I am the Zombie King of the Apocalyptic World
Chapter 484 - 481: The Destroyed Lin City_1

Chapter 484: Chapter 481: The Destroyed Lin City_1

In the crowd of over a thousand people, having two Level 3 New Humans was already tremendous. Provided they remained cautious, they could still survive in relative safety at this point during the apocalypse.

The reason they feared the car gang was that those outlaws were armed with guns. Even Level 3 New Humans, being human and not Level 3 zombies, couldn’t withstand a bullet!

If luck weren’t in favor, and a bullet hits a vital part, it would be a tragedy in waiting. Despite their numbers being in the thousands, they didn’t possess a single gun, making a clash with the car gang potentially catastrophic.

Qiongli had also considered this issue, but she honestly didn’t know if her conscience could bear leaving so many lives behind.

She looked at Brother Zhang, and he was looking back at her. Setting foot on this path meant choosing the point of no return. The mysterious person who posted the notice said the zombies of Lin City had already moved out, but they didn’t mention where the zombies had gone!

If millions of zombies had vacated Lin City, there was a considerable risk of running straight into them!

She could use force to intimidate many people, but she couldn’t threaten Brother Zhang. He had blood on his hands, and she could not expect him to show mercy. In a one-on-one confrontation, her chances of winning were slim, being a woman.

Qiongli didn’t know what to say in response to Brother Zhang’s question. The journey of over 1,000 kilometers could hold any number of dangers.

She had considered first going to Qinshan Base and settling everyone there, but she couldn’t guarantee that the situation at the survivor base would be exactly as her husband had described.

If that were the case, it would be better to leave these elderly people behind here.

Brother Zhang drew nearer with a sinister glint in his eyes.

Qiongli, being close to thirty years old and a Lan Ou European, had a fiery allure that could stir countless male fantasies. Seeing his chance, a dirty idea emerged in Brother Zhang’s mind.

A child, about ten years old not far from Qiongli, noticed Brother Zhang’s unusual behavior. Seeing the glinting blade in his hand, fear flickered in the child’s eyes.

"Aun...Aunt Qiongli."

"What’s wrong?"

The child tugged at Qiongli’s sleeve, instinctively she looked at him, and then at where the child was pointing. Understanding the meaning in Brother Zhang’s eyes, she had seen that look too many times before.

"What are you planning to do?" She demanded to know, drawing the military tri-dagger from her waistband.

Brother Zhang flashed a sinister smile, brandishing his knife. "What do I want? Who are you, a woman, to tell us what to do! How dare you? Either ditch this garbage, or I’ll ** cut your limbs."

"I know you’re a good person, but what I’m doing is for everyone too. These old farts won’t live much longer. Why keep them around? A bunch of old timers, should we risk our lives, the younger ones, for them? Think about it. Since yesterday, how much trouble have these old folks caused us?"

Brother Zhang approached step by step. Qiongli glanced hopelessly at the crowd. The faces that met hers bowed their heads, unable to meet her eyes.

Who wouldn’t be reluctant to lug around such dead weight?

From the moment they left the shelter, many people’s hearts had already changed. Only Qiongli still held on to her kindness.

"You..."

Qiongli felt anger welling up, wanting to vent but not knowing how.

Suddenly, she spotted a dark speck trailing smoke in the sky on the horizon heading toward Lin City. A single word struck her.

Nuclear bomb!

"Fauk You!"

Instinctively cursing, Qiongli shouted at the crowd, "Run!"

Brother Zhang was startled but saw the black dot in the sky. His heart pounded as he cried, "Holy shit, it’s real!"

The sight petrified everyone. They saw the black speck moving at an incredibly fast speed, immediately bringing to mind a nuclear strike.

Nuclear weapons are mankind’s ultimate weapons, aptly described as earth-shattering. Though no one had seen the aftermath of a nuclear explosion, representations in various movie productions left deep impressions.

How terrifying a nuclear explosion would be, no one knew nor wished to know from firsthand experience!

They sprinted towards the round platform on the horizon, which towered like a sanctuary while seemingly near, no matter how they ran, they felt as though they were running in place, not getting any closer to it.

In their panic, they didn’t have time to grab their belongings and started running after Qiongli. No one paid any attention to the elderly or children.

The children cried as the elderly struggled to their feet to run.

"Hurry up! If you can run, run!"

Qiongli took a deep breath, picking up three children as she sprinted, occasionally turning back to yell at the crowd!

Chaos ensued as everyone fended for themselves, running helter-skelter. From afar, it looked like a group of zombies chasing after live humans.

But no matter how fast they ran, they wouldn’t beat the speed at which the bomb was dropping. Once the black dot disappeared over Lin City, Qiongli and most of the crowd instinctively looked back.

In that moment, they saw another luminous sphere rising slowly from Lin City, with the light growing brighter and more blinding, like a second sun appearing between heaven and earth!

"Ah!"

Many screams reverberated as the dazzling light blinded them!

"Shut your eyes!"

Qiongli reminded the crowd, but within a second, she felt the air around her growing hotter and hotter!

"Oh fuck!"

Brother Zhang cried out in shock, disregarding everything he dropped everything and ran at the top speed of a Level 3 New Human and soon left even Qiongli far behind.

Boom!

With a deafening explosion, it felt like their eardrums had ruptured, leaving only a buzzing sound in their ears.

As a Level 3 New Human, Qiongli also experienced an unprecedented level of pain. She had managed to shut her eyes in time, but her ears had no protection against the explosion. The sound left her thoughts in disarray.

The others fared worse, unable to hear anything, and when opening their eyes, the world was painted red, with outlines being the only measure of the world around them.

The surroundings were still heating up. Qiongli glanced back again and saw the mushroom cloud rising with dust lifted hundreds of meters into the air mixed with scorching air. It swept through Lin City, vaporizing the buildings, then spread out circularly!

"The shockwave from the explosion!"

She knew what it was. They had already left Lin City by then, and though there was a significant distance between their location and Lin City, she wasn’t sure if they were within range of the nuclear attack. Judging by the force of the shockwave, no matter how fast they ran, they wouldn’t escape it. However, considering the distance, many people would likely have a chance to survive.

"Everyone, hit the deck! Stop running!"
