Renjiro studied the Elder Wisdom Tree’s offerings, his breath catching in his throat.
If he had to pick one word for these three potential additions to his forces, it would be "extraordinary."
Even the lowest-ranked among them, the Spirit of the Groves, was a terrifying prospect. Immune to magic, yet wielding a poison no antidote could fix... it was a potent combination.
And the system tagged them as ’Elf Mages.’ That meant they weren’t just resistant fighters; they could likely wield the powerful magic inherent to the elves.
Renjiro’s mind raced, painting a vivid picture: Graceful Spirits of the Groves gliding onto the battlefield, unleashing waves of magic that swept over the enemy ranks.
Every foe touched by their spells would instantly fall victim to that incurable poison, spreading weakness and despair with no way to stop it.
The thought alone sent a shiver down his spine, it would be devastatingly effective!
His gaze shifted to the gold coin count displayed by the system.
28,073.
That was it. Every last coin in the territory had been poured into summoning elves. Even the young ones, like sweet young Vanya, had chipped in their personal savings. This modest sum was the entirety of Renjiro, the Elf King’s current wealth.
"Twenty-eight thousand..." he murmured. "It has to be the Spirits of the Groves. They’re the priority right now."
"The Druids and Golems will have to wait," he reasoned, already planning ahead. "I’ll get the funds once I sell those magic cores. And then there’s the gold mine... worth at least ten million, maybe more, just waiting."
He recalled Lyanna’s words, "The Ironcrest merchants hired a Master prospector, remember? He estimated the ore could yield over fifteen million gold coins!"
"And mining it... with elves doing the work, there are practically no costs!" Renjiro’s excitement grew. "That means nearly fifteen million gold, pure profit, straight into my treasury!"
A surge of eagerness filled him. He wanted to march to those mountains right now. With that kind of wealth, he could summon so many more high-level elves, building an truly formidable army.
"But even with these powerhouses," he reminded himself, "I can’t neglect the Archers and Huntresses."
Their rank might be lower, but their role was crucial. Especially the Archers leveled up, their arrow volleys would be a force to be reckoned with.
He pictured it: Giant Golems drawing all the enemy fire with their taunt, while ranks of Archers rained down death from a safe distance. Just imagining the synergy made him grin. It was a terrifyingly effective picture.
"System," Renjiro declared with conviction, "Use all 28,073 gold coins. Summon Spirits of the Groves!"
[Acknowledged, User!]
A bright stream of golden light pulsed from Renjiro’s forehead, sinking into the ancient wood of the Elder Wisdom Tree.
Instantly, the massive tree seemed to respond. Its branches rustled, leaves trembling as if with anticipation.
Moments later, soft rays of emerald green light detached themselves from the canopy, drifting down to land gently on the empty clearing before Renjiro.
"These... these are the Spirits of the Groves?"
Renjiro could only stare, momentarily speechless.
Standing before him now was a group of figures unlike any elves he’d seen. They were small, barely reaching 1.4 meters in height, like young girls on the cusp of adulthood.
They wore simple, elegant dresses seemingly woven from living green vines and delicate flowers, leaving their fair arms and long legs bare.
Wreaths of blossoms adorned their heads, giving them an ethereal, almost fragile quality. They looked beautiful, delicate... and utterly captivating.
Their long, beautiful hair cascaded down their shoulders like living waterfalls.
Each Spirit of the Groves carried a slender staff shimmering faintly with magic.
They floated just above the ground, their bare feet never touching the earth. This wasn’t an active spell; it came naturally from the pairs of delicate, almost invisible wings beating softly behind them.
Renjiro couldn’t help but think they resembled the fey creatures of legend – sprites or fairies – more than the typical elves he commanded.
"Your Majesty!"
The chorus of voices was as beautiful as their appearance. The group of Spirits gathered, offering Renjiro a flawless bow, their respect clear and immediate.
