Chapter 291: Chapter 171: Little White, Use Stomp!_2
Thus, their plan was simple: first, to stabilize him, and then on the very last night, find an excuse to lure Gu Shanhai out of Luo Mansion, where Hu Mazi would make his move.
If Gu Shanhai were unwilling to go, it wouldn’t be too much of a problem; a dose of Knockout Drug would take care of it.
The main thing was that Luo Huaisong had insisted they not make a move in Luo Mansion. After all, it wouldn’t be appropriate to cause a commotion on such a celebratory day.
"Mr. Liang, my master would like to invite you to admire the moon," Housekeeper Luo knocked on the door, extending the invitation.
"..."
Oh, here it came already, but if he thought about the time, it was about right—half an hour later would be the time to act, but they’d have to get Gu Shanhai out of Luo Mansion first. It certainly wasn’t possible to really make a move inside Luo Mansion.
"Admire the moon? Sure," said Gu Shanhai, glancing at the dark clouds obscuring the sky. Admiring the moon? What a joke. At least find a more plausible excuse.
But Gu Shanhai pretended not to notice. Luo Huaisong had already laid the groundwork, such as last night’s pretext of "gathering inspiration" to capture Yu Niang, and the day before that, it was to "admire the flowers." The point was to find a place to eat and drink well.
If Gu Shanhai hadn’t known about these in advance, his automatic thinking could indeed have been deceived.
After exiting the door, he got on the prearranged carriage. The process had been the same the previous two times, so under normal circumstances, there would be no suspicion.
They left the town, and upon reaching the designated location, those from the Luo Family quietly withdrew, and Hu Mazi’s men took over without anyone noticing.
Gu Shanhai took a glance; it seemed they were heading into Hu Yun Mountain.
As for this, he didn’t stop them. He had guessed where they intended to take him—it was none other than their old den, Hu Mountain Cave.
Although abandoned, over the past two days—due to the one million silver coins and the matters concerning Mr. Luo’s estate—it had been reoccupied. They had prepared many weapons, planning to storm Luo Mansion after obtaining the money the following day.
There was no need to worry about the route; they were familiar with the path. Did they really think Hu Mountain Cave was a haven for the poor? No, it was a hideout for the wealthy, so naturally, they had a way to let the wealthy guests enter the mountain comfortably. Otherwise, they wouldn’t entertain the idea of clambering over hills and dales for the visit, regardless of its quality.
Thus, the carriage entered the mountain smoothly, even engaging in casual conversation with Gu Shanhai along the way to lower his guard.
"Mr. Gu, we’ve arrived," a bandit outside the carriage said calmly.
Gu Shanhai strolled out leisurely, looking quite composed, "Tch, this place isn’t half bad."
"Of course, it’s been quite renowned around these ten villages!" replied the bandit, helping Gu Shanhai down from the carriage, noting the group’s sense of service. Yet, why did they have to choose such a path? With that attitude, they could have easily prospered doing something legitimate.
"Speaking of which, do you bandits make much?" Gu Shanhai asked curiously.
The bandit’s expression shifted slightly upon hearing these words.
"It’s okay, barely enough to support a family," replied the bandit, feigning ignorance as he led Gu Shanhai towards Hu Mountain Cave.
"Really? Hu Mountain Cave is a notorious den for laundering gold. You’ve worked under Hu Mazi for so many years; he lives luxuriously while you eat scraps?" Gu Shanhai teased.
"It seems you are here because of Liang Xing’s matter."
The bandit didn’t respond. Instead, a large, burly, middle-aged man with a full beard, at least fifty years old—well beyond the average lifespan at the time—spoke up.
This man was Hu Mazi—the town’s meat monopolist who ran a pork business and was the former leader of the bandits at Hu Mountain Cave.
"Boss Hu, pleased to meet you, dog foster, dog foster~" Gu Shanhai’s voice sounded odd.
A cold gleam flashed in Hu Mazi’s eyes; he was clearly in a bad mood. After all, being insulted as a ’dog’ would upset anyone.
Yes, Gu Shanhai had done it on purpose, distorting the customary greeting into a ’dog,’ and why bother with courtesy when they’d already shown their true colors? He was no gentleman, anyway.
