I am the Zombie King of the Apocalyptic World
Chapter 939 - 935: Never Seen Such Shamelessness

Chapter 939: Chapter 935: Never Seen Such Shamelessness

"Boss Jin Ye, let me tell you, anyone who can easily cough up a million Yajin is definitely a rich man. Maybe he’s got another million in his pocket. Just give us the client’s information, and we’ll go kill the guy and rob him blind!"

As he spoke, Jin Ye drew closer and closer to him. Then suddenly, his eyes flew open, staring deathly into Jin Ye’s murderous gaze.

"Boss, what... what are you doing?"

"What else? I’m murdering someone, of course!"

"But... why are you... wh..."

He looked down at his own chest, where Jin Ye’s hand, like the claw of a zombie, had easily torn through and invaded his body. And there, in this man’s grasp, was his own heart!

"I should’ve suspected you a long time ago!"

Jin Ye said coldly to his long-time underling, each word deliberate, while he continued to squeeze relentlessly. The other man felt his heart being compressed under Jin Ye’s forceful grip, a sensation of chilling coldness spreading through his body, decidedly uncomfortable.

It felt like the acute sensitivity of raw skin when touched, completely contrary to normal touch, coupled with a bone-deep pain.

The words coming out of Jin Ye’s mouth baffled the underling.

What did it mean that he should’ve been suspected? What had he done?

He racked his brain but couldn’t understand why Jin Ye would suddenly turn on him—he was utterly loyal!

But in this world before the Apocalypse, where was there ever absolute loyalty between people? He may have thought so, but the other party didn’t think the same. There would always come a time when he would be suspected.

Since the Red General mentioned that the Mercenary Guild was changing its name, Jin Ye had become suspicious. And eventually, his suspicions landed on this trusted lieutenant of his!

What did it matter if he was a confidant? Wasn’t he still human? No matter how powerful Jin Ye was, he could never predict human hearts. Preferably kill the wrong person rather than tolerate any potential risks!

"Die!"

Without giving him the slightest chance to explain, Jin Ye tightened his grip, and the undeniable force of a Level 6 New Human acting on a Level 5 New Human’s heart was all it took. A faint "puchi" was heard as the man’s heart was crushed to pieces by Jin Ye!

Struck at the vital spot, and especially for New Humans, the most critical vital spot at that—the heart shattered, not even a deity could save him!

"Hmph!"

With a cold snort, Jin Ye pulled his hand out of the man’s body. In the eyes of the onlookers, Jin Ye’s hand was thoroughly soaked in red, sending a chill down the spines of the powerhouses. The dead man had been with Jin Ye the longest, nearly five years. Five years, even raising a dog would stir up some affection, right?

But what chilled the powerhouses to the bone was that Jin Ye killed without the slightest hesitation!

As Jin Ye’s hand withdrew from the man’s body, the latter collapsed as if all strength had been drained from him. He fell to the ground, with a faint look of disbelief, and before him, Jin Ye’s impassive eyes.

"You, I’ve followed you for so long, and now you suspect me? Jin Ye, you...you! You don’t deserve...a good death!"

It seemed he’d realized something, and he used the last of his remaining strength to curse vehemently, but no sooner had the words left his mouth than with a "bang", his head burst open like an overripe watermelon!

Blood splattered like a stone thrown into a tranquil lake, and a Level 4 New Human nearby was caught off guard, his face splashed with blood, mingled with brain tissue and gore. The strong scent of blood made him feel nauseous.

He very much wanted to wipe off the gore and blood from his face, but he didn’t dare move, fearing that any movement would mean he’d be the next to die!

Some distance away, the Red General and his companions were drawn by the scene, stopped in their tracks, turned to look, and all furrowed their brows upon seeing the bloody spectacle, a single word flashing through their minds.

That word was "cruel".

At the same time, Jin Ye’s aura of murderous intent filled the air, and his voice rang out at that moment, "What, aren’t you leaving?"

"We’re leaving now, we’re leaving this instant!" The Red General felt a tightness in his chest and quickly nodded, turning around with his companions.

"Move it, Jin Ye must be going mad."

"Let’s go, let’s go!"

They whispered among themselves; they had just turned and taken a step when their foot hung suspended mid-air, not touching down, for in front of them, a shadow appeared, clad in black with a ghastly mask like a fierce ghost, in his hand a bone knife that looked terrifyingly chilling. It was long, and as he moved, it scraped across the ground, sending sparks flying!

It was Hatred!

"Those of you who are still alive ought to know by now why you’re still alive. Since you’re alive, from today onwards you are of the Mercenary Guild. However, after this battle, it’s clear that the Mercenary Guild can no longer continue to exist. Tomorrow, it will transform into the Golden Night, and all present here will become the pivotal strength of the Golden Night!"

"But even though we will become the Golden Night, we must still abide by the previous rules. We will continue to provide convenient services to the residents of the United District. The Mercenary Guild may no longer exist, but in essence, it still does; it has merely changed its name!"

The strong ones looked at Jin Ye; their faces betrayed no emotion, but inwardly, they scornfully sneered.

"Good one, Jin Ye, I’ve seen shameless, but I’ve never seen anyone as shameless as you!"

Jin Ye’s intent was clear to everyone present. No matter where, underground forces needed an industry to support the economy, like the Sword and Blade Shanhe created by the City of Bright Moon in the United District. The name might sound fantastical with a kung fu vibe, but it was actually just a shop selling cold weapons, its only difference from before the Apocalypse being that these shops had armies beneath them.

However, these armies were private and not intended to serve the public, hence they were underground forces. Simply put, they were the mafia of the Apocalypse era.

An economy is one of the necessities for an underground force’s development or survival. Thus, every underground force had its industry. Of course, the strength of a force’s members also had to be formidable; without strength, how could they protect their wealth?

Yet, in every era, the strong are scarce and not easily found, leading many small underground forces without sufficiently powerful figures to be swallowed by bigger fish.

But the Mercenary Guild was different. It could easily register the identities of those strong ones who didn’t wish to join the underground forces. Not to mention their strength, these strong ones could earn quite a lot of Yajin through the Mercenary Guild alone!

Such temptation was incomparable to what other underground forces could offer.
