I Became The Vampire Progenitor -
Chapter 99: Grand Mage Spark
About half a Sun-hour's journey from the Crimson Mage Tower, in the Northern District of Green City, stood a mage tower that was fifty-seven blades tall.
From the top of the tower, one could overlook half of Green City.
This was the White Tower, personally constructed by Grand Mage Spark Ross—one of the three great mage towers of Green City.
The White Tower earned its name from its pure white exterior. The white alchemical material coating the tower was extracted from a magical beast known as the Mountain Ogre, and it possessed powerful mana-absorbing properties.
Inside the White Tower, the activity level of mana was at least three times higher than outside. In contrast, the mana activity inside the Crimson Mage Tower was only double that of the outside.
As one of the three great mage towers of Green City, the history of the White Tower dated back fifty years.
At that time, its owner, Spark Ross, was not yet a grand mage but a young man who had just broken through to become a Level 10 advanced mage.
The White Tower, built with the help of the Green City Mage Guild, was initially only about twenty blades tall.
Over time, the young mage became a renowned grand mage, and the White Tower grew from twenty blades to its current height of over fifty, protecting more than two hundred thousand residents in the surrounding area.
As Li De stood at the gates of the White Tower, gazing up at this architectural marvel that could be called a divine miracle, he couldn’t help but feel genuine admiration.
The circular body of the White Tower rose like a mountain, its grandeur far surpassing that of the Crimson Mage Tower. Its footprint was at least five times larger than the Crimson Mage Tower’s.
Compared to the White Tower, the relatively impressive Crimson Mage Tower looked like a dwarf next to a giant.
Not worth mentioning.
At the entrance of the White Tower, two formal mages dressed in white robes stood proudly on either side of the pure white door made of white maple wood.
As the domain of a grand mage, the White Tower always had high-ranking mage lords standing guard, appearing lofty in the eyes of outsiders.
Upon seeing Li De, the pride on the faces of the two mages instantly vanished, replaced by expressions of respect.
The crescent emblem on Li De’s robe, signifying an advanced mage, made them suppress all thoughts of arrogance. One must show proper respect to those stronger than oneself.
"Esteemed mage, this is the White Tower. May I ask what brings you here?"
Although Li De was Spark’s disciple, he had never visited the White Tower before, so naturally, the mages there did not recognize him.
"Please inform my teacher that Li De has come to pay his respects," Li De said calmly.
The two mages exchanged glances, both surprised.
"You are Lord Li De, the master of the Crimson Mage Tower?"
"Mm."
"Lord Li De, as Lord Spark’s disciple, there is no need for you to announce your arrival."
Upon confirming Li De’s identity, their respect deepened even further.
Though Li De had never visited the White Tower, the mages here were quite familiar with his name.
Three years ago, Spark had publicly accepted him as a disciple in front of hundreds of mages at the Green City Mage Guild. Moreover, Li De held the title of genius mage and was the youngest advanced mage in Green City.
His legendary achievements were envied by many, and how could the mages of the White Tower forget such a figure?
"Thank you."
Li De nodded and followed the two mages into the White Tower, carrying the beautifully wrapped bottles of elven fine wine.
Laurent, who had accompanied him, waited obediently by the roadside outside the White Tower. A merchant like him had no qualifications to interact with a mage lord of Spark’s stature.
After preparing the carriage in the afternoon, Li De had instructed Isha to stay with Vina while he changed clothes and came alone to visit Spark. Though Isha was reluctant, she obediently stayed home.
Li De was quite curious about this powerful yet nominal teacher of his.
Grand Mage—a title earned through one’s own strength in a city as large as Green City, with a population in the millions.
Spark was not like Emi, who only reached Level 15 after becoming a vampire. Emi might have the rank of Level 15, but his overall foundation still fell short of those truly deserving that rank.
Mages were different from warriors. When warriors reached Level 15, their physical attributes would improve dramatically, and their combat power would explode immediately.
However, when mages reached Level 15, what improved was their mental strength and control over mana. They still needed a great deal of time to master Tier 4 spells.
Only after fully mastering Tier 4 spells could a Level 15 mage truly be called a grand mage, and a shadow priest like Emi could be considered a high priest.
Only then could a mage unleash their earth-shattering power.
Perhaps due to Spark’s preferences, the White Tower lived up to its name. Not only was the exterior white, but everything inside the tower was also white.
The walls were coated with white alchemical materials, the floors were made of white maple wood, and even the furniture was painted with white alchemical materials.
It was like stepping into a pure white world.
Li De’s deep blue mage robe, with its cool tones, stood out as a splash of vibrant color within the White Tower.
"Lord Li De, Teacher Spark often spoke of you before. He said your understanding of magic was the most astonishing he had ever seen in a young person.
Goddess of Magic above, we have never heard Teacher Spark praise a mage so highly."
The two young mages, who had recently become formal mages, were excited to see Li De. They talked nonstop, deeply curious about this legendary figure with the title of genius mage.
Li De maintained a faint smile, responding politely while pondering everything he knew about his teacher.
But ultimately, his knowledge was too limited. The memories of the Vampire Progenitor only provided a superficial impression of Spark, leaving him without much confidence.
With a sigh, he shook his head and gave up.
"Ho ho, who’s this brat? Three years, and I thought you’d stay cooped up in that cursed mage tower forever!"
Just as they entered the tower, a gruff, elderly voice filled with anger echoed from ahead.
"Good day, Lord Spark."
"Good day, Lord Spark."
The two mages beside Li De bowed respectfully, hands on their chests.
Li De turned toward the source of the voice and saw a peculiar figure.
A black-robed mage, slightly plump, with messy gray hair, a face full of white stubble, and a red nose from drinking appeared before him.
Even from twenty blades away, Li De could smell the alcohol emanating from the man.
The memory in Li De’s mind overlapped with the figure before him, and he instantly recognized him. This disheveled old man was none other than the master of the White Tower—Grand Mage Spark Ross.
Spark’s appearance was worlds apart from the image Li De had imagined: a white-robed figure with elegant demeanor, outstanding charisma, and an aura of infinite mana fluctuations.
This appearance didn’t resemble a grand mage respected by millions—it wouldn’t be surprising if someone mistook him for a street beggar.
Spark was unaware of Li De’s thoughts. His cloudy eyes were now filled with anger, and the stench of alcohol in the air grew stronger as he opened his mouth.
"Why aren’t you saying anything?!!"
Seeing Li De, Spark’s anger flared. The meaning of being a disciple in Glory wasn’t just a simple teacher-student relationship—it represented lineage.
Three years ago, Spark had witnessed Li De breaking through to become an advanced mage at the Mage Guild. The intense mana fluctuations around Li De had sparked Spark’s admiration, and their subsequent conversation had impressed him with Li De’s profound knowledge.
Moved by this, Spark publicly accepted Li De as his disciple, intending to pass on all his magic to him.
Afterward, Spark had even gone to great lengths to facilitate the Green City Mage Guild’s assistance in building Li De’s mage tower.
Things had been fine at first, but after the completion of the Crimson Mage Tower, everything changed.
That damn brat had buried himself in the mage tower and never emerged again.
In the more than two years since, Spark hadn’t seen Li De a second time.
If not for reports that Li De had never interacted with other nobles in Green City, Spark would have thought the boy didn’t respect him as a teacher.
Now, seeing Li De in person, Spark’s resentment ran deep.
He had promised to teach Li De magic, but the boy had turned into a recluse.
