, I guess not much will be left."
After some consideration, Gu Shanhai realized that He Lingyun had only provided him with an idea and a small part of the data.
But well, having such an idea was enough. Success equals 99% hard work plus 1% inspiration, but often that 1% inspiration is more important than 99% effort.
This was Einstein’s famous saying. While people often only remember the first half, Gu Shanhai was precisely stuck on the second half. He Lingyun had provided that 1% inspiration; the rest was up to his own efforts.
This was incredibly good news.
If he really used He Lingyun’s model, he wouldn’t have tried it, as it really wasn’t suitable.
"I initially thought to birth the superpower and then integrate it into the system, but now it seems that won’t work; the amount of work has at least increased tenfold."
"It’s lucky that He Lingyun gave me this superpower radiation crystal. If it had only been superpower core shards, that really wouldn’t have been enough."
"But now that it’s crystallized, could the superpower radiation be from some living organism?"
Gu Shanhai couldn’t see through He Lingyun’s current strength, but from his perception, it might already be about one ten-thousandth of the strength of a peak human god. At the current stage, perhaps only those players with heaven-defying talents could stand up to him for a round or two. Other players couldn’t win even if they wanted to use a zerg rush tactic.
Moreover, He Lingyun’s multiple superpowers would provide an even higher ceiling, potentially advancing the entire civilization into the interstellar era sooner and allowing Utopia to rule the universe more quickly.
Though it was possible that Gu Shanhai wouldn’t live to see this.
"Am I considered to have made friends with this human god now?" Gu Shanhai pondered.
As for the origins of the superpowers that He Lingyun had killed? That had nothing to do with him at all. He even benefited a bit from it.
