Chapter 903: Chapter 899: Waiting for 369
The additional two stripes on the badge on the chest of Peace Party members represent their loyalty to the Peace Party, and before the Apocalypse, it was a world where there was no need for pretense or flattery. There was no need to talk about one’s worldview, no dissatisfaction with nepotism, and no need to abide by any morality. The Apocalypse was just that bare.
For those in power, loyalty is what they desire most, regardless of one’s abilities. Even if your abilities are poor, as long as your loyalty is shown, you can have everything!
Those in power are not lacking people with abilities; what they lack most are people they can trust!
Those who have abilities but no loyalty are like time bombs, a ticking danger that always threatens to explode when held in one’s hands!
Everyone who joins the Peace Party knows that the first thing after joining is to undergo a month-long totalitarian political training. This training makes some of the weaker individuals start to band together, igniting their sense of belonging to the team.
There are too many weak individuals in this world, but if all these weaklings band together, it forms a terrifying force. And these weaklings aren’t necessarily always weak; they might become strong one day and protect the other weaklings.
Moreover, not all those who choose to join the Peace Party are weak. In their training, some people might never catch the eye, but there will always be some who are moved.
A month-long training seems short, but often it doesn’t take a full month to complete. It can be as quick as four or five days, or a little over ten days. During such training, they continuously make sure that the members understand what a team is, what faith is.
Especially in the Apocalypse, some people with beliefs are very frightening, especially when their belief is in their own organization, knowing there are like-minded and similarly goal-oriented people in the organization!
Under such training, many who join the Peace Party begin to develop an obsession with it. They are no longer empty-handed but see the Peace Party as their everything!
The direction of the organization’s development becomes their life goal, thoroughly brainwashed!
These people are the fanatics of the Peace Party!
It is such individuals, after being clearly inspected by the upper echelons of the Peace Party, who carry a Peace Party badge that stands out with two additional stripes from the others.
"Damn it, why is it a Hybrid Deer-Dog," he muttered under his breath. In the Peace Party, they feared these kinds of individuals!
Although these individuals are of the same rank as himself and his peers, they enjoy twice the resources and have more say. Besides this, the Peace Party members with two stripes on their badges can also discipline those who slander or jest about the Peace Party behind its back.
Their existence is akin to members of the disciplinary team in the army before the Apocalypse, carrying a tiny blue book and making rounds, despised by countless soldiers!
The reason they are called Hybrid Deer-Dogs is that, in the Apocalypse, there is an evolved creature known as the Hybrid Deer-Dog. The Hybrid Deer-Dog wasn’t originally called that; it’s a creature that looks like a deer but also like a kangaroo, seemingly a crossbreed of two species.
Anti-life matter has changed too many things, and scientists who study it are not clear whether anti-life matter has broken the reproductive barriers between species.
Initially, people called it a mutant deer, but as the Apocalypse went on, through their encounters, people discovered that these mutant deer were easy to train, very intelligent, and physically robust. The evolved Hybrid Deer-Dogs could even help humans transport goods.
Some people even began to domesticate Hybrid Deer-Dogs as pets due to these traits, making them humanity’s second-best friend after dogs.
That’s how the name Hybrid Deer-Dog came about.
Hybrid Deer-Dogs have a strong ability to learn. Although they can’t master the complex operations of the old and new human species, they outperform dogs significantly. As long as one is willing to teach, Hybrid Deer-Dogs can learn—except for machinery, of course.
Once trained, humans can make Hybrid Deer-Dogs do whatever they want, a trait very much like the fanatics of the Peace Party. Thus, many people use the term Hybrid Deer-Dog to refer to them.
When he uttered these words, his voice was very low, but he did not know whether those little murmurs would be overheard by the Hybrid Deer-Dogs. However, it no longer mattered; they had already seen his suspicious and improper demeanor earlier, and discipline was unavoidable...
Just as he suspected, the situation turned out to be even worse than anticipated. Every minute, every second was an ordeal. Finally, time was up, and no one "gently" patted his shoulder or said the "tender" words, "Comrade, turn around."
There was nothing, and what welcomed him was the palm-sized rear stock of a laser weapon!
Bang!
With a muffled sound, the soldier’s facial expression hadn’t even changed when he was smashed to the ground by a force!
"What did you just say?"
A Peace Party soldier grabbed his collar and hauled him up, roaring fiercely with a distorted face. Before waiting for an answer, his hand "smack smack" delivered two slaps!
This scene made a few comrades nearby pulse with veins bulging on their foreheads, their eyes flashing with anger.
A Level 3 New Human couldn’t stand it anymore. They had just been joking and laughing with the soldier who was struck, and they usually had a good relationship—how could they just watch this happen?
"Why are you hitting him? What did he do?"
With that, a surge of blood rose up, pressing against all the Peace Party soldiers with those two stripes on their badges.
"What, you want to fight?" Suddenly, another voice spoke up, filled with malice.
The aura he had exuded didn’t last long before an even more powerful surge of blood rose.
Thump thump!
Two striking sounds followed, and the Level 3 New Human was pushed away four or five meters. He raised his head in shock.
Before him, another soldier was watching him coldly, with blood emanating powerfully, unmistakably a Level 4 New Human. Seeing this, he had no choice but to bow to reality. There were too many strong figures in the Peace Party, and even though he was one of them, where there are people, there are earthly disputes. The strong are always plentiful, and are always ranked and divided.
Without a word, he stood up and with his head lowered, walked back to his original place. He bowed to the few Peace Party soldiers with the two stripes on their badges and said, "I’m sorry!"
The others could only watch from the side. The strongest among them couldn’t intervene—so what about them?
The Level 3 New Human’s apology prevented the others from continuing to strike him. Their gazes moved away from him, settling on the one who had been hit.
The Level 4 New Human walked over, looking down at him.
"Raise your head, look at me."
