Chapter 989: Chapter 986: I’ll Take This Guy
In the past, Jiuge, representing all the ruling power in the City of Drugs, was experiencing an unprecedented crisis, caused by a decision to kill twenty thousand survivors housed at the 709 Mine of the United District.
To the people, the massacre of over twenty thousand lives was something inconceivable. Was this the work of a demon? They had never cared for human lives, but in this apocalyptic world ruled by Jiuge, people had grown completely accustomed to this feeling. The lives of twenty thousand had been slaughtered by Jiuge, which was now a common occurrence.
Within Jiuge, members of the two major drug trafficking groups regarded human lives as worthless as grass and slaughtered at will. You would never know how many human skeletons made up those piles surrounding Jiuge.
However, it was undeniable that this indiscriminate massacre by Jiuge did not make the victims suffer in silence. The new ruler of the United District was also a brutal dictator. In terms of brutality, even Akam was no match. After Jiuge had provoked them, they undoubtedly faced the Peace Party’s frenzied revenge!
Their troops hid among the zombie hordes. Countless Jiuge soldiers were thrown into the hordes and torn to pieces. Their methods were even more brutal than those historically savage drug traffickers!
In the dense jungle, nearly a hundred heavily armored Reaper Tanks crushed everything in their path toward the City of Drugs. Above, one massive transport after another flew towards the city with dizzying noise. Occasionally, combat jets took off from the City of Drugs, but were quickly dispersed by the fierce fire from the transports, their parts scattering in the air with occasional sparks.
In the city, Peace Party soldiers in exoskeleton suits went on a killing spree. Jiuge soldiers, draped with chains of ammunition, fell like harvested wheat. The city was in chaos, the citizens speaking unintelligible Funanese as they ducked their heads to dodge the warfare, trying to avoid accidental injuries.
Previously, the noble half-wing tattoos became the deadliest death tokens upon the arrival of the Peace Party soldiers. Part of the zombie defense wall had collapsed; that was where the Peace Party had entered. The once fierce Jiuge soldiers turned into dismembered corpses under the Peace Party’s blades, and the stench of blood grew even thicker.
Some tried to cover their tattoos on their arms, but once discovered, a cold and dull blade would swing towards their necks.
"Akam can’t hide now. He’s inside there."
A Peace Party soldier pointed toward the huge black dome at the heart of the city, the City of Drugs’ last defense line. In front of them, Jiuge continuously retreated, utterly unable to resist. Every battle gave the soldiers the illusion that they were invincible.
And Jiuge was utterly weak!
Initially, when they had just arrived at the 709 Mine to commence battle with Jiuge, Akam, along with his Level 6 New Human cousin, made them somewhat worried. But now, they were fearless. Akam’s so-called cousin was indeed a Level 6 New Human, but during his fight with their vice-leader Tang Fu, confident in his superior strength and evolved mutant status, he had taken a direct punch from Tang Fu. The result was Akam’s Cousin, Adila, being heavily injured with all his ribs broken, and he had to escape with Akam, followed by the Peace Party’s relentless pursuit, all the way from the 709 Mine to the City of Drugs.
Even today, the soldiers couldn’t forget the scene they witnessed that day; in front of the meteoric power of Tang Fu’s punch, Adila was immediately blown apart, all his bones shattered. His exoskeleton was also reduced to junk metal, losing his combat ability on the spot. If it were not for their vice-leader’s slow speed, one of Jiuge’s Level 6 New Humans would have unquestionably died on the spot without objection.
After this battle, Tang Fu became renowned, turning into the most feared existence in Jiuge. After all, crippling a Level 6 New Human with a single punch was truly terrifying.
However, all of this seemed utterly foolish to Tang Ye, especially Adila’s choice to take a direct hit from Ah Fu. Knowing that Ah Fu’s strength, although slightly weaker than that of a Level 7 zombie, was still very close to Level 7. That punch had heavily injured Su Sigui, resulting in a tragic defeat, and naturally, Adila was no exception. Choosing to withstand the iron fist of a Level 6 strength-evolved zombie—how could this not be considered stupid?
But thinking about it, it made sense, as Akam’s Cousin was indeed a moron...
On a certain street, a Jiuge soldier, facing the assault of several Peace Party Level 4 New Humans, finally lost his ability to fight.
"Hmph, overestimating his own strength."
Coldly snorting, a soldier’s high-frequency cutting blade was placed at the Jiuge soldier’s neck, who had numerous wounds of varying sizes, most of which were inflicted by this soldier.
When he uttered those words, the incapacitated Jiuge soldier let out a roar like a wild beast. However, to be precise, it wasn’t a roar, but the local language of Funan nation; it just sounded like a roar due to the loud volume.
He strained to rise, wanting to stand, but surrounded by several New Humans of the same level, all his enemies! How could they possibly let him stand up again? Quickly, as his head just began to lift, a foot heavily stomped on his head, brutally rubbing his face against the ground.
"Die!"
Yu Guang saw that a Peace Party Level 4 Powerhouse behind him lifted the cutting blade, and under his despairing gaze, it plunged into his neck with a "pfft," intense pain clouding his consciousness. His world turned dark—a Level 4 New Human vanished just like that.
Right after his death, a voice filled with rage echoed from afar. Several Peace Party soldiers looked up to see a Jiuge soldier in an exoskeleton battle suit, whose all-around combat helmet had shattered. Since the broken helmet no longer served its purpose, the soldier simply discarded it. His face was young, his voice also young, speaking in the unintelligible Funan language, with dyed blonde hair, clearly a spirited young man.
At that moment, his face revealed a ferocious expression typical of a spirited young man, recklessly charging at several Peace Party powerhouses, his body exuding a strong smell of blood. However, this did not particularly concern the powerhouses since their opponent was only a Level 3 New Human.
"Yo ho, here comes another head on a platter," said a Level 4 Powerhouse, laughing with a cigarette dangled in his mouth, two-thirds of it already smoked—evidently, he had been smoking it during the earlier fight with Jiuge’s Level 4 Powerhouse. How presumptuous of him! However, five against one was just too easy.
He took the cigarette from his mouth and passed it to an ally beside him, who took a satisfying drag.
"You guys relax, I’ll handle this one."
