I am Villain Cultivator -
Chapter 45: Crisis of the Kilvish Clan
Chapter 45: Chapter 45: Crisis of the Kilvish Clan
Charles Kilvish’s expression hardened as he stood at the centre of the arena, his black robe rippling in the rising storm of Qi that surrounded him. The crowd had fallen into a stunned silence, unable to process the sudden shift from celebration to catastrophe.
His gaze snapped toward the man with the fan and feminine features, Elder Adrian of the Jeral Clan.
"So this is all your doing, Adrian," Charles said coldly, his voice echoing with anger. "Even if the Kilvish and Jeral Clans have been enemies for generations, launching a direct assault on our grounds is crossing a line. You’ve declared war."
Adrian merely chuckled behind his ornate fan, his eyes gleaming with cruel delight. But before Charles could speak further, his attention shifted warily to the other figure.
Elder Adaeze.
The silver-haired dragon of thunder. One of the Ten Heavenly Dragons. One of the few beings on the continent, Charles would hesitate to fight head-on.
"Tell me, Adaeze," Charles said, his tone more cautious now, "is the Storm Clan part of this treachery as well?"
He already feared the answer.
He knew the power of a Heavenly Dragon all too well; his wife, Bella, was one. Called The Divine Ice Dragon, feared even among top cultivators. If Adaeze had made his move, it meant the situation had spiralled beyond anything Charles had expected.
Adaeze stepped forward, the very air bending under his presence. His expression was calm, but the storm in his eyes betrayed a deep intensity.
" Charles," he said, "the lies about your ancestor’s seclusion are no longer convincing. The truth is out. Your so-called protector hasn’t been seen for decades not because he’s cultivating, but because he’s crippled."
Charles’s fists clenched. Adaeze’s voice turned grave.
"The Jeral Clan, the Storm Clan, the Thunder Spear Sect, and the Spirit Beast Hall, four out of nine of the Azure Sky Continent’s great powers, have come together. Your Kilvish Clan has stood tall for too long on false strength. Your time is over. Surrender now."
With that, Elder Adaeze released his aura.
It crashed onto the arena like a falling mountain, a Half-Step into the Divine Realm.
The tiles beneath Charles’s feet cracked. A ripple of dread spread through the air as countless cultivators in the crowd fell to their knees, unable to withstand the pressure. Even Charles staggered slightly, his body tensing as his Qi flared to resist the weight pressing against him.
"Y...you beasts," he growled, veins bulging across his forehead as his spiritual energy flared to match. "So this is how you choose to strike... with deceit and overwhelming force."
He looked once more toward Adrian, who simply smiled behind his fluttering fan, his expression like that of a spider watching a struggling fly.
But Charles did not falter.
He raised his voice, infusing it with Qi that carried across the entire compound.
"All clan members, this is an emergency! Enemies stand at our gates!"
His voice rang like a war horn.
"Hide the women and children in the deep sanctuaries! Elders, disciples, brothers and sisters of the Kilvish Clan prepare for war!"
Elder Adrian of the Jeral Clan swayed his fan delicately, his voice as smooth as silk and laced with mockery.
"Adaeze, darling," he said with a sly smile, "you should finish him now. My master grows impatient. The Eclipse Veil of the Moon Formation, the Kilvish Clan’s so-called divine barrier, can hold back a Divine Realm cultivator for only three days. We don’t have the luxury of wasting time."
But his words did not land the way he expected.
Elder Adaeze, the Thunder Dragon of the Storm Clan, turned slowly toward Adrian. His silver-white hair crackled with faint bolts of lightning, and his glowing blue eyes narrowed.
A muscle twitched on his jaw.
"I warned you before, Adrian," Adaeze growled, his voice low and edged with menace, "call me ’darling’ one more time, and I’ll kill you first you sissy man."
The amusement on Adrian’s face vanished instantly, replaced by a brief flicker of fear. The fan trembled in his hand for the briefest of moments before he regained composure, stepping back slightly with a pout.
"Hmph. So touchy," Adrian muttered, but he said no more.
Charles Kilvish, still standing in the middle of the cracked arena platform, felt his heart drop.
His gaze flickered between the two intruding elders, then drifted to the chaotic skyline beyond the shattered gates of his clan. The swirling defensive barrier of the Eclipse Veil Formation was already active, its pale moonlight cascading across the heavens, shielding the Kilvish ancestral grounds in a dome of shimmering illusion and gravity distortions.
Yet, they knew. The attacker is from the Jeral clan, a Divine Realm ancestor known as the Mirror Immortal. What most dreads is that they are aware of the formation. They learned about its limits.
And they knew about the Divine Ancestor’s secret.
Charles’s fists clenched. This was no ordinary betrayal. This was orchestrated. Precise. Personal.
For the enemy forces to know about the Eclipse Veil’s duration, to know that their ancestor was wounded and unable to fight it could mean only one thing.
There was a traitor inside the Kilvish Clan.
His blood ran cold as he swept his spiritual sense through the clan grounds.
Who? Who betrayed us?
His heart beat like a war drum, each thump echoing with fury. The realisation settled like iron in his bones.
"This was never just an invasion..." he whispered to himself. "This was an execution, and someone from within handed them the blade." he looked at the divine realm Mirror Immortal.
He stood frozen, his expression a mask of restrained dread as the oppressive Divine Realm pressure loomed over the clan grounds. His hands curled tightly at his sides, and for a moment, even his Sea Realm cultivation trembled beneath the weight of revelation.
This can’t be happening...
This was the Kilvish Clan’s most guarded secret, one that had remained buried for twenty-five years.
The only reason the Kilvish Clan still held the title of one of the Giants of the Azure Sky Continent was not because of their mid-Legend Rank cultivation techniques... nor their bloodline talents of Shadow and Gravity.
It was because they possessed something far rarer.
A Divine Realm cultivator.
Their ancestor, the true pillar of the Kilvish legacy, had once stood among the apex beings of this world. His shadow alone was enough to deter invasions, silence enemies, and command respect from the most powerful clans of the continent.
But no one outside the innermost circle knew the truth.
Twenty-five years ago, during a secretive expedition into the Phoenix Rain Continent, their ancestor had been grievously wounded.
The culprit? The Elven Queen herself is an ancient being and one of the most terrifying existences on the Elysian cultivation planet. By the laws of her realm, outsiders were forbidden from stepping into the sacred lands of the elves. When the Kilvish Ancestor trespassed seeking something that would help him to break through the realm of the divine realm, he encountered her wrath.
The battle was brief. Brutal. One-sided.
Though he escaped with his life, the wounds he suffered were no ordinary injuries. They reached into his very soul crippling his foundation and forcing him into deep seclusion.
Since then, the truth had been hidden, buried behind a mountain of lies to protect both the ancestor and the clan. They crafted a believable story: the ancestor was meditating in eternal retreat, seeking Dao enlightenment beyond mortal comprehension.
In truth, he had been recovering, weakened, and vulnerable.
Only three souls in the entire Kilvish Clan knew this bitter truth:
I, the current Patriarch,
Grand Elder William, Grand Elder of the clan
And the Spirit of the Nirvana Tower, the ancient sentient guardian that served as both protector and witness to the clan’s greatest secrets.
To everyone else, their ancestor was untouchable. Supreme. Unseen, yes, but not because of weakness. Because of wisdom. Now, with a Divine Realm enemy knocking on their gates, that carefully spun illusion threatened to unravel.
And Charles knew if the truth came out, if the enemy sensed even a hint of weakness, the entire Kilvish Clan could crumble.
