I Can Transform Into Any Monster -
Chapter 79: Meet
Chapter 79: Meet
Whoosh!
Luis flew after them, and he wasn’t merely cloaked in wind. He was shrouded in a storm that seemed to rage and tear apart the clouds in his path.
His figure was no longer visible—only the storm.
His power-up had been immense, allowing him to release vast amounts of elemental energy.
When he arrived above the turtles trying to flee, the storm surrounding him transformed into a storm of fire and lightning, thanks to the additional fire and lightning elements from him, giving it an even more ferocious appearance.
It looked as if it could easily devastate a massive city like Velos 33.
"Some A-Level Awakeners I’ve seen... their power doesn’t even compare," said one of the B-Level Awakeners below.
At that moment, Luis’s storm—mixed with fire and lightning—struck one of the turtles.
BANG!
The result: the turtle was instantly shredded, its shell torn apart, and its flesh roasted by the flames.
At the same time, one turtle tried to leap over a river, but the land at the riverbank rose into the shape of a gigantic hand.
BANG!
That earthen hand slammed the turtle down into the ground.
Its shell withstood the blow, as the earth wasn’t that hard—but when Luis, surrounded by his storm, struck it, the creature was instantly crushed.
In just a short time, two turtles were killed, and the other three started to scatter in different directions.
Unfortunately, turtles were extremely slow movers.
Even though they fled in different directions, Luis could still chase them down one by one, killing them until nothing remained but their Monster Cores, which he collected.
(Battle Points: 12,777,329 / 100,000,000)
Luis’s Battle Points surged from killing five Level-7 Monsters.
It increased by 2.7 million at once, yet that was still minuscule compared to the total he needed to accumulate.
Now he understood why so many Awakeners could reach Level B but never reach Level A.
Even killing a single Level-7 Monster wasn’t easy for most B-Level Awakeners—so how many times would they have to do it to reach 100 million Battle Points?
Moreover, finding Level-7 Monsters was no easy task.
Luis landed at the riverside, not far from where he had previously fought Bluestone.
The scenery looked drastically different due to the turtles’ invasion.
Their arrival had caused considerable destruction.
Luis had no interest in lingering. He returned to the real world from that area.
Whoosh!
He turned into a bird and flew back toward the city.
He was heading downtown, planning to visit Alice at the hospital.
Though the city had many hospitals, only two were equipped to handle Awakeners.
One was owned by the imperial citizens, while the other was run by a local business group.
Luis was quite sure Alice would be in the local hospital—there was no way she would risk going to the imperial one.
That hospital was enormous, standing on vast land surrounded by towering trees that refreshed the air.
Luis entered the hospital courtyard and checked his phone.
It had been a while since Alice had gone to the hospital. Luis wanted to see if she had read his message.
According to Madam Sofia, her phone battery had died. She should’ve charged it, but maybe she kept it off intentionally while resting to avoid interruptions.
When Luis opened the messaging app, he felt disappointed again—the message hadn’t even been delivered. It made him want to cancel sending it, feeling mentally off or maybe even scared of Alice’s response.
Unexpectedly, just as he stared at the message, the single check mark turned into two—and then blue.
It wasn’t just delivered—it was read instantly.
Though that was what he had been waiting for, Luis broke into a cold sweat.
He was terrified of Alice’s reply.
What if she said she already had a boyfriend?
Even though that was ridiculous—Alice clearly didn’t have one—Luis still imagined that worst-case scenario out of fear.
Feeling uneasy, Luis then received a phone call from Alice.
She didn’t reply by text—instead, she called him right away. Luis felt disoriented, wondering what she would say.
But perhaps that suited Alice’s personality.
Despite the confusion in his heart and the storm in his mind, Luis answered her call.
"Luis!" Alice’s voice rang out.
It was her usual tone, which often sounded flat.
"Alice, is something wrong?" Luis asked spontaneously, as if caught off guard by her call and forgetting the message he had sent.
