I Ascend to the Divine Throne through Arcane Means -
Chapter 941 - 568: Ihelos in the Blood Tower
City Lord Mansion, Blood Tower,
At the base of the ancient and shadowy tower, a figure sat quietly upon a tall throne. Above the throne in mid-air, an illusory light orb constantly shed specks of radiance.
The figure on the throne was bone-thin, as if every bit of flesh and blood had been drained by long years and endless suffering, leaving only skin and bones, like a ghost that had escaped from the edge of Hell.
At the top of the tower, countless streams of scarlet liquid silently cascaded down, like a waterfall controlled by an invisible hand, carrying a strange tranquility and ominousness. These streams interwove in the air and ultimately gathered at the base of the tower, gradually forming a blood pool that submerged the figure's knees.
The scarlet liquid surged and twisted within the pool, like a distorted life form, each ripple releasing a heart-palpitating frenzy and intent to kill, as if piercing through flesh to reach the very soul.
The air around was filled with a suffocating smell of rust and decay, the scent of blood and time intertwined, instilling an inexplicable fear and oppression. And the figure sitting on the throne seemed to meld into this sea of blood, becoming an inseparable part of the terrifying scene.
In this domain steeped in blood, time seemed to lose its meaning, leaving only eternal silence and the notion of slaughter swirling in the air. And the emaciated figure was the dominator of this place, sitting with an otherworldly posture on the throne, seemingly waiting for something, guarding something.
Lis flew above the tower, overlooking everything within this Blood Tower.
Scanning the scenes within the tower for a moment, Lis was caught off guard when the skeletal figure on the throne suddenly lifted its head and glanced at him in the sky.
Its eyes were deeply sunk, flickering with an unearthly gleam, a gaze fallen into dead silence, yet seeming to contain a glow of some strange determination.
Though Lis felt no murderous intent, he was suddenly chilled, as if a great danger was about to descend.
In an instant, all the scarlet liquid within the Blood Tower began to seethe, transforming under an immense and terrifying Magic Power into countless scarlet arrows attacking Lis.
Shit!
Lis's face changed, for the dense malice emanating from those scarlet arrows made him dare not touch them.
He could ascertain that these arrows formed from scarlet liquid might even contain Divine Power, not something he, without legendary prowess, could resist.
Without even casting a Magic Shield, Lis directly used Space Transmission to leave the area.
After losing their target, those scarlet arrows dissipated in mid-air, and the scarlet liquid returned to the Blood Tower.
With Lis's departure, the Blood Tower reverted to its previous calmness, not even breaking the simple Barrier Lis had left behind.
The figure seated on the throne within the Blood Tower lowered its head once more, remaining motionless like a dried-up corpse.
...
A moment later, Lis appeared on the rooftop overlooking the edge of the City Lord Mansion, looking apprehensively in the direction of the building's backyard.
Although the Blood Tower had disappeared, that was due to Lis's cloaking Barrier, naturally not obstructing his view.
Upon seeing the Blood Tower return to tranquility, Lis finally sighed in relief.
Today's surprises were more than enough for him.
The anticipated Mage Tower of Ihelos hadn't appeared; instead, an incredibly sinister Blood Tower had shown up.
That was definitely not a Mage Tower; Lis felt it resembled an altar for sacrificing life!
How many lives had been sacrificed to accumulate the scarlet blood river within that Blood Tower?
Was it truly that all the city's people turned into Undead Creatures to become sacrifices for that Blood Tower?
Was it Ihelos who did this?
Lis was hesitant.
When he saw the emaciated figure in the Blood Tower, Lis almost didn't react.
Believing it was also a corpse, just like the nameless strongman in the City Lord Mansion hall.
But when that figure lifted its head and glanced at him, the subsequent overwhelming and terrifying Magic Power allowed Lis to almost confirm the identity of that emaciated figure.
Legendary Undead Mage Ihelos!
He was indeed in this Blood Tower!
The likelihood of a second Legendary Mage appearing in this small city was nearly zero, so Lis was confident in his deduction.
Therefore, the one who attacked Lis at the Golden Coconut Inn earlier was also him, but since the main body wasn't there, he didn't pursue Lis and continued to guard Jue?
Yet, Lis felt something was off.
Especially the sensation from the figure sitting on the Blood Pool Throne, Lis felt a coldness and ruthlessness from its gaze, seemingly devoid of rationality.
This didn't seem like a Legendary Mage who would create an entire Undead City for a beloved's sake.
Could it be that over countless years, Ihelos's rationality had been completely lost?
Lis wasn't sure, as just a brief glimpse had provoked that emaciated figure's attack.
But there was also an issue with this place.
If at the Golden Coconut Inn, when Lis probed Jue, it was because Ihelos needed to continue protecting Jue, hence not pursuing Lis, then why was Ihelos so easily letting him go in this Blood Tower?
