Chapter 312: Chapter 182: Riding the Clouds to Heaven Sect, Master and Disciple Become a Lineage
Time flew by, and it was already the second day since Gu Shanhai had arrived at the Five Elements Sect. He had finished reading all of the books, but he feigned as if he had not, flipping through the pages while his mind pondered when he could complete the trial.
Gu Shanhai was no fool; since Xia Xingyi had delivered a Fasting Pill yesterday and hadn’t returned, it was clear that he was investigating Gu Shanhai’s true identity.
"Someone is coming? Someone stronger than my limit state," Gu Shanhai vaguely sensed a certain gaze observing him, which puzzled him.
It was probably a Cultivator from the Spirit Origin Realm.
Logically, a common disciple just starting shouldn’t attract someone of such a high level. In Gu Shanhai’s estimation, at most it would be someone from the Purple Palace level; any higher would be overstepping.
"Such sharp perception; truly worthy of a reincarnated soul from the Cave Soul Realm," an elder standing beside Xia Xingyi stroked his beard and said, "Such strength, I’m afraid he’s already at Half-step Divine Phase, just unable to take that last step, and thus, he chose to be reincarnated."
"If cultivated well, he could become another Divine Phase Cultivator for our Chengyun Sect."
The elder spoke with satisfaction. Lacking such strength himself, the thought of gaining such a junior naturally brought him great pride.
"However, the mystery of this incarnation is not easy to solve," Xia Xingyi said somewhat helplessly.
"Qingli, that is not important. Whether or not he can solve it, he’s just a stepping stone."
"The help his memories can provide, our Chengyun Sect can also offer."
The elder spoke arrogantly. The Chengyun Sect wanted a Divine Phase Cultivator but wasn’t dependent on just one; they could fully afford it.
What they lacked was people, not things.
"But Master, I might not... be a good teacher," Xia Xingyi hesitated.
"Are you still in the shadow of your first four disciples?" The elder sighed. His four disciples hadn’t run away; they had died.
And for this reason, he had remained indecisive, afraid to step into the Purple Palace. The natural treasures long since prepared for him were complete; every time he thought of breaking through, he found impediments.
"As long as you cultivate Gu Shanhai, he might be able to help you, after all, mentor and disciple succeed one another." The elder said calmly, wishing to lend a hand but knowing that the real challenge was one that Xia Xingyi had to overcome himself.
"I will do my best." Xia Xingyi had initially intended for the sect to foster his development.
Even if he was tasked with the cultivation, the various resources needed for Gu Shanhai would not be paid by him but by the Chengyun Sect.
"As long as you understand, this is an opportunity." Having said this and given a few instructions, the elder left.
He had come to confirm Gu Shanhai’s true situation and, having done so, there was no need to stay. The next steps required Xia Xingyi to enroll Gu Shanhai onto the sect’s registry; then, he would officially become a disciple of the Chengyun Sect’s Five Elements branch, with proper lineage.
Xia Xingyi sighed and shook his head, "I hope my senior disciple lives longer this time and doesn’t die halfway through. If it happens again, I might have to request a transfer to become the City Lord."
Compared to acting as a branch Sect Leader, the role of City Lord was much tougher; naturally, the rewards were greater too.
"Any questions about these books?" Xia Xingyi opened the door to see Gu Shanhai sitting and reading, asking him.
"No major issues, rather it’s been quite an eye-opener," Gu Shanhai replied.
"Good, it’s great that you have such a mindset," Xia Xingyi complimented, continuing, "Since that’s the case, you can consider yourself a part of the sect."
"You and I will go to the main hall, where you’ll offer a cup of tea as a token of respect, and I’ll add you to the registry. From today onward, you shall call me Master."
"As for your name, Wude..."
"Let’s stick with Wude, no need to change it. It complements our Five Elements Sect quite well," Gu Shanhai said with a smile, worrying that if Xia Xingyi had a penchant for poor naming, it would complicate things.
Wude sounded good to him.
"Well then, let’s go with that," Xia Xingyi didn’t have much to say. The disciple initiation ceremony was simple; Gu Shanhai offered tea, Xia Xingyi used a magic artifact to add him to the register, and the process was straightforward.
Afterward, Xia Xingyi took out a jade slip and, with a flick, it turned into a radiant light and entered Gu Shanhai’s brow.
"This technique is the high-grade Qi Refining Method of our Chengyun Sect. Study it thoroughly, as it contains all the various qis of the world. You can pre-select and nurture a Qi seed later, once you’ve mastered the method and are able to carry out the refinement of the ambient qi from heaven and earth," Xia Xingyi shared the content thoughtfully, knowing that without mana, it would be impossible to read the contents of the jade slip.
Gu Shanhai intercepted the content in a flash, then proceeded to investigate it.
This cultivation technique was named "Qi Nourishing Breathing Technique," and if one spoke of high-grade, it was indeed top-notch. Whether it was the method to concentrate a Qi Seed or the process of refining Qi through breathing exercises, it belonged to a balanced and harmonious practice that could accommodate most of the world’s qi without the risks of deviation or many other problems.
If one were to condense the Qi Seed using a compatible qi from heaven and earth, they might even give birth to corresponding Divine Skills.
"Of course, if you want some special Qi Refining Methods, that is fine too. However, if you wish to enter the path, it will take some time."
"The Qi Seeds derived from the ambient qi of the world have no distinction in grade, only the heart of the person is different, and so are their desires."
Xia Xingyi actually didn’t want Gu Shanhai to choose special Qi Seeds like the Nine Nether Qi or Taiyin Essence Qi because while powerful, these types of qi would limit him. If a Nine Nether Qi Seed were condensed, then everything thereafter, whether it be the essence of all things or natural treasures, would need to be related to the Nine Nether.
