I Became The Vampire Progenitor
Chapter 94: The Differences in Teleportation Spells

When dawn broke, Li De concluded this session of magical exchange.

Emi had finally learned about the existence of Mana-Infused Blood, realizing that it wasn’t just Li De’s overwhelming strength but also the blood that played a role.

This realization eased his frustration after being crushed by a Level 10 mage.

With the improved Small Fireball and the Mana-Infused Blood, vampires were indeed formidable and terrifying.

Fortunately, he was now one of them. At this thought, Emi’s lips curled into a smile; becoming a vampire truly felt like being blessed by the Goddess of Luck.

Li De paid no attention to the varied expressions of the second-generation bloodline descendants and continued to ponder while seated.

Today's matters were settled.

The urban construction was handed over to Harrison, the mage tower was under Emi’s responsibility, and the school remained on hold for now.

Without teachers, building a school wouldn’t be useful. On the other hand, mages were scarce outside but plentiful within Dawn City, so the mage tower could take priority.

During the magical exchange, the second-generation bloodline descendants all learned the two spells he had improved.

Especially the Small Fireball, a spell with ultra-fast projectile speed and rapid casting, which amazed everyone.

At the same time, Li De ordered all vampires to catalog the spells they knew and submit copies.

He wanted to tally how many spells the vampires currently possessed.

The future mage tower would need a collection of spells to serve as its foundation.

If they were humans, Li De wouldn’t have issued such an order. Humans’ nature to keep secrets meant they wouldn’t reveal their trump cards.

But vampires were different. He was their undisputed master, and any command he gave would be followed without question.

Among them, Emi, the former blasphemer and Level 15 Shadow High Priest, was undoubtedly Li De’s most valued asset because the spells he knew were of a different type than those of the vampires.

Mostly shadow-based spells.

The spells known by the vampires were accumulated over two hundred years, mostly spells used by human mages.

Primarily Tier 1 and Tier 2 spells, with higher-tier and more powerful magic being rare for vampires to access.

Otherwise, the Vampire Progenitor wouldn’t have infiltrated Green City to systematically study spells. Unfortunately, due to the Vampire Progenitor’s poor social skills, he didn’t learn much useful magic during his years of hiding and instead earned a reputation for being reclusive and having a strange temper.

Two of the spells Emi knew particularly intrigued Li De.

The first was a Tier 2 spell: Shadow Step.

Shadow Step: Briefly traverse through the Shadow Plane, teleporting within 50 blades, consuming 70 mana points.

This Tier 2 spell was similar to Teleport, which was a Tier 3 spell.

Teleport: Instantly move to a location within sight, with mana consumption dependent on distance.

The difference between the two spells was that Teleport consumed mana based on distance, whereas Shadow Step consumed a fixed amount of mana.

One advantage Shadow Step had over Teleport was that its magic model could store mana and activate upon use, resulting in a very short casting time.

Moreover, once the Shadow Step magic model was fully charged, it didn’t interfere with casting other spells.

It was quite remarkable.

After fully charging the magic model, it only required 1 mana point per Sun-hour to maintain.

A spell even Li De found incredible.

When Li De and Emi first met, Emi had used this magic to escape instantly.

Of course, it wasn’t without flaws. The high mana cost of 70 points—higher than most Tier 3 spells—and the minute-long activation time for the magic model made it nearly impossible to use twice in battle. It could only be prepared before combat.

However, these drawbacks couldn’t overshadow the immense advantage of Shadow Step’s ability to store mana in advance and activate instantly when threatened.

It was essentially a powerful escape skill.

Li De didn’t have many teleportation-type skills at the moment. He knew three Tier 3 spells:

Teleport, Void Walk, and Explosive Fireball.

Teleport and Void Walk were defensive and escape types, while Explosive Fireball was an offensive spell.

The reason he only knew three Tier 3 spells was simple.

Tier 1 and Tier 2 spells weren’t hard to find, but spells above Tier 3 became extremely rare. Over the past two centuries, the vampires had acquired fewer than five Tier 3 spells, two of which were auxiliary spells.

Thus, as the Vampire Progenitor, his panel displayed only three lonely Tier 3 spells.

Shaking his head, Li De refocused on these spells.

Teleport could be cast during combat and was arguably the most frequently used and powerful skill in high-level mage battles.

However, one flaw of Teleport was its casting time of nearly 5 seconds, and its mana consumption increased with distance.

Teleporting over 100 blades required at least 100 mana points.

Its advantage was that it could be used repeatedly and had the shortest casting time among Tier 3 spells.

Li De noticed that all teleportation-type spells seemed to share a trait: either they could be pre-charged or had extremely short casting times—at least compared to spells of the same level.

Another characteristic was that their mana consumption was the highest among similar spells.

After a moment of contemplation, Li De concluded that teleportation spells differed from attack spells. Attack spells could trade time for greater power.

However, teleportation spells were different. These spells were created primarily for escape, and almost all magic nodes were designed to accelerate casting and ensure the caster’s safety, fundamentally different from attack spells.

The other Tier 3 spell—Void Walk—Li De hadn’t cast yet.

However, the Vampire Progenitor’s memories recorded that Void Walk involved the body traversing into another dimension. To leave the original spot, one had to walk manually, unlike Teleport, which moved instantly, hence the name Void Walk.

These three teleportation-type spells each had their strengths. Shadow Step was undoubtedly the best reaction skill for emergencies, Teleport was a skill that could be continuously used in battle, and Void Walk was a dual-purpose skill for both escape and offense.

Aside from Shadow Step, Emi had another skill that made Li De envious, but this skill required transitioning into a Shadow Priest to use, so he had to give up.

Tier 3 Spell—Shadow Traverse: Long-distance teleportation via the Shadow Plane, consuming 150 mana points, random 20 kilometers, restricted to Shadow Priests.

[T/N: Seems like the author made a mistake in that previous chapter or changed his mind, as this skill was previously also called shadow step.]

It was undeniable that many of Emi’s skills tempted Li De, but unfortunately, most were exclusive to Shadow Priests, leaving him to shrug.

However, upon reflection, he became interested in Emi’s Shadow Priest class.

Undoubtedly, it was a hidden class, and Emi had already reached Level 14 before becoming a vampire, indicating the class’s strength.

More astonishingly, Emi escaped the pursuit of the Temple of the Knight God using various Shadow Priest skills. The bishops of the Knight God’s temple were Level 15 entities, making this feat almost unbelievable.

“Emi, what kind of class is Shadow Priest? What skills do you gain after transitioning? Can you help others transition into Shadow Priests now?”

Li De pulled up the system notification from his attribute panel when Emi successfully converted into a vampire.

"Ding~ Emi Kachar successfully advanced to Level 15, gaining the ability to help humans and vampires transition into Shadow Priests."

This was another reason Li De valued Emi so highly. He wasn’t just a high-level combatant but also a mentor for transitioning into a hidden class.

Pride flickered across Emi’s face.

“No, Lord Progenitor. Transitioning into a Shadow Priest requires extremely harsh conditions, one of which is that the person must originally be a temple priest.”

“And after transitioning into a Shadow Priest, one must abandon their faith and betray their original deity.

In return, all skills will transform into shadow-based skills, and an additional 30% shadow energy corrosion damage will be granted.”

“As long as the conditions are suitable, I can help anyone transition. Shadow Priest is a powerful class with unimaginable strength. Given the right opportunity, I might be able to provide you with a formidable army of casters.”

Li De’s heart skipped a beat.

“How so?”
