I Became My Elf King Character In A Game-Like World -
Chapter 32: Trading Party
Chapter 32: Trading Party
The system’s description hinted at something even more intriguing.
Renjiro speculated that the Unicorn King was likely among the herd. Otherwise, why would there be a "Mark of the Unicorn Disdain" as a failure penalty?
"If the Unicorn King is weak or injured, that would explain why it’s in danger. Either that, or it hasn’t ascended to its full power yet—just like me, a young ruler still growing stronger."
Either way— He was determined to take it.
"Your Majesty..." Elaria’s soft voice broke his thoughts. Renjiro turned to look at his future queen.
Now that Elaria had ascended to the Moonlit Priestess class, she appeared even more radiant than before. Her entire being glowed with a divine light, resembling the sacred maidens of legend.
But now was not the time for distractions.
He issued his next command.
"Distribute the new Elven warriors across the territory. Ensure they have housing. Expand our settlement if necessary."
The three Elven commanders nodded.
"Understood, Your Majesty!"
Lorien reassured him, "With the help of our Mages, we can construct enough homes for our new kin in no time."
Unlike other races, there was no resistance among the Elves towards their newly arrived divine realm kin. As long as they were Elves, they were all part of the same family.
With his last 5,000 gold coins, Renjiro constructed five Elunarian Springs.
As the sacred water filled each well, Elaria and the commanders couldn’t contain their excitement.
For the past few days, the Elves had been drinking Life Water from the Elunarian Spring, and the results had been astonishing. Many had already advanced in rank, and their overall strength had surged.
"Six Elunarian Springs in total—for now, that’s enough!"
Each Elunarian Spring could sustain ten thousand elves for half a year, meaning that six wells could easily support sixty thousand elves during that time.
Currently, however, there were fewer than thirty thousand elves residing in his territory. With this surplus, there was no risk of running out of the Water of Life anytime soon.
The elves, having completed their task, began to leave the sacred grounds. The once-busy clearing gradually returned to its usual tranquil state, bathed in the soft glow of moonlight filtering through the dense canopy above.
Renjiro glanced at Elaria, who stood beside him, her delicate fingers still intertwined with his. Her hand was soft and warm, a stark contrast to the cool night air surrounding them.
He could feel the faint pulse of her magic through her skin, gentle, yet vibrant, like the essence of nature itself.
"Let’s return," Renjiro said, his voice calm yet firm.
....
The next day, the sun shone brightly, hot and strong above the Forest.
On the east side of the forest, a group of traders appeared. They had lots of people with them, dozens of knights in black armor riding big horses.
The sound of their metal gear and the horses’ hooves filled the air. Fancy wagons rolled behind them, shining in the sunlight.
A little buzz of magic came from inside the wagons, showing that human magic users were hiding there. At the front, a flag waved with a gold flower picture on it, looking bright and bold.
"Dear Knight Theron, the young lady wants to see you!" A small maid said shyly.
She stood by one of the wagons, keeping her head down. She didn’t dare look up at the big knight on his horse. Her hands played with her apron, and her voice shook a little as she talked.
"Stay alert, everyone!" Theron shouted loudly.
He was a tough-looking man with a big beard and dark armor that covered his strong body.
A huge sword hung by his side, and he looked tall and powerful on his horse. When he yelled, the other knights sat up straight and looked around carefully.
This was the Forest, a dangerous place where anything could happen.
Theron rode his horse over to a fancy wagon. "Miss Lyra, do you need me?" he asked in a rough but polite voice.
He stopped beside the wagon and leaned down a bit, waiting for her to answer. His horse stood still, waiting too.
The curtain on the wagon moved, and a pretty young girl peeked out. Lyra had shiny hair and bright eyes that sparkled with wonder.
"Knight Theron," she said softly, "I just want to know, how long until we get to the Elves land?"
She held her hands together and leaned out a little. The wind played with her hair, and she smiled, excited to hear his answer.
Theron sat up tall. "If nothing goes wrong, we’ll be there in three hours," he said with a sure nod.
He put one hand on his sword handle and glanced at the path ahead. Everything looked fine so far, and he knew they were moving fast enough.
Lyra’s face glowed with joy. "I can’t wait to see the Elves home! People say it’s the prettiest place in the whole Continent!"
Her voice was full of energy, and she touched her chest like she could already see the green fields and shiny rivers from the stories. Her eyes twinkled like a kid’s.
Theron lifted his shoulders a little. "Maybe it is," he said, not caring much.
He rubbed his beard and kept his face plain. He was a punishment knight who only liked fighting and his sword. Pretty places didn’t matter to him, just staying alive and being strong did.
Lyra paused, then spoke quieter. "Knight Theron, are the unicorn stories about this forest true?"
She looked around nervously, like a unicorn might pop out of the trees. Her hands held the curtain tighter.
Theron nodded. "Some hired fighters saw unicorns go into this forest themselves. That’s why the marquis sent me with this group, to catch them."
He patted his horse’s neck as he talked, sounding calm and sure. His eyes showed he was serious about the job. Unicorns were special and worth a lot, and he wasn’t going to fail.
Lyra looked worried. "But stories say unicorns are friends with the Elves. Won’t catching them make the elves mad?"
