Chapter 421: Chapter 236: Already Successfully Categorized in the Laboratory_2

Another reason is that the Holy Kingdom might have been bloated by this illusion of grandeur for so long, leading the nobles to truly believe they were of immense importance. Such an atmosphere was unique to the Holy Kingdom, and once outside, nobody gave a damn about this bunch. Fortunately, these people also harbored a ’Heaven ranks first, I rank second’ mentality and considered other races inferior. Forget about establishing foreign relations; even when these other races entered the Holy Kingdom, the nobles couldn’t stand sharing the same air with them.

"Don’t bother with them, these folks have little skill but put on quite a show. If they weren’t necessary, I’d have slaughtered them long ago," Gu Shanhai said with some resignation.

The commoners couldn’t be counted on either because of the monopoly on knowledge. All the commoners were illiterate and had been tamed to be very honest, to the point where they dared not cross class lines.

Awakening was out of the question; Gu Shanhai didn’t have the resources to tackle that.

After all, he wasn’t here to save the world; he was here to reap benefits. As long as the rewards were lucrative enough, he’d even become a Demon King and destroy the world.

Transcendents were even less likely to help. Whether it was the Royal Capital City Guard or the Royal Palace Guard, they were all in cahoots with the nobility, with many of them being nobles themselves.

So he had to make do with that less-than-stellar group of nobles. What else could he possibly do?

"By the way, the goods have arrived; you guys can pick first. Leave the plants for me, and copy the Cultivation Technique for me," Gu Shanhai remembered the recent plundering events.

The more people he killed, the more efficient the plundering became. Those who outwardly complied but secretly opposed him were no longer an issue, as the nobles responsible for the plunderings were also conveniently plundered by Gu Shanhai, so everything ended up in his hands.

In fact, most of the nobles were already dead; there weren’t many left. Gu Shanhai had been using them while killing them off.

He had nearly collapsed the entire management system of the Royal Capital.

It didn’t matter much anyway, Gu Shanhai’s experiment was nearly complete, and he would soon unify the entire Hero Continent.

"Plants? Big God, why do you want that stuff? You might not even be able to take it with you," Hualou Chun was puzzled. He didn’t want much, more interested in Gold Coins, and as for equipment, a level 100 set would suffice.

In this regard, he was quite self-aware. To expect everything while being carried by a Big God would be ungrateful.

"My talent comes in handy," Gu Shanhai once again used his talent as a shield. It worked quite well; most people didn’t pry further, as it involved personal privacy.

"But that’s not urgent; we can pick together when the Big God is over," Hualou Chun just thought of agreeing when Taohua Xiao spoke up first.

To agree now would show a complete lack of tact. How could they choose first, just being sidekicks? What if Gu Shanhai held a grudge? It would be better to go together.

"Then you guys will have to wait; I’ve got a lot of matters to deal with," Gu Shanhai hadn’t thought that much into it. To him, things of marginal value were not a concern.

He didn’t care much for Gold Coins, and as for equipment, most of it was Magic equipment, which he didn’t fancy much.

The magic technology of this subsidiary world was too primitive for him, so primitive he could hardly bear to look.

If it weren’t for the high level of his main world, Gu Shanhai might not have been delegated to such a weak subsidiary world.

What intrigued him were plants and Cultivation Techniques. As for technology? It was worthless in a world where magic required chanting, devoid of any super-magic techniques. Probably the most valuable were the statues of the Goddess, which were used to summon heroes and bestow blessings.

This statue of the Goddess was now stuffed by Gu Shanhai into the static space of the Mother-child Grass. It wasn’t convenient to study it at present; it could wait until he left the world.

Despite the Holy Kingdom’s nature, this Goddess might very well exist and even be a powerful being from the Hero World’s main world, out of Gu Shanhai’s reach for the time being. To research it might be an act of blasphemy.

In a world bereft of Divine beings, blasphemy wouldn’t matter. But in a world where gods existed, one had to be cautious. The gods could sense blasphemy, especially in such a mighty world, where a lightning bolt could strike across realms, wiping out an individual instantaneously.

"Not in a hurry, we’re not in much of a rush either," Hualou Chun managed a forced smile, quickly realizing what his wife meant, and thus hurriedly swallowed the promise he had made earlier, coming up with a new excuse.

"Fine, if you two don’t want to go pick it, that’s okay. I have something else for you to do."

"Know where the water source in the Royal Capital is?" Gu Shanhai asked, since they weren’t picking, he’d give them work to do.

The two nodded, "We know; we’ve asked around."

"Good, next you’ll dump this stuff into the water source." As he spoke, Gu Shanhai pulled out a large canister of clear liquid from beneath the table; it seemed odorless.

"Boss, what is this?" Hualou Chun asked, somewhat puzzled.

"A special gene potion. After drinking it, a person becomes incredibly strong, feels no pain, and will follow our commands," Gu Shanhai summed it up briefly.

It was the latest product of fleshcrafting technology, fashioned after wasps as the basic model. As long as Gu Shanhai possessed the Queen Bee, he could issue commands via pheromones. Otherwise, normally fleshcrafted monsters were brainless, solely focused on mindless slaughter.

Originally, he had planned to use ants, but since ants can’t fly, it seemed a bit awkward.

"You’re planning to turn all NPCs into our temporary summons?" Hualou Chun hadn’t expected Gu Shanhai to carry out such a wildly unethical biological transformation, thinking it was just some sort of temporary control potion.

"Pretty much, or else ruling over the entire Holy Kingdom wouldn’t be so easy for us, let alone the potential third ring to rule the entire Hero Continent. Therefore, we need enough manpower to help."

"It’s just... you’ve seen the NPC attitude toward us. Even the heroes who came to save them showed no respect, so we had to find a way to control them ourselves." Gu Shanhai said it very calmly.

Hualou Chun and Taohua Xiao didn’t really care about the fates of the NPCs; if they died, they died, and a mass death was just that.

They weren’t strangers to committing mass slaughter; sometimes NPCs were worthless, even when you were trying to help them, they’d think of stabbing you in the back.

"How long can they be controlled?" Hualou Chun asked, a bit worried.

"Worse come to worst, we’ll feed them periodically. It’s much cheaper than those poisons used to control the nobles and guards." Gu Shanhai implied it was inexpensive, not revealing that the effect was permanent; he didn’t feel the need to explain too much to these two.

If they were scholars, Gu Shanhai would love to discuss it with them, for there would be plenty to talk about. But in his eyes, both were just errand-runners, tools; even if he did explain, they wouldn’t understand.

"All right, we’ll get right on it. How much of it should we use?" Hualou Chun wasn’t stupid; since Gu Shanhai was holding a whole canister without any specific measurements, he had to ask.

"Just go by what you see. A large source, use more. If there’s not enough, come back for more." As Gu Shanhai spoke, he pointed towards a storage room nearby, indicating there was plenty more.

For a moment, Hualou Chun was shocked. It was his first time seeing supplies measured by the warehouse, truly extravagant.

He also guessed that Gu Shanhai might not just specialize in support roles but also possessed high-level and high-grade crafting skills. Otherwise, how could he make so much stuff?

"Alrighty, boss, just you watch. I’ll make sure to use up your whole warehouse of supplies," Hualou Chun declared, thumping his chest.

"That’s what I like to hear," Gu Shanhai responded with a laugh, knowing a whole warehouse wasn’t a small amount. He hadn’t dared to set such a task, and he hadn’t expected someone would voluntarily take on such responsibility; it saved him a lot of trouble.

Of course, Gu Shanhai wouldn’t really let them use up everything, he’d just let them do their best.
