Chapter 13 - "Wife, Sneak the Household Register Out When You Get Home!"
Chapter 13 – “Wife, Sneak the Household Register Out When You Get Home!”
This was something Ye Fei would have done even without Zheng Wanqing saying it.
Actually, it wasn’t just because the system had just issued a main quest.
It was also due to concerns about the impact.
College students getting pregnant wasn’t really a shameful thing.
Some universities even encouraged students to get married during their studies.
After all, with declining birth rates in recent years, local governments have introduced related policies to counter the trend.
Although Qingteng University didn’t advocate for it, they didn’t oppose it either.
However, Zheng Wanqing was the type who cared deeply about face.
If others started gossiping behind her back, it would definitely affect her mood.
Ye Fei nodded and said, “Alright, whatever you say.”
As he spoke, Ye Fei gently took hold of Zheng Wanqing’s delicate hand and touched her belly.
Because it was still early in the pregnancy, her figure looked no different from usual.
Still, Ye Fei said, “Starting today, I will put you and our little baby first.”
“From now on, I promise I won’t bully you like I used to.”
“I hereby declare the girlfriend rulebook we signed before—abolished.”
Zheng Wanqing blinked in surprise. “Really?”
She had heard that when men learned they were going to be fathers, they would become especially gentle toward their wives.
She hadn’t expected it to be true!
Seeing this scene, the gynecologist and several of the nurses nearby couldn’t help but exclaim:
“Wow, girl, your husband really dotes on you!”
“Sigh, I wish my boyfriend treated me as well as your husband treats you.”
“Girl, your boyfriend is spoiling you so much. His eyes are full of tenderness.”
“Being his wife must be so blissful, right?”
“Ah, I’m so jealous. I’m still single. Sweet love like this hasn’t come my way yet.”
“……”
The envious looks and comments from those around her left Zheng Wanqing dazed.
She still hadn’t fully processed that she was pregnant.
Aside from her quickened heartbeat and nervousness, she didn’t feel much else.
Before leaving the hospital, the female doctor gave a reminder: “Mr. Ye, since your wife is pregnant now, besides congratulations, there are a few things I must remind you of.”
“Yes, doctor. Please go ahead,” said Ye Fei.
The doctor advised, “As new parents, there’s a lot you might not yet understand.”
“Let me keep it brief. First, for pregnant women, spicy foods and catching colds are major no-nos.”
“Even though your wife is newly pregnant, and there’s not much risk yet, it’s still better to be cautious.”
The doctor spoke at length about various precautions Ye Fei should take.
The moment they stepped out of the hospital— Zheng Wanqing lowered her head.
She was usually so lively in front of Ye Fei, yet now she fell completely silent.
She didn’t know what to say.
Ye Fei said, “Wanqing, head home for a bit later and sneak something out from your place.”
“Huh??”
Zheng Wanqing was confused. Steal something?!!
Steal what?!
Ye Fei rubbed her head and said, “Silly girl, you’re pregnant now. What do you think I want you to steal?”
Zheng Wanqing understood.
Ye Fei must mean taking the hukou ben (household register) from her parents’ home when they’re not paying attention.
To get married!
To register their marriage!
These two words flashed through Zheng Wanqing’s mind.
Oh my god.
I can’t believe this.
I haven’t even graduated from college, and now I’m getting married so suddenly?
And it’s going to be a secret wedding, hidden from everyone!
That’s kind of thrilling.
Most importantly, within the next ten months, a new life would arrive.
Zheng Wanqing nodded. “Okay! I’ll go home and sneak out the household register!”
“Now that I’m pregnant, I’ll listen to you from now on, husband.”
“I won’t be immature or act spoiled like before.”
Ye Fei smiled and said, “Alright, let’s catch a taxi in a bit and go near your home.”
“Once you get the register, I’ll take you to the civil affairs bureau to register our marriage.”
Zheng Wanqing nodded. “Mhm! Hubby, you’re the best.”
“Back at the hospital, when I saw the report and learned I was pregnant…”
“Honestly… I thought you might ask me to get an abortion.”
Ye Fei replied, “Abortion? No way. Zheng Wanqing, I’m warning you—your body doesn’t just belong to you now. It also belongs to me.”
“So you must take care of yourself—and our little baby.”
Zheng Wanqing said, “Don’t worry, hubby. I’ll take care of myself!”
Soon after, they got out of the car near Zheng Wanqing’s family villa.
As she opened the car door, Zheng Wanqing told Ye Fei, “Hubby, wait for me here.”
“Be careful. Before sneaking in, check if anyone’s home. Don’t get caught,” Ye Fei said.
“Don’t worry, hubby. My parents and big sis are definitely at work this time of day.”
“Other than the housemaid, there shouldn’t be anyone home.”
“Don’t worry, I’ll be careful.”
