Chapter 244: Chapter 148: If You Don’t Follow the Plot, Be a Lawless Outlaw
Gu Shanhai felt this was way too arrogant, wasn’t it? The murder weapon lay blatantly on the table, without any attempt at hiding it.
Looking at the blood-stained dagger on the table, he felt numb; at least the last time, the pigeon blood powder was kept in a pocket, but now, it was as if they wanted to ensure he couldn’t live through the day.
"Dammit, there are even fingerprints, this is too much," Gu Shanhai observed carefully and found his fingerprints on the dagger, even on the blood stains, which were clearly evident. A simple comparison would certainly reveal it.
"No, this can’t go on any longer, or I’ll surely be killed by this thing," Gu Shanhai’s face darkened. It was completely biased; he might escape once or twice, but one failure could lead to disaster.
He then looked at three tubes of black gunpowder and decided not to let the inevitable pull him forward. He needed to figure out a way to deal with it.
Using his brain was too troublesome, he would just blow it up.
He picked up the black gunpowder and left the inn. It was early morning, and most people were already up, either studying or having breakfast.
There were still two soldiers standing at the door, obviously dispatched because of last night’s death incident at the Yuzhu Pavilion.
Gu Shanhai quickly found the inn’s load-bearing wall, and when no one noticed, he placed the three tubes of gunpowder at calculated positions and angles and camouflaged them well to ensure no one would discover them.
After doing this, he left the inn; the explosion was scheduled for ten minutes later. Timing the device was not a problem for him.
His departure from the inn was, of course, to continue stealing—or "borrowing" black gunpowder materials. The inn had to be blown up, and there was still a body inside.
Since it was early morning, everyone assumed the deceased had not yet woken up. As time passed, the body was bound to be discovered, so he planned to destroy all evidence.
As for making more black gunpowder, it was simple. He was not planning to remain an Advanced Scholar anymore; he intended to become an outlaw.
From the Yuzhu Pavilion to the Ministry of Rites and even the Eastern Palace, he planned to blow them all up. He didn’t care about any inheritance; his life was more important. Once he was out, he would take control of the Spiritual Energy source.
If he kept being led by the nose, he would only sink deeper into the mire.
Boom~
The explosion resounded, and Gu Shanhai felt a slight tremor in the ground. He was far enough away not to be significantly affected.
The chaos that spread from the inn as the center was gradually spreading, and Gu Shanhai couldn’t worry about much at this point. Following his last visit to the store, he casually "borrowed" a large quantity of black gunpowder raw materials and quickly disappeared into the crowd amidst the chaos.
He silently entered a hidden alley to start making black gunpowder. The chaos outside grew even more apparent, and Gu Shanhai heard the arrival of the government officials and the Imperial Army. This action was truly terrifying.
Gu Shanhai looked up at the sky and noticed a slight crack that had appeared, almost invisible. Most people would ignore it as an illusion.
But he knew that the inheritance was problematic.
The so-called world of inheritance was an illusory existence in itself, with an evolving, developing threshold. Gu Shanhai had interfered with the original development, causing the key points to be lost, forcing the whole to approach this threshold.
For instance, Gu Shanhai effectively sent away the victims who were supposed to die tonight or tomorrow, causing complications in the determination; thus, the inheritance started recalculating, and Gu Shanhai was on the move.
Unknowingly, it was already noon. Although the chaos outside had calmed down, the incident hadn’t ended, with many people digging through the inn, trying to rescue the people trapped underneath.
By this time, Gu Shanhai had finished making all the black gunpowder.
There were hundreds of tubes, clearly too many to fit in his pockets, but he wasn’t planning on hiding them anymore. They had already shown their true colors; there was no need to pretend subtlety.
"It’s indeed arrogant in broad daylight," Gu Shanhai commented.
He planned to act at night, but upon thinking it over, there wasn’t much difference between day and night. He just needed to act.
Then he grabbed the black gunpowder and headed towards the Yuzhu Pavilion.
"Hey, hey, the Yuzhu Pavilion is not open today," said the gatekeeper, stopping him as he approached.
"Oh? Why? What happened?" Gu Shanhai feigned confusion.
The gatekeeper didn’t hide it but sighed, "There was a death last night, so the Yuzhu Pavilion is closed today."
"That... Who would be so bold as to make a move in the Yuzhu Pavilion? That’s hateful," Gu Shanhai continued along those lines, then gave a bow, "Since that’s the case, I won’t enter."
After saying that, Gu Shanhai left on his own. He wasn’t planning on just letting the Yuzhu Pavilion go; instead, he circled around and took out a burning version of the black gunpowder, reducing its explosive power but increasing its flammability.
The entire structure of the Yuzhu Pavilion was wooden, and to match its name ’Yuzhu,’ there were many bamboo products, not necessarily highly flammable, but throwing a few more tubes would not only blast but ignite it.
He switched locations five times, throwing fifteen tubes in total. Whether or not it would ignite was no longer Gu Shanhai’s concern since he had reached his estimated quantity. Throwing more would mean running out later.
Minutes after he left, the Yuzhu Pavilion was engulfed in flames, and screams rose and fell, clearly having discovered the fire.
