I Became the Billionaire's Fake Lover to Get My Revenge
Chapter 101: Another Little Victory

Chapter 101: Another Little Victory

"Alright, her car just pulled up," Anna murmured into her phone as she stood near the entrance of the coffee shop, where Violet was already seated, fully disguised as a shaman.

Contrary to what Daniel had envisioned—robes, feathers, and beads—Violet’s outfit was far more understated. While it certainly veered from her usual black-and-white work attire, it wasn’t outlandish. The only thing hinting at any spiritual inclination was the large green crystal pendant swinging gently from her neck.

Her appearance had been carefully altered—makeup, hair, the works. There was no way Anna would let Violet risk being recognized, not with what was about to unfold.

"I still can’t believe you talked me into this, Miss Dumas," Violet muttered, slipping her phone into the pocket of her flowing earth-toned dress. Her expression was a mix of annoyance and resignation.

Just then, Charlotte walked into the quiet café, herself dressed in an elaborate—if slightly comical—disguise: oversized sunglasses, a silk headscarf, and a simple but unmistakably expensive dress that gave her away instantly. Violet smirked inwardly, wondering if Anna had somehow inspired this covert trend.

"Valerie Crane?" Charlotte asked tentatively, hesitant to sit before receiving confirmation.

"Yes," Violet answered with a calm smile. "Please, have a seat."

"I was a bit surprised you’d want to meet in such a public place," Charlotte remarked cautiously, glancing around with visible unease. But the coffee shop was entirely empty at this hour—Anna had timed it perfectly.

"And I certainly didn’t expect you to be... well, a woman," Charlotte added in a hushed tone, as if even acknowledging Violet’s gender were somehow scandalous.

Violet shifted slightly in her seat, her posture poised but her jaw tightening just enough to betray her irritation. Still, she managed a practiced, polite smile. "When it comes to matters of the heart—especially those unique to women—only a female shaman can truly understand the depth of the pain they bring. As for the meeting spot... I find that public spaces tend to encourage honesty. They keep the energy clear and intentions pure."

"Aahh..." Charlotte exhaled slowly, nodding as though Violet had just shared a profound truth. Finally relaxing a little, she removed her sunglasses and set them aside on the table with careful grace.

Violet bit the inside of her cheek to suppress a smirk. Miss Dumas was right—she really was too easy to deceive. The entire café had been booked in advance, deliberately left empty to ensure they could get clean, incriminating photos of Charlotte meeting with her supposed shaman.

"Well then, let’s not waste any more time," Charlotte said, leaning in conspiratorially across the table, her voice lowered. "I have a very delicate issue that I need your help with. You see, there’s this man—"

"You don’t need to say a word," Violet interrupted smoothly, raising a hand with gentle authority and motioning for Charlotte to lean back. "Romantic troubles are by far the most common reason women seek me out. And I can already see it written all over your face—there’s a man you care for deeply, but he doesn’t seem to return your affection, does he?"

"Yes, yes!" Charlotte practically burst with enthusiasm, nodding far too eagerly, her voice unintentionally loud with desperation. "Exactly! I just don’t understand it. He used to be sweet, attentive even... I’ve tried everything—expensive gifts, subtle hints—but no matter what I do, he remains completely unmoved!"

Goodness, Violet cringed inwardly. Is she seriously upset that she can’t buy a man with her money? What is wrong with this woman? No wonder Miss Dumas had come up with such an elaborate and bizarre plan.

"Well," she said aloud, forcing her voice to remain calm and smooth, despite the growing urge to roll her eyes. "Rest assured—there’s actually a very simple solution to your problem."

"There is? Oh my God, that’s amazing!" Charlotte’s eyes lit up with hope, her voice rising with excitement.

"Yes," Violet nodded slowly, leaning forward just slightly, her expression turning serious. "But... it can also be a bit tricky."

"Tricky?" Charlotte’s smile faltered, her brow arching in concern. "How so?"

"You see," Violet began, carefully recalling the scripted lines Anna had made her memorize, "your misfortune does, indeed, seem to be connected to money. The man you desire is likely turning away from your charms not because you’re lacking, but because he carries a great deal of pride. And pride... can be a heavy burden in matters of the heart. But this energy can be shifted. All it takes is a small—yet meaningful—sacrifice."

God, Violet bit her lower lip with frustration. I can’t believe I’m actually saying this nonsense out loud.

