Chapter 34: Chapter 34: Blood Queen Bee (Part III: Wings of Blood)
Kaal was enjoying the fight far more than he should have. Blood trickled down his arms, his clothes were torn in several places, and deep gashes painted his figure in red, but his eyes still gleamed with primal thrill. Despite the wounds and rapidly dwindling Qi, he stood firm, his brute strength pushing his body far beyond its limits.
A sharp whirl of wind accompanied another volley of blood rain from the furious Blood Queen Bee. Kaal twisted, narrowly avoiding the deadly droplets as they sliced into the ground behind him like knives.
"Have you seen enough?" he called out coldly, his voice echoing across the battlefield.
He had sensed them long ago. His Mind Eye Perception had easily picked out the three silent watchers hidden among the shadows. But he had chosen to ignore them. This fight, this chaos, had lit something inside him that refused to die quietly. He knew it was an impossible dream to solo an Earthcore Beast, especially while only at the first stage of the Foundation Realm. But the fact that he had matched the Blood Queen Bee blow for blow was already enough to declare him a genius of the century.
A rustle in the foliage broke the standoff.
Samrat stepped into the clearing, arms folded, eyes filled with disdain. He had been waiting. Waiting for Kaal to bleed, to collapse, to break. Then he would claim the kill and the glory. But now, seeing Kaal still standing tall, a twinge of annoyance tightened his jaw.
"I can’t support an idiot who’s so eager to become food for an Earthcore Beast," Samrat scoffed, his tone dripping with contempt.
Kaal turned to him, a grin forming through the blood on his lips. "At least I’m better than some cowards whose only relevance is their age."
The jab hit its mark.
Samrat’s face twitched. A vein bulged on his forehead. He was nineteen years old and four years older than Kaal, and already at the fifth stage of the Foundation Realm. Yet, despite that, they stood at the same level in the clan, both treated equally. Worse still, he had often been grouped with Kaal under the shared title "Twin Shadow Dragons of the Kilvis Clan."
The comparison burned.
A moment later, a soft voice broke the silence.
"Young Master... I apologize. Due to my insufficient strength, I wasn’t able to help you earlier."
Ashen emerged from the shadow of a nearby tree, his expression calm and unreadable. His cultivation was merely that of a rank 3 warrior, far below what was needed to face an Earthcore Beast. In reality, he was also a first-stage Foundation Realm, but he was hiding his true cultivation with the [Absolute shadow] talent.
Samrat’s gaze shifted to him and sneered, pretending ignorance. "You? A weakling like you might still be useful... perhaps as a distraction long enough for me to finish this beast."
Ashen lowered his head. "As you say."
Then, a third figure stepped out, her movements slow, her shoulder still bandaged.
Divya.
"I thought... You didn’t need my help," she said softly, her eyes fixed on Kaal.
She was still wounded from her earlier fight with him, yet here she stood, facing the Blood Queen Bee without hesitation. Her green eyes burned with quiet resolve beneath the curtain of her sky-blue hair.
And so, they stood three cultivators of the Foundation Realm, and one rank 3 warrior, all facing a beast that had nearly devoured them one by one.
The Blood Queen Bee’s wings buzzed violently, the blood mist around her darkening as she sensed the shift in pressure. Her eyes gleamed with predatory glee.
The air trembled with violent energy as the Blood Queen Bee hovered above the battlefield, her wings a blur of crimson light. The red mist swirling around her thickened, and with a shriek that cracked the silence, she surged forward, her killing intent pressing down like a tidal wave.
Samrat moved first.
His figure blurred, appearing in front of the Queen just as she made to ascend. With a roar, he slammed both palms into the air. A pulse of Gravity-elemental Qi surged outward, forming a barrier of black light around her. The Queen jerked back in fury, but Samrat held his ground.
"You’re not going anywhere," he growled, veins bulging along his arms as he poured his Qi into the trap.
The Blood Queen retaliated immediately, spewing a spiral of blood spikes at him, but they never reached him.
A black inferno roared to life midair.
Whooosh!
Divya raised her hand, her eyes calm and focused, despite the pain etched into her body. The Black Phoenix Flame swirled around her like an avenging spirit, each tendril of dark fire incinerating the blood projectiles before they came close.
Her flames hissed and curled like serpents, creating a protective dome around the team. Then, with a sharp motion, she raised her other hand and launched a jet of black fire directly at the Queen’s right wing.
The Blood Queen shrieked as the searing flame singed her wing membrane. For a moment, she faltered midair.
Ashen took that chance.
His body moved like a shadow flickering in moonlight, impossible to track with the naked eye. Using his Shadow Walk, he zipped across the battlefield, leaving a trail of afterimages behind. One moment, he was behind her, then beside her, then beneath.
"Too slow," he whispered, unleashing a flurry of slashes from his curved dagger, each laced with corrupting Dark Qi.
Though the Queen parried with her razor stinger, the sheer unpredictability of Ashen’s movement kept her from focusing.
And then, Kaal moved.
Bloodied. Exhausted. Barely standing.
But his grip on the Dark Emperor Sword had never been tighter.
While others attacked and danced across the battlefield, he stood firm, shoulders squared, eyes blazing. The Queen’s massive stinger whipped toward Ashen’s exposed back.
Kaal roared.
"RAAAHH!"
He launched forward, intercepting the strike with his bare arm guard, the impact sending a shockwave through his entire body. Blood sprayed from the corner of his lips, but he didn’t move an inch.
A living shield.
"Divya!" he bellowed. "Now!"
A stream of black fire surged past him, scorching the Queen’s underbelly. She reeled.
Ashen reappeared beside Kaal. "She’s on the ropes! One final strike!"
Kaal’s eyes narrowed.
His sword began to glow a deep, azure radiance that pulsed with divine might.
With a calm breath, he whispered, "Dark Emperor Sword: Third Form Starfall Execution."
Silence followed.
Then—BOOM!
A shockwave exploded outward as Kaal vanished. The ground cracked beneath where he once stood.
Above, a brilliant beam of Azure Qi burst from the clouds, so bright it blinded the Queen. It was the fastest and most destructive attack that Kaal has.
The Blood Queen sensed death.
She tried to retreat. Her damaged wing beat weakly, but it was too late.
She turned and saw it.
A vertical slash, descending from the sky like judgment itself.
KRA-KOOOOOM!!!
A sonic boom ripped the forest apart. Trees bent from the pressure, the ground shattered, and blood mist was vaporized in a flash of pure azure light.
When the dust settled, a deep crater stretched across the clearing, smoking, silent.
At its edge stood Kaal.
His sword tip lowered, his breath ragged, his body trembling.
But his eyes... his eyes were steady.
Behind him, the Blood Queen Bee twitched once. Her antennae spasmed and then fell still.
The Earthcore Beast was dead.
The silence that followed was absolute. No insect buzzed. No wind stirred. Only the faint crackle of Divya’s flame and Kaal’s labored breathing.
Then—
Ashen chuckled softly.
"That was one hell of a finish."
Divya walked forward slowly, the black fire receding from her hands. "You’re bleeding, Kaal," she said, voice soft.
"It’s ok, it will heal," said Kaal. He was confident in the regeneration ability provided by the Myriads of Thousand Demon Body.
Samrat looked at the corpse of the Blood Queen, jaw clenched. His moment of glory was stolen. His eyes flicked to Kaal with something between jealousy and resentment.
In that instant, one thing was clear.
Kaal was no ordinary genius.
He was a monster born in battle, tempered by pain, driven by defiance.
And now, even the Earthcore beasts had learned to fear his name.