"Ah, my apologies, Boss Hu. I’ve got a bad accent, always mispronouncing ’greatly admire’ as ’dog foster.’ But you’re such an important figure; surely you won’t take it to heart," Gu Shanhai spoke with a level of insincere flattery that was nearly off the charts.
"Of course, how could I possibly be offended? Bring me some guests to entertain Mr. Gu properly so he learns what should be said and what should not," Hu Mazi growled fiercely.
Endure? Endure my ass, they’ve already got their hands on my people. As a bandit daring enough to run a gold mine, forcing the decent into prostitution, and engaging in the slaughter and extermination of entire households, how could he possibly have a good temper?
A group of bandits surrounded them with ferocious laughter, among them not only middle-aged men but also many young ones—it was clear to see they were following in their father’s footsteps.
"Come on, we’re all civilized people here, let’s talk it out, no need for violence," Gu Shanhai took a step back, then continued, "If you guys aren’t civilized, I’ll get uncivilized too."
Hearing this, the bandits all laughed, feeling that Gu Shanhai was totally clueless. A man who couldn’t do anything, how could he be uncivilized?
"Alright, you really plan on not heeding my advice, then."
Gu Shanhai sighed and then beckoned with his hand, shouting, "Little White, use Trample!"
Before the bandits could react, they saw a huge shadow tearing through the sky and descending rapidly.
Boom~
In an instant, a massive shockwave unfolded.
Those bandits close by were instantly turned into puddles of flesh.
Even those farther away had their heads spinning, blood flowing from all orifices—these probably suffered internal injuries and passed out, unlikely to survive. Only a few like Hu Mazi managed to stand more steadily, but still, at least one of them had a concussion.
Just like that, the bandits of Hu Mountain Cave were entirely wiped out.
"Got anything to say?" Gu Shanhai crouched down, looking at Hu Mazi who was struggling to get up.
Little White stood behind him, its massive body and all that muscle making it obvious it was a deer not to be trifled with. One poke from those antlers, and you wouldn’t be skewered sweet enough to be a candied haw, you’d turn into a sieve, which completely shattered Hu Mazi’s morale.
Everyone was just taking turns, and suddenly this big shot comes along, who wouldn’t break down?
"I... I... There’s nothing I want to say," Hu Mazi lowered his head, giving up the struggle.
"No, I think, you do have something to say," Gu Shanhai grabbed his collar and hoisted him up, hanging him on Little White’s antlers.
"I’ll give you three seconds to think of what to say, prepare your words. If you can’t, then don’t call yourself Hu Mazi anymore, you can be called Hu Bingzi or Hu Jiangzi," Gu Shanhai kindly finished saying and started counting, "Three, Little White charge!"
Little White decisively charged towards the wall of Hu Mountain Cave with Hu Mazi.
"I’ll talk, I’ll talk!!!" Hu Mazi, hearing Gu Shanhai skip one and two and jump straight to three—a counting method that didn’t play by the rules—was totally numb. Plus, the sense of his skin slicing from Little White’s charge scared him into submission immediately.
"Little White, stop~"
To Hu Mazi, Gu Shanhai’s voice at this moment was like the sound of heaven. Just an inch away, and he would have been crushed into a pile of mince.
"Huff~ Huff~"
As Little White backed away, Hu Mazi gasped heavily. He never wanted to experience that kind of life-or-death thrill ever again.
"Spill it, I’ll only give you this one chance. Next time, I’ll have your men scrape you off the wall," Gu Shanhai spoke leisurely.
Though Gu Shanhai didn’t specify what the man had to confess, he felt that the other party knew what he needed to come clean about.
As for what would happen if Gu Shanhai wasn’t satisfied afterwards, well, that would have to wait.
For now, Gu Shanhai was sizing up Hu Mazi, thinking it was somewhat a waste not to put all that flesh to good use—it would be worth a try to employ a little blood and flesh technique on him.
If it worked in Fengtai Village, then Qingxian Town had to experience it too—it’s only fair to see things through to the end.
Hu Mazi began to explain the situation of Liang Xing’s family, still feeling a chill on his back, as the way Gu Shanhai looked at him was spine-chilling cold.