It wasn’t a conscious choice—Alice’s tone was just so neutral that he couldn’t tell if she was going to reject or accept him.
"This message of yours... are you asking me to be your girlfriend?" Alice asked, directly bringing up the message.
She didn’t try to make small talk or change the subject—she addressed it head-on.
What could he even say in response?
Say yes? Wouldn’t that be too blunt?
Or pretend to be confused and say he had been drunk and didn’t remember sending it?
Unfortunately, as he hesitated and failed to answer, Alice must have realized he was stalling or trying to dodge the question.
"How about we meet?" Alice asked while he remained silent.
"Meet... where?" Luis asked, not expecting her to want to see him.
"At school. I’m going to school."
"Miss Alice, where do you want to go? You’re supposed to be resting."
"I’m fine now. No injuries. Whether I rest or move around doesn’t make a difference."
"Wait for me at school if you’re already there!"
"...."
Luis instinctively transformed into a bird as soon as Alice ended the call.
He flew quickly away from the hospital.
Where else would he go if not school?
He even saw that Thomas and the others had returned, including Mr. Joe.
Luis overheard Thomas and the others talking about the shockwave that had spread throughout the city—even those far from the center had been pushed by it.
Still, they didn’t seem to know it came from him.
After all, they hadn’t been at the scene—and even those who were had difficulty understanding what had happened. Only the B-Level Awakeners saw it clearly.
Mr. Joe was a man who rarely spoke outside of teaching, so of course he said nothing to Thomas.
They all just went to the school cafeteria.
The only empty room in the school now was the extracurricular room.
Luis went there in the form of a small bird, then turned back into a human in front of the room.
He entered and shut the door—though he didn’t lock it.
There was a fridge inside, so he took a red-bottled soda and sat on the couch.
Now, he waited for Alice—curious why she wanted to meet him after that phone call.
About ten minutes later, a message from Alice appeared.
(Where are you?)
(Extracurricular room!) Luis replied.
After taking a few deep breaths, he started to calm down. The cold AC in the room dried his sweat. He no longer perspired, and the lingering scent of his cologne made him smell fresh.
It wasn’t long before he heard light footsteps outside the door. Clearly just one person.
Click!
The door opened, revealing Alice.
Her appearance was simpler now. She wore long jeans and a white shirt without a tie.
With graduation day approaching, and a school field trip scheduled for tomorrow, the students had started dressing more casually.
Of course, Alice’s black hair was still tied in a ponytail, and her bangs still fell straight down her forehead—perfectly suiting her sharp-chinned face.
Her gaze immediately fell on Luis, and her expression didn’t reveal any particular emotion. It was just like their usual encounters.
In the end, since she had always been hard to read, even in this situation Luis couldn’t guess what she was thinking.
’Maybe this isn’t the right way,’ Luis thought.
Even if this was Madam Sofia’s suggestion, she wasn’t Alice. How could she truly understand her?
Luis felt that rather than doing it this way, it would’ve been better to create a romantic moment with Alice and hold her hand.
That way, her answer would’ve been more apparent and easier to grasp.
Alice entered the extracurricular room, closed the door (but didn’t lock it), and walked toward Luis.
However, she made a stop at the fridge first, taking a soda with a blue bottle—different from Luis’s red one.
Alice opened it while still walking.
She then sat down in front of him and took a few sips.
After drinking several gulps, she set the bottle down on the table between them.
Then, her eyes locked with his.
"Did you forget the message you sent?" Alice asked him.
This question made Luis a little confused.
He didn’t forget, but he pretended to forget.
What would happen if he said he forgot? Of course, he couldn’t say that he was so drunk that he accidentally sent the message.
"No, maybe I was just afraid of your response."
After thinking it over, Luis finally decided to be honest, believing that honesty would always bring good things.
This is not just theory, but a fact of life. Only honesty will continue a person’s good fortune, while lies can be the end of everything.
