Chapter 125: Chapter 90: The Boy Named Ava Wants to Change His Dream_2
"Really, there are people so careless as to assassinate players, and by the looks of it, it’s very likely the victims are affiliated with some clubs or gaming studios, otherwise, why would they be annihilated?"
Lone players or ordinary gamers at this stage do not have the strength to wipe out a noble family.
Noble families have knights, knight squires, and hired knights under their command; they can’t be easily broken through, of course, that doesn’t exclude the possibility of a godly player making a move.
"So we can only let it be for now?" Gu Shanhai asked.
"Not really, the nobles have recognized the players’ valor. Many have taken them in as personal soldiers and provided some knight training to appease them," Ekter said bluntly. There was no point in hiding it; everyone was doing it, even amongst his own ranks there were player-private soldiers.
Gu Shanhai knew this kind of knight training would give players some career clues. Once the clues reached 100%, they would gain a profession and then all that was left was to complete the job change task.
The nobles had stumbled upon it by chance, and it was precisely because of this that the player’s unrest had diminished significantly.
However, not all players were so compliant and willing to piece together fragments.
"What about the priests? Have any players become priests?" Gu Shanhai asked again.
"Not yet, at least all priests need to come from noble families; players have tried and then given up," Ekter replied.
Gu Shanhai did know a bit about it. To take on the profession of a priest in this world of various kingdoms, one would need the noble profession as a prerequisite. Once the induction tasks were completed, the noble profession would transform into the priesthood.
But the difficulty lay in the fact that the noble profession was even harder to achieve than a knight and subsequently, a priest.
The current kingdoms would not allow any player to become a noble, no matter what was attempted; it was bound to fail.
"What about the Druids, have any players tried to become your apprentices?" Ekter asked in return.
"I’m not too clear on that, maybe Elder Mafasi knows something," Gu Shanhai replied. He had no clue about such matters and hadn’t inquired.
However, in terms of the difficulty in obtaining professions, Druids and Wizards were relatively simpler—the former through tests and the latter merely requiring Magic Power.
It’s just that their social status wasn’t as esteemed as knights or priests—one being seen as outdated, the other as sewer rats.
Hearing Gu Shanhai’s response, Ekter too was a bit disappointed, but then he realized that Gu Shanhai had only just recently become a Druid from an apprentice, so what could he know.
"That’s too bad. I’ve had my servant prepare a room for Mr. Shanhai, but I’m not sure if you’ll be comfortable there." Ekter knew that Druids were a peculiar bunch, preferring to live in the wilderness, and their temperaments were unlikely to be the same as his.
"I’m deeply grateful. As a Druid, it doesn’t matter where I stay; I’ve never been one to indulge in luxury," Gu Shanhai said earnestly.
Throughout these days, he had hardly indulged himself at all, usually just finding anywhere to make do. For him, such desires were so insignificant they were almost nonexistent.
...
"Ava, did your elder brother also participate in the Battle of Honor?" Gu Shanhai asked the youth.
"Of course he did, but I think Kay brother is unlikely to win. Everyone outside is saying that the victor will be Snow Donia, who is a duke of the kingdom," Ava seemed somewhat disheartened.
...
Gu Shanhai’s mind raced but couldn’t recall any related information from his past life, which meant it wasn’t a significant issue.
Nonetheless, he was acquainted with this Snow Donia, truly a rising great noble.
Although the world was somewhat reminiscent of "The Death of King Arthur," there were indeed profound differences; it seemed that only half of it was copied, not in its entirety.
And this Snow Donia was certainly doomed, his family destroyed alongside him.
After the crowning of Atilis Sitra, otherwise known as Ava, he uncovered numerous atrocities, such as land grabbing and slave raids, committed by many, and acted to purge them. Whether true or fabricated, Gu Shanhai wasn’t certain as he hadn’t lived through it. However, historians and conspiracy theorists on forums had analyzed this as a tactic to eliminate dissidents.
Firstly, the storm didn’t implicate common folk, since neither land nor slaves related to the common man.
Even if the Red Dragon King was still youthful, with the help of Merlin, he demonstrated extremely potent political acumen and an iron-willed character.
But Gu Shanhai was puzzled, Ava did not seem like the future Red Dragon King Atilis Sitra, instead, he was a warm and upright lad. While he didn’t rule out that the other party might be pretending, that possibility seemed slim.
With his current experiences, how could he possess the acting skills to deceive Gu Shanhai? Even He Lingyun, who was once a novice God of Mankind, couldn’t fool him.
"Not necessarily, the Battle of Honor measures the valor of knights, not their titles. If the outcome was decided by title, why bother holding the battle at all? They could simply declare Snow Donia the victor," Gu Shanhai reassured.
This lifted Ava’s spirits as he realized the truth in those words.
"Mr. Shanhai, you truly are the wise Oak Sage as the rumors say—how did I not think of that?" Ava said joyfully, "When it comes to valor, no one is a match for my brother Kay!"
