Chapter 928: Chapter 924: The True Ruler
"Nothing to do, huh?"
"Of course," the woman’s beautiful eyes blinked playfully, revealing a mischievousness.
"What’s your name?"
"Huansha, surname Yi, Yi Huansha."
"Oh~ Okay, Yi Huansha, I have a piece of clothing inside; try to find it for me. It seems to be in a box, the artisans made it for me when I first arrived in the United District. Speaking of which, I haven’t even worn it yet."
"Ah? Looking for clothing? Is that it?"
"Don’t you have nothing to do? Just that. Go and look for it."
"Fine," Yi Huansha couldn’t hide the disappointment in her eyes; she entered the Snow Moon Pavilion lacklusterly. Before leaving, she muttered under her breath, "What a blockhead, such a big fool!"
Her muttering, of course, didn’t escape Tang Ye’s ears, but he just smiled. He saw no need to stand on ceremony and argue with her over the little complaint.
After Yi Huansha entered the Snow Moon Pavilion, Tang Ye took out his cellphone and dialed a number. The phone rang a long time until, finally, only a cold, mechanical voice came through, "Sorry, the number you’re trying to reach is unavailable..."
"Strange, where has Hatred gone that he isn’t answering his phone?"
Tang Ye thought for a moment, then dialed Bai Huipeng’s number, but again, there was no answer.
In the end, Tang Ye could only call Xu Changchi, but this time the call went through.
"Hello, President."
"How are things on your end now?"
Xu Changchi on the other end paused for a moment, then spoke, "President, was it your order to retreat?"
"Yes."
"Following your command, all Level 4 and below neo-humans have been completely evacuated."
"Were you in charge?"
"Yes, the person you entrusted couldn’t find Huipeng, so they notified me."
"Good, where have you arranged for them to go?"
"Except for the elite armed units, the rest have all left the Central United District."
"All right, now bring the remaining units to the Snow Moon Pavilion. Make sure everything else is arranged, and that you allow the mercenaries from the mercenary guild to enter the Central United District smoothly. Then, you must lead them all into the Snow Moon Pavilion here. I’ll wait for them to arrive. As for the staff at the Peace Plaza and other buildings, have them all leave their work areas to ensure there are no Peace Party members in those places."
"Understood, I will arrange it quickly."
"Also, if you see Hatred and Bai Huipeng, tell them to hurry to the Snow Moon Pavilion as well, especially Hatred. Tell him not to be impulsive; those strong ones from the mercenary guild are not simple and aren’t something he can deal with alone."
"Yes!"
Xu Changchi nodded on the other end and then hung up the phone.
Tang Ye put the cellphone back in his pocket; at that moment, Yi Huansha’s voice came from inside the Snow Moon Pavilion.
"Marshal, is the garment you’re talking about inside here? It’s so heavy, there must be one piece of clothing inside, probably the one you mentioned."
Upon hearing this, Tang Ye turned his head to look inside the pavilion, only to see Yi Huansha laboriously carrying a trunk downstairs.
Yet Tang Ye did not show the slightest intention of helping; instead, he said, "Don’t bring it over here, carry it to the Pine Smoke Hall."
"Ah?"
A cry of dismay came from Yi Huansha; the garment in the trunk was woven from H-steel fiber, far heavier than any ordinary clothing.
Watching Yi Huansha collapse kneeling on the ground, Tang Ye shook his head in silence, stepped forward to pick up the trunk, and muttered, "The Marshal must also look the part."
Inside the trunk was the uniform of the highest ruler of the United District, the Marshal’s uniform!
As Tang Ye came in carrying the trunk, heading towards the Pine Smoke Hall, Yi Huansha quickly stood up and said to Tang Ye, "Marshal, do you need me to help you change?"
Tang Ye paused, then after pondering for a moment, he nodded and said, "Sure, come with me."
He pushed open the heavy metal door, anachronistic in its surroundings, revealing everything within. Dark golden pillars stood tall, supporting the grand hall, inscribed with lifelike, coiling dragons that seemed ready to spring to life at any moment.
The dome above was fitted with a huge glass piece that glimmered golden in the sunlight, while the ancient style surrounding it provoked a sense of solemn wonder in those who stood there.
At the front of the hall, at the highest elevation yet centrally located, laid a three-meter long majestic dragon throne.
Though the Pine Smoke Hall was decorated in the style of an ancient palace and refined in its furnishings, transporting one back to the empire of a thousand years past, it was nonetheless a post-apocalyptic reconstruction. If one paid attention to the surroundings, they would notice modern or pre-Apocalypse devices and entertainment items.
Right next to Tang Ye was a full-length oversized mirror reflecting his image.
He stood before the mirror, removing his outer garment, while Yi Huansha watched intently, her voice dripping with sweetness, "Marshal, let me help you change."
Tang Ye simply glanced at her and nodded, without saying a word.
Then, facing Yi Huansha who smiled as she opened the trunk and took out the inner garment, shaking it out, she said, "It’s really heavy."
Speaking, she approached and took off Tang Ye’s inner clothing, fitting each new garment from the trunk onto him, one piece at a time.
Time elapsed as Yi Huansha carefully pinned the last emblem onto Tang Ye’s chest and draped the heavy black fur over him, finally completing the process of dressing him.
Tang Ye dusted off nonexistent dust from the golden shoulder board and looked at his reflection in the mirror. Dressed in the Marshal’s uniform, he appeared reborn with a sharp military bearing. The golden embroidery on the uniform added to his noble aura.
In this moment, Tang Ye truly seemed the supreme ruler of the United District.
Yi Huansha’s eyes sparkled as she gazed at the man in military attire; no girl could resist such a sight.
"Marshal, do you need me to do anything else, like..."
She trailed off seductively; the unspoken suggestion clear to anyone of sound mind.
But before Tang Ye could respond, several squads of the Dead Knight Corps entered the Pine Smoke Hall, riding their zombie beasts.
"Marshal!"
Upon seeing Tang Ye, the knights of the Dead Knight Corps called out in unison; their voices were deep and powerful, tinged with an imperceptible intent to kill and a heavy aura of doom.
Tang Ye did not respond to Yi Huansha. He took the last item from the trunk, which had been lying there quietly—a Marshal’s hat embroidered with golden thread and authority—and placed it on his head. With most of his face shrouded in shadow, he turned and walked up to the platform, sitting down on the dragon throne with a commanding presence.