"A sacrifice?" Charlotte echoed, leaning in closer, her eyes glittering with curiosity and eagerness. "What kind of sacrifice are we talking about?"

"Find a man who is the complete opposite of the one you’re pursuing," Violet said, clasping her hands together atop the table with a sage-like air. "Someone who differs in looks, in energy, even in social standing—and then pay him for his affection. This will create a ripple in the power dynamic surrounding you. The universe will take note of this shift, and in response... it will grant your heart’s desire."

"A man who looks the complete opposite of him?" Charlotte repeated, blinking. "I’m sorry, I’m not sure I follow..."

"Don’t tell me you’ve never visited the host bars, Mrs. Bloom!" Violet nearly lost her patience, but quickly caught herself, remembering that the man with the hidden camera was already snapping discreet photos of them.

"Oh!" Charlotte gasped, instantly covering her mouth with her manicured fingers, her cheeks flushing a deep pink at the mention of her not-so-secret indulgence. "You even know that?" she whispered, leaning in closer, as if they were sharing a forbidden secret.

"And are you certain this will work?"

"Sometimes," Violet said with a solemn nod, pausing as she searched for just the right mystical-sounding words, "the universe gets confused about what we really want. Eye color, hair shade... even body type. When your energy has been too focused in one direction, it creates a block. So you must invest in the opposite to shift the flow, rebalance the power. Trust me—this will work."

"Alright!" Charlotte exclaimed, practically leaping to her feet as she snatched her sunglasses off the table. "Thank you so much—you have no idea how much this means!" She fumbled through her designer purse and finally pulled out a pristine white envelope, which she slid across the smooth tabletop with a touch of discretion. "Miss Dumas told me about your fees. Please, feel free to check the contents."

"No need," Violet said with a tight smile, gently dragging the envelope toward her. "I trust my clients... just as they trust me." She tried to ignore the awkward knot forming in her stomach. Accepting that money still felt wrong—even if it was all just part of the performance.

"Thank you again!" Charlotte sang out with exaggerated gratitude before making her dramatic exit, her high heels clicking rhythmically against the polished floors as she hurried away.

Look at her go, Violet thought with a quiet sigh of relief. Wouldn’t be surprised if she’s already on her way to the nearest host bar to find a man to throw money at.

"How did it go?" Anna asked as she stepped into the café, only after confirming that Charlotte’s car had finally disappeared down the street.

"A little too easy, honestly," Violet replied with a chuckle. "But I’m glad it’s over. So... what are you going to do with those pictures they took of us?"

Anna’s lips curled into a wicked smirk, her eyes gleaming with mischief. "We’re going to send them to her husband."

"Constantine Greenfield wants to meet with me," Anna murmured as she locked her phone and tossed it onto the couch. Her brows drew together in thought. "He hasn’t reached out in a while... I wonder if he’s going to ask me to be his friend again."

"Miss Dumas!" Violet’s voice rang out, cutting through the quiet of the living room like a firecracker. She rushed through the doorway, breathless and wide-eyed, heading straight for Anna. "It worked! Oh my God, it actually worked!"

Anna’s eyes widened as she took in the sight of her usually composed assistant looking completely disheveled. "What are you talking about?"

"The news! Check the news!" Violet exclaimed, thrusting a tablet into Anna’s hands. Her finger jabbed at the screen with urgent excitement. "It’s about Charlotte Bloom!"

A slow smirk spread across Anna’s lips as her gaze dropped to the screen, eagerly scanning the headline.

"Charlotte Bloom, wife of prominent businessman Andrew Zeller, was reportedly caught drunk and causing a scene at a local host bar—by none other than her own husband. She allegedly threw a public tantrum and came close to being arrested," Anna read aloud, her tone growing increasingly amused with each word.

"Following the outburst, it has come to light that Mrs. Bloom was a frequent patron of such establishments, spending a small fortune on paid male companionship. Investigations reveal she also used her husband’s money to purchase lavish gifts for her lovers. These revelations are now expected to form the basis of a highly publicized divorce case, with Mr. Zeller seeking full financial reparations."

Anna slowly lowered the tablet, a gleam of satisfaction lighting up her eyes. She looked at Violet with a grin that was equal parts triumphant and dangerous.

"Well done, Violet," Anna said as she shook her hand firmly, a sudden rush of liberation washing over her. For the first time in a while, she felt light—almost giddy—with triumph. "I killed two birds with one stone: my biggest bully and Marienne’s last remaining source of income. Just another little victory to add to my ever-growing collection."
