I am the Zombie King of the Apocalyptic World -
Chapter 947 - 943: Who Told You I’m Rank 6?
Chapter 947: Chapter 943: Who Told You I’m Rank 6?
Jin Ye’s gaze swept around; the tide of zombies was too massive to count exactly how many there were, but there must have been at least a few thousand, ranging from Level 2 to Level 4, including even seven or eight Level 5 zombies, all evolved.
However, Jin Ye was unconcerned about this; as long as there were no Level 6 zombies, his people wouldn’t suffer significant losses. The Predator Exoskeleton Battle Suits weren’t for show.
Ignoring the surrounding chaos, he and Lv Jinyu stepped out of the RV and steadily walked towards Pine Smoke Hall, striking down any who dared block their path with ease!
Their actions soon caught the attention of Song Muyuan. With a turn of his head, his gaze locked onto them. Raising his hand, the high-level zombies around him roared and charged at them, baring their ferocious maws. However, they quickly seemed to be disturbed by another being’s will and abruptly halted in the next second.
Song Muyuan sensed something, looked in the opposite direction towards the location of Pine Smoke Hall, and saw Tang Ye sitting on the throne shaking his head at him. Understanding passed between them, and Song Muyuan nodded towards Tang Ye. The evolved zombies that were about to attack Jin Ye and his company suddenly turned and changed their target, moving away from the area.
Jin Ye, realizing something was off, sneered coldly at Tang Ye, then raised Hatred from a distance of over five hundred meters away from Pine Smoke Hall.
His arm muscles bulged with strength, and he hurled Hatred in Tang Ye’s direction. Hatred flew through the air and, with pinpoint accuracy, soared into Pine Smoke Hall.
The immense force couldn’t be dissipated; with it propelling his body forward, Hatred crashed onto the ground and, pushed by Jin Ye’s power, carved a trench through the shiny, polished floor of Pine Smoke Hall until it reached near Tang Ye, shattering the antique screen beside him before coming to a stop.
Soon after, Jin Ye and Lv Jinyu walked confidently into Pine Smoke Hall and looked up at Li Henian sitting high above them.
"Marshal Li, you can come down now. Your trusted general is already in this state; do you think just one Level 6 New Human like you can withstand an attack from both of us?"
Jin Ye’s tone was thick with disdain, as if he were a warlord dominating his rivals during chaotic times, now standing in a high hall confronting the former king!
No emotion could be seen on Tang Ye’s face. His gaze swept from the entrance of Pine Smoke Hall along the trench carved by Hatred to the end. The once immaculate and seamless porcelain floor was scarred by such a trench, like an unsightly, hideous scar on the face of a beauty eclipsing all others, utterly repelling!
"Marshal Li, I really want to know what’s going through your head right now. With the tide of power turning and your life hanging by a thread, what does that feel like? Also, seeing him like that, do you think you’ll end up the same way in a little while? Indeed, it’s quite possible you might die before them."
Tang Ye didn’t speak for a long time, but Jin Ye didn’t feel like waiting for him to say a word before replying. He quickly spoke up, his eyes unexpectedly filled with anticipative color, for a person’s thoughts are most complex when they are at the brink of defeat.
Yet, in his view, there was not a hint of the emotion he sought in Li Henian’s eyes.
"I’m sorry to disappoint you, but I don’t have that many thoughts. I’ve just finished an investigation, and among your people, practically all the major players in the United District are represented, just in varying numbers. Yet, they all want to rebel against me. When I first arrived in the United District, I said that anyone who defied me would have to die!"
"Compared to those meaningless ideas you mentioned, I’m more concerned with how to deal with you rebels. There are simply too many of you, and perhaps the strong among your group are only representing their personal wills. But how could I know what’s truly in your hearts? What if some of you are representing the forces behind you?"
"I really don’t like playing manipulative games. I prefer to teach those garbage a lesson through killing. But the trouble is, there are too many among you representing different forces behind the scenes. If I were to follow through, it wouldn’t be possible to kill everyone, would it?"
As he spoke, Tang Ye stood up, his face expressionless, but the violent emotion in his eyes was like a thunderstorm hidden in dark clouds, ready to pour down upon the earth at any moment!
He walked over to a damaged screen and, pointing at Hatred who lay on the ground unable to move, said, "Perhaps this guy is right; those with strength who can’t be controlled are like time bombs. They’ll turn on me suddenly at some point. At first, I thought he was completely wrong, but now, I have to admit that some dangerous things must be either eradicated or controlled in my hands, not left to roam freely outside!"
At this moment, Tang Ye turned his gaze towards Jin Ye and his companion, who frowned in response. Tang Ye didn’t look like someone who had hit a dead end. He clearly still had some cards to play!
Thinking this, Jin Ye felt a growing unease inside. He recalled Hatred’s previous threats to him; were they not unfounded?
Still, he pretended to be calm and said indifferently, "Marshal Li is so composed; do you not realize the gravity of your current situation? Take a good look outside. Your Peace Party has lost utterly. You can only rely on a bunch of mindless zombies to put on a front. Now that Hatred has been crippled by us, and your other capable subordinate is occupied with Jiuge, what are you, a mere Level 6 New Human, against us?"
"Oh, really? Hehehahahahaha~"
Tang Ye was stunned for a moment, then suddenly burst into laughter as if he had heard a very funny joke. After a while, the smile on his face disappeared, and similarly, the expressions on Jin Ye and Lv Jinyu’s faces turned extremely unsightly, the unease within them intensifying.
"Who told you I was Level 6? Are you not a bit too naive?"
Tang Ye’s sudden remark hit them like a nail piercing their hearts in an instant, sending a chill down their spines. It was in the second following Tang Ye’s words that Jin Ye and Lv Jinyu felt the hairs on their necks stand on end!
"You... you’re not Level 6? Could it be, you... you... you’re... Level 7?"
He struggled to spit out those last two words, and it seemed to drain all the strength from him, a Level 6 New Human!
How he wished what Tang Ye had said was false, that the implication wasn’t Level 7 but rather Level 5. That way, "Who told you I was Level 6?" would still make sense.
