I am the Zombie King of the Apocalyptic World
Chapter 70 - 67: The Background of Ning Yu’er_1

Chapter 70: Chapter 67: The Background of Ning Yu’er_1

Upon entering the dormitory building, Tang Ye felt as though he was walking into his own home. He took off the black vest he was wearing, put on a coat from the balcony of a dorm room, and neatly placed the vest into a closet.

This scene was witnessed by Chen Chaoyang who found it quite peculiar.

A zombie that could fold clothes...

Following Tang Ye, he was not sure what to say and did not dare to interrupt his actions. He could only patiently wait for Tang Ye to finish while fidgeting with his hands, feeling very uneasy.

When he came in, he looked around and didn’t find Ning Yu’er anywhere, which left him wondering where she might have gone. As for trouble, he had never even considered it. With this demon around, what could possibly go wrong?

Several people, including Chu Yupeng, who had offended Ning Yu’er before, witnessed Chu Yupeng being torn in half. It was a gruesome sight with severed limbs and other body parts scattered around.

After completed all these errands, Tang Ye left the dorm room and sat on a stone bench in the yard. His white eyes, terrifying in their appearance, glanced at Chen Chaoyang and said, "I can only help you this far. As for whether you have ever helped Yu’er, I neither want to know nor do I care. Consider this a return of favor for rescuing you."

"Ah, okay," responded Chen Chaoyang. His eyes, however, were fixed on the large bag of food in Tang Ye’s dormitory room, seemingly exuding a green glow!

"Um... could you share some of that food with me? I have been starving for several days now," said Chen Chaoyang awkwardly, scratching his head.

Tang Ye nodded, indicating his agreement. After all, he was a zombie and couldn’t eat human food. It would be a waste to just leave it there; he might as well give it to Chen Chaoyang.

Seeing Tang Ye nodding, Chen Chaoyang was overjoyed. He immediately took out all the food bags and started eating voraciously, savoring every mouthful.

The potato chips tasted incredibly good!

With his mouth full of food, Chen Chaoyang finally asked the question that had been bothering him, "Zombie Big Brother, where did Ning Yu’er go? Why don’t I see her?"

Tang Ye glanced at him and replied, somewhat annoyed, "I sent her to the safe zone!"

"What!" Chen Chaoyang exclaimed in surprise. Although his eyes were filled with envy, he felt relieved that at least some were living a better life in Lin City’s safe zone, considering he had to risk his life just to find tiny amounts of edible food.

Upon this realization, he was willing to go through any lengths to seek Tang Ye’s help – even if it meant becoming a woman...

Chen Chaoyang looked earnestly at Tang Ye and said, "If you really sent her to the safe zone, could you take me there too?"

"Why should I? Hehe..."

"I can provide you with what you want!"

"Oh? Really?" Tang Ye said disdainfully. The idea of going out of his way to escort Chen Chaoyang to the safe zone was absurd to him.

"I guess you want the things in zombie brains, right? If so, I have many!"

"Hmm?" Tang Ye’s eyes flickered. He looked at Chen Chaoyang seriously, not completely trusting him. He questioned how a normal human like Chen Chaoyang could possibly have a hoard of evolution crystals, which are believed to be in the brains of Level 1 zombies.

He found it hard to believe that an ordinary person like Chen Chaoyang was capable of killing even a single zombie, let alone hunting a Level 1 or above evolutionary zombie.

Seeing the skepticism on Tang Ye’s face, Chen Chaoyang hurriedly explained, "I don’t have any right now, but my father does! He’s the second-in-command at Hua City Qinshan Base. Before the apocalypse, he was a colonel on the South China Military Region staff. Now, he’s a Level 1 New Human! He should have lots of evolution crystals!"

"New Human? What’s that?" inquired a puzzled Tang Ye. This was a new term to him.

"New Humans are evolved humans who are immune to the zombie virus. Their strength, speed, and physical burst are far superior to ordinary people!" Chen Chaoyang explained.

"So, the evolution crystal is the one in the brain of a zombie?"

"Yes, it’s the thing that you want!"

Tang Ye nodded and continued with his questions, "How do you know about all these things?"

"Didn’t I charge my phone the day before yesterday? I used the satellite phone to tell my dad that I was safe. He told me about all this. As long as you, Zombie Big Brother, escort me to the safe zone, those evolution crystals can be all yours," promised Chen Chaoyang.

Tang Ye chuckled. His smile widened, revealing sharp triangular teeth that scared Chen Chaoyang, causing his heart to beat rapidly and sweat to pour down his forehead. The reason behind Tang Ye’s laughter was obscure. Because of this, Chen Chaoyang’s fear grew stronger, and he was terrified that Tang Ye might suddenly devour him.

As for Tang Ye, he couldn’t care less about the veracity of Chen Chaoyang’s claims. He knew that anyone able to attend Honglin High School before the apocalypse must have an extraordinary background. Therefore, he believed that at least a portion of Chen Chaoyang’s words were true. However, he had no faith in Chen Chaoyang’s ability to fulfill these promises.

He would not risk his life to escort Chen Chaoyang to the safe zone, banking on the latter’s word to fulfill his promise. If he were to do something that naive, Tang Ye figured he might as well remove his brain and transform fully into a zombie.

Despite being doubtful about Chen Chaoyang’s "empty promise," he decided to play along.

"Do you have the evolution crystal of a Level 3 zombie?" Tang Ye asked, a chill in his voice.

The question left Chen Chaoyang dumbfounded for a moment, thinking carefully about Tang Ye’s words. Eventually, he shook his head and confess, "Um... I don’t know if we have those. Currently, the highest level of evolutionary zombies is only Level 2, and the Level 3 zombies have not yet appeared. However, Big Brother, rest assured. As long as I return to my father, I will bring you any Level 3 zombie evolution crystals that we have."

At this point, Tang Ye fell silent, as if he was lost in thought. It was only after a while that he spoke again.

"What’s your name?" he asked.

"Huh?" Chen Chaoyang was taken aback, not understanding why Tang Ye was asking him that. Nevertheless, he replied honestly, "I’m Chen Chaoyang."

"Oh." Tang Ye fell silent again, likely formulating his thoughts.

"Do you know Ning Yu’er’s background?" he asked.

"Ning Yu’er? I heard her father is the Deputy General Manager of Chenhua Gene Technology. Wait... her father is now the direct administrator of Lin City safe zone. He’s also a Level 2 New Human!" Chen Chaoyang suddenly exclaimed as he realized something.

Upon hearing Chen Chaoyang’s answer, Tang Ye furrowed his brow. He suddenly recalled a middle-aged man he had encountered not long ago. Tang Ye hadn’t noticed what he looked like, but the man had single-handedly killed thousands of zombies on the sports field. His strength must be at Level 2 at least, despite the aid of his mysterious mech suit.

But why would a Level 2 New Human come to Honglin Campus for no reason? Just to kill zombies? Even the busiest people in the world wouldn’t have time for that, would they?
