I Can See Your Combat Power
Chapter 1567 - Chapter 1567 Chapter 44 Attempts and Concessions

Chapter 1567: Chapter 44: Attempts and Concessions Chapter 1567: Chapter 44: Attempts and Concessions In life, the hardest part is not being a novice; everyone greets the world without experience. Looking back, every step is a mistake, and every year carries regrets.

The painful part is that most missteps are irreparable and, over time, become a thorn in one’s heart.

There are times, in a state of half-drunk or half-asleep daze, when one might weep inconsolably and fret deeply, but the past is ultimately still the past.

Perhaps because of the plethora of missteps, even a worthless person could confidently claim that if they could return to the past, they would certainly achieve something earth-shattering.

In fact, if returning to the past was solely to rectify mistakes, that would be one thing; but to forcefully pursue things never attempted before would only add more errors, even if one had the chance to live again.

Cultivation in martial arts follows the same principle. The 36 Pre-Heaven Diagrams were ancient methods devised by the sages imitating mythical creatures’ absorption of Heavenly and Earthly Qi. Initially, there were only Six Ape Stances: Ape Stance, Lurking Stance, Peach-Picking Stance, Offering Fruit Stance, Hiding Stance, and Snatching the Moon Stance. These exercises agile the body and were the foundation of humanity’s initial steps in cultivation.

By cultivating the agility derived from the Six Ape Stances, the Human Race was finally able to approach some inherently agile animals, subsequently developing the Six Deer Stances: Deer Stance, Thrusting Stance, Probing Stance, Kicking Stance, Looking Back Stance, and Horn Thrusting Stance.

Cultivating these six stances stretches the muscles and strengthens the body. They then mimicked the Crane Clan, developing the Crane Stance, Spreading Wings Stance, Standing Alone Stance, Falling Goose Stance, Flying Stance, and Fishing Stance, further enhancing the robustness of their meridians and internal organs.

The ancient Human Race gained their own strength from these eighteen animal-inspired stances, finding a sliver of vitality in an era dominated by demons and monstrous beasts.

Relying on this seemingly insignificant power, they challenged fierce creatures such as bears and tigers, thus developing Six Bear Stances and Six Tiger Stances respectively:

Bear Stance, Shaking Movement Stance, Leaning Support Stance, Pushing Stance, Bear Lifting Stance, Bear Swinging Stance;

and Tiger Stance, Emerging Stance, Showing Might Stance, Pouncing Stance, Fighting Stance, and Roaring in the Forest Stance!

Thirty diagrams represented by five animals, through cultivation, could strengthen the internal organs, enhance marrow, and make bones more agile, finally granting the Human Race a slight, extraordinary power.

It could be said that all physical cultivation methods of ancient times stemmed from these thirty animal-inspired stances.

However, compared to the earth-shattering power of demons or the mountain-splitting force of wild beasts, the power granted by the 36 diagrams to humanity was almost inconsequential.

The wise and saintly humans of the race asserted that mythical creatures possessed another, more powerful force; thus, through observation and imitation, they developed the final six diagrams – the Human Meditation and Reflection Maps, which when combined with the previous thirty animal stances, allowed humanity to control the Spiritual Energy between heaven and earth for the first time.

It can be stated that all of humanity’s cultivation history began with these 36 Innate Dao Maps.

Later there weren’t a lack of innovations, like Tang Luo mentioned, the Innate Dao Maps of the major Sacred Land Sects are slightly different from those of prominent families.

For example, Han Family’s Foundation Building Innate Dao Maps contain sixty diagrams: nine Tiger Stances, nine Deer Stances, nine Bear Stances, fifteen Ape Stances, nine Crane Forms, and nine Meditation Stances.

Martial Saint Mountain’s Bu Family Dao Maps are fifty-four diagrams: nine each of Tiger Stance, Deer Stance, Bear Stance, Ape Stance, Crane Form, and Meditation Stance.

Yuanzhou’s Xu Clan’s Innate Dao Maps include not only hand-to-hand stances but also sword diagrams, totaling fifty diagrams: eight Tiger Stances, eight Deer Stances, eight Bear Stances, ten Ape Stances, ten Crane Forms, and six Meditation Stances.

Some other Sacred Land Sects in Xiehe mostly have Foundation Building methods that exceed the thirtysix diagrams.

Even some deeply-rooted noble families have three or two extra diagrams in certain animal stances of their Innate Dao Maps.

The purpose is simple: to provide a more solid foundation for their family’s methods, at the cost of increased difficulty and time required for Foundation Building.

This is why disciples from Sacred Land Sects cannot simply switch to another sect; from the start, the Foundation Building method decided that Yuanzhou’s warriors only have the path of the sword.

And for others, even if they learned such rigorous Foundation Building methods, without specific and specialized guidance, it would be futile.

Yet, these complex Foundation Building methods don’t significantly enhance the combat power of the disciples from the Sacred Lands; if it does add anything, it’s merely that having more poses might enhance their vitality and agility slightly.

But such an advantage primarily arises from the cultivators’ inherent quality, as well as Spiritual Food and medicinal baths.

The effects of the Innate Dao Map are honestly quite limited; put simply, a warrior trained in six Ape Stances may only be 10-20%[^1] less agile than one trained in fifteen Ape Stances, but the sacrifice for the latter is two to three times greater.

Such a difference can be compensated in the Mortal Realm by practicing a single technique; except for some extremely talented and perfection-seeking warriors, few would deliberately force themselves to cultivate more challenging Dao Maps for Foundation Building.

The 36 Diagrams Dao Map might not be the most perfect, but currently, it is the most cost-effective and most suitable.

What Tang Luo is now attempting is a challenge to the wisdom of the Human Race’s sages. Frankly, it’s exciting but also somewhat frightening.

However, after much thought, it seems there might be no one more suitable than him in Xiehe.

There are indeed many grandmasters and kings with deeper martial arts cultivation than him, but none have his unique conditions.
