I Became The Vampire Progenitor -
Chapter 158-2: What You’re Aiming For (Part 2)
Following the wide avenue that could accommodate seven carriages running abreast, Li De strolled leisurely toward the Dawn Church.
By now, the Dawn Church had changed completely from when it was first established.
In front of the massive church stood a towering stone statue, its hands clasped behind its back. Standing at an imposing twelve blades tall, it was the grandest structure in Dawn City.
Ordinary people appeared dwarfed before the statue, and even the Cyclops had to crane their necks to look up.
The statue was lifelike, its expression filled with benevolence, resembling a noble deity gazing lovingly upon the world.
Yet the aura it exuded stirred an inexplicable sense of inspiration in onlookers, as if following it would bring salvation and everything they desired.
Li De tilted his head slightly upward. A closer look confirmed what he already guessed—the face carved into the statue bore his own likeness.
His lips twitched involuntarily. It was hard to describe the strange feeling of seeing his own statue erected at the entrance of such a crowded building for the residents to revere.
Clearing his throat lightly, he shifted his gaze away, looking instead at the surroundings of the church.
Outside the church, a wall made of long bluestone slabs rose five blades high. Several figures in priest robes were perched on wooden ladders, carving something into the stones.
These massive stones had been quarried by the Cyclops who remained in Dawn City, from nearby mountains. Only those with ancient giant blood possessed such immense strength.
Believers coming to pray at the church immediately noticed Li De standing there, their faces instantly lighting up with excitement.
"My Lord above, we, the children of dawn, praise your glory."
"My God, your radiance guides our path forward."
"Lord Kachar, your visage shines like the sun, radiant and brilliant."
Li De nodded slightly in response to the fervent crowd, while an odd emotion stirred within him.
For a soul educated in modern times, encountering his own followers was indeed peculiar.
But he was always a pragmatist. He wouldn’t abandon missionary work just because of a small discomfort. What he sought wasn’t the believers themselves but the faith energy they generated.
Faith energy, which even gods competed fiercely over, held great utility—it couldn’t be abandoned.
Moreover, aside from his doctrine, the teachings of the Dawn Order were all about guiding people toward goodness and self-improvement.
Encouraging hard work, love for family, pride in Dawn City, humility, bravery, resilience, lawfulness, and more.
The entire order was exceedingly positive and uplifting—nothing like the cults of evil gods in Glory who slaughtered indiscriminately.
And in this world, having faith wasn’t necessarily a bad thing. After all, this was a world where gods truly existed, and faith could tangibly benefit believers.
Many commoners initially turned to gods seeking these benefits, not blindly losing themselves in devotion.
All things considered, the pros outweighed the cons.
Amidst the worshipful gazes of the bustling crowd, Li De entered the Dawn Church with elegant strides.
After several months of construction, the once-abandoned manor-turned-cathedral had become the most exquisite building in Dawn City.
Religious imagery celebrating the Vampires and Li De’s achievements adorned the walls: from the founding of Dawn City to the arrival of the first humans, the city's development, the subjugation of the Cyclops, the establishment of the Mage Tower, and more.
Every one of Li De’s accomplishments was meticulously recorded on the walls.
Each bas-relief emanated an awe-inspiring majesty.
Even Li De himself felt a little embarrassed. "I never expected to accidentally become a savior god. How shameful," he thought.
"I’m sorry, my political science teacher. I used to be a staunch believer in Marxism, but alas, the enemy was too cunning, and I inadvertently became their leader."
Upon hearing of Li De’s arrival, Emi hurried out to greet him.
Emi had been officially appointed by Li De as the bishop of the Dawn Order, responsible for managing and spreading the faith in his absence.
Of course, Li De currently had neither the interest nor the time to personally manage this burgeoning order.
Professional matters should be left to professionals.
"Good day, Your Majesty the Progenitor."
"Good day, Emi. Have you found any devout believers suitable for transitioning into spellcasters, as I instructed?"
At this, Emi nodded. Two months ago, Li De had specifically tasked him with this, and Emi naturally hadn’t forgotten.
"Lord Progenitor, I’ve selected ten of the most suitable candidates from thousands of believers—those with both the potential to become priests and innate magical aptitude. Shall I summon them?"
"Of course. I can now transition three commoners into Dawn Priests, granting them the abilities of spellcasters."
Emi stared at Li De in disbelief.
"Could it be that you’ve already accumulated enough faith energy and can now channel it?"
Li De hadn’t explained this in detail to Emi, so he had no idea that the attribute panel for faith energy had long been activated.
"Of course. I already hold the key. Go fetch them."
Li De smiled faintly.
Among the Vampires, Emi was undoubtedly one of the most knowledgeable and capable second-generation bloodline descendants.
That was why Li De entrusted him with managing the Dawn Order and the Mage Tower—two departments destined to grow immensely in the future.
"As you wish, my lord. They have already been summoned. Follow me."
Li De nodded and followed Emi into the back hall, then ascended to the second floor of the church.
"Lord Progenitor, this office was specially prepared for you, though you’ve never visited."
Emi pushed open the largest, most centrally located room.
Li De stepped inside. The interior was meticulously decorated, exuding a strong religious ambiance.
Small statues depicting the Vampires’s salvation, colorful bas-reliefs adorning the walls, and prayer items neatly arranged on oak shelves around the room—all imbued the space with a unique religious atmosphere.
The overwhelming scent of religion made Li De slightly uncomfortable, but he said nothing.
Emi, a priest who had spent decades in the Temple of Knights, naturally knew more about churches than he did. Besides, Li De wouldn’t frequent this place often, so he let Emi arrange it as he pleased.
After a brief chat, footsteps echoed outside.
"Lord Kachar, Bishop, the candidates have arrived."
Li De, seated behind a white desk, nodded at the report from the doorway.
"Let them in."
"As you wish, my lord."
Emi stood beside Li De, both of them watching the door intently.
Tap tap... tap tap...
Footsteps approached.
One, two, three... ten graceful figures entered the room.
The fragrant scents of orchids, lavender, and other indescribable perfumes unique to women wafted through the air.
To Li De’s surprise, not a single man was among the ten. All were young, beautiful girls, none appearing older than twenty.
Dressed in long, pristine priest robes, their curvaceous figures strained against the fabric. Each girl was tall and elegant, seemingly trained in noble etiquette. Even standing still, they exuded grace.
Li De was certain that if these girls were placed on Earth, each could score above 90 points, with admirers numbering at least a battalion.
He glanced at Emi. Where had this rascal found so many stunning beauties?
"Good day, Lord Kachar."
The ten exquisite maidens curtsied in unison, their voices sweet as springtime birdsong.
Flowers swayed gently.
Even Li De, with his steady heart, couldn’t help but take a deep breath at the sight.
He turned to Emi, his eyes full of questions. "Emi, why are all the candidates for priesthood in the Dawn Church such beautiful girls?"
A knowing smile crept across Emi’s face as he leaned down and whispered meaningfully into Li De’s ear.
"Lord Progenitor, they are your most loyal subjects, willing to give you everything..."
"Including themselves."
