I am the Zombie King of the Apocalyptic World -
Chapter 813 - 810: Walking with the Dead
Chapter 813: Chapter 810: Walking with the Dead
A loud crash echoed as Liao Chunsheng’s laser weapon shot past Bai Huipeng, striking the mirror behind him. In an instant, the mirror shattered noisily, sending glass shards flying everywhere.
Realizing the situation was dire, Liao Chunsheng quickly stood up from his chair. His laser weapon then swept towards Bai Huipeng, but his opponent was too fast. After a series of movements, Bai Huipeng had inexplicably appeared beside him.
"It’s all over!"
"No..."
Liao Chunsheng cried out instinctively, but after uttering just one word, a line of blood sprayed from his neck.
Splash!
A knife slit Liao Chunsheng’s throat, blood spraying wildly, and then quickly, the dagger was pulled out and thrust towards his vital organs!
His flesh torn by the sharp H steel dagger, it plunged straight into his heart, stirred around a few times, and Liao Chunsheng’s breath stopped, ending his life.
The body of the now-deceased Liao Chunsheng went limp and fell to the floor, but he was quickly hoisted by the hair by Bai Huipeng, who then picked up the walkie-talkie and said, "Report, mission accomplished, Liao Chunsheng is dead."
Elsewhere, Xu Haishui peeked out from one of the trucks in the Second Team upon hearing his voice.
The First Team drove off, and the Second Team would soon form a straight convoy with their rear facing Hongtu Mountain. Xu Haishui jumped down from the truck and looked towards the opposing side, a smile appearing on his face.
"Release!"
The Peace Party soldiers didn’t hesitate, and following that order, they stepped big strides off the trucks they were responsible for. Countless zombies emerged, one high-level zombie after another revealing their massive shapes.
"Liao Chunsheng is dead, are you sure you still want to resist?"
The soldiers at Hongtu Mountain had just gathered their spirits to face the next human-induced tide of zombies when Xu Haishui’s cold voice almost made them collapse. At the same time, for some reason, they felt a great sense of relief in their hearts.
The soldiers looked at each other, wondering. Although Xu Haishui didn’t use a loudspeaker, his voice reached everyone loud and clear.
But no one dared to be sure that what he said was true.
"You’re full of it, our curator is still in there, how could he possibly be dead!"
A high-level newcomer retorted loudly.
"Don’t believe me? Then send someone to check," Xu Haishui continued, his face smirking mockingly.
The released zombies roared and charged forward. Quickly, it seemed as if some unknown force was controlling them. After running a few steps, their frenzied pace suddenly slowed, and they began clawing the air and bellowing towards Hongtu Mountain.
The speaking high-level newcomer hesitated, signalling with his eyes to some soldiers not far away. Understanding the cue, they quickly shouldered their weapons and rushed towards the command center.
However, this soldier did not return. Instead, a very unfamiliar person appeared, his hand holding a body drenched in blood.
"No need to doubt anymore, this is Liao Chunsheng’s body!"
"And you are..."
"Who I am is not important. What’s important is Liao Chunsheng is dead. Do you still intend to resist? If you wish to continue, I don’t mind killing a few more people."
Bai Huipeng’s voice penetrated the ears of every Hongtu Mountain soldier, causing them to freeze in shock, standing bewildered in their spots, while the higher-ups were equally clueless.
It was too sudden, just too sudden—how could Liao Chunsheng be dead?
The morale of Hongtu Mountain soldiers had been crushed to the lowest point; they all stared at their commanders. With their leader dead, what was the point of fighting anymore?
Feeling the gaze of countless eyes upon them, these high-ranking officers didn’t know what to do either, hesitating indecisively.
However, the Peace Party had no intention of waiting during their moment of hesitation. As they dithered, Xu Haishui waved his hand, and the zombie horde he led began to advance.
"Let’s go!"
Yang Xiao shouted, and the zombie horde, as if they understood his command, miraculously parted, clearing a spacious path for the Peace Party soldiers.
One by one, the massive Level 5 zombies stretched out their thick arms and let out a thunderous roar to the sky.
Peace Party soldiers stepped out of the ranks as well, marching towards Hongtu Mountain with guns in hand. The exoskeleton armor they were equipped with began to cover them like countless dominoes falling into place, a magnificent sight to behold.
As the all-encompassing combat helmets connected with the armor, the pale blue visor shimmered under the sunlight’s rays, carrying a heart-palpitating chill.
Surrounded by tens of thousands of zombies, at that moment, every Peace Party soldier felt a surge of pride.
So this was what it felt like to fight alongside zombies.
"Surrender and be spared!"
Xu Haishui’s voice continued to spread, and finally, some Hongtu Mountain soldiers couldn’t withstand the pressure any longer. They threw down their weapons, removed their mobile armor, and knelt down.
The commanders’ shouts rang out at this time, but as soon as they had finished shouting, they regretted it. Their voices not only failed to have any effect; they actually exacerbated the situation. Seeing someone take the lead, more and more Hongtu Mountain soldiers discarded their weapons and chose to surrender. Even high-ranking officers of the same status as themselves lowered their heads, silently walking out from their defensive positions to kneel beside the soldiers on the ground.
"This... you all..."
The officer panicked. Suddenly, he saw Bai Huipeng’s smile as he threw aside the corpse of Liao Chun and strode towards him.
"Don’t you come any closer!"
But no one listened to him. The soldiers under his command watched indifferently as Bai Huipeng approached. The officer realized what was happening the next second and tried to flee. The tide had turned; everyone wanted to save their own life—why would they sacrifice it for his loyalty?
However, he had not run far when something suddenly wrapped around his ankle. Then, a tremendous force yanked him back. He felt his balance destabilize, and as he was dragged backward, he turned and saw Bai Huipeng’s face, demonic in its expression.
"No... please! I was wrong... spare me..."
"Dream on!"
Bai Huipeng pulled the lasso, dragging the man in front of him, and with a cold snort, he plunged a dagger into the other’s neck. With a light twist, the man was dead on the spot.
By now, more and more Hongtu Mountain soldiers had thrown down their weapons, and gradually, those in the mech suits also stepped out with heads bowed, crouching on the ground, waiting for orders. Before long, all soldiers ceased resistance, awaiting the approaching zombie horde.
Yet as they watched the terrifying zombies among the horde, they were still somewhat fearful. Who knew what sorcery the Peace Party used to make these zombies obey? If they lost control, and just by poor luck you were devoured alive, then what?
There was no other way; in people’s hearts, zombies were a bloodthirsty, brutal species devoid of any rational intelligence or thinking capability, an entity unworthy of trust for peaceful coexistence with the living.
