Chapter 346: Chapter 343 Must Obtain_1

At Xu Haishui’s words, everyone’s hearts jolted and they quickly dispersed, drinking and eating as they should.

Honestly, life here was great, at least a hundred times better than in the past!

Besides, joking aside, someone like Xu Haishui, who is evidently the would-be villain, taking them to a large survivor base was unthinkable. They would likely be slaughtered halfway there.

Anyone with a brain would think of this.

Unfortunately, everyone guessed wrong. If anyone said they wanted to go to a regular survivor base, Xu Haishui would indeed take them there to let them experience the brutal realities of the base.

Once the people dispersed, Xu Haishui scoffed disdainfully. If not for Tang Ye’s presence, he would’ve fed these people to the zombies already. Over two thousand people could probably breed four Level 4 zombies.

Of course, such calculation was not precise. Generally, zombies did not entirely gnaw their victims down to the bones. Zombies showed no interest in the remains after a brief period. Unless they were in large numbers capable of devouring a person completely, leaving no more than bones in a short period of time.

If estimated realistically, over two thousand people would most likely just create more than two thousand zombies, at most one to three Level 3 Zombies.

After the drone dispatched to Shiwuguan Base was destroyed, other drones were surveying the situation in different locations.

At Xunan Base, Unmanned Drone No.003 had flown for half a day, and those watching the viewpoint didn’t find any clue. The hole the previous batch of survivors had burrowed through had already collapsed, covered up by debris. Such scenes were common in other areas of Xunan Base, and didn’t strike them as odd.

What hurt however, was the disappearance of all heavy weaponry from Xunan Base, leaving only a pile of exploded, twisted metal scraps.

The construction of Xunan Base was assisted by all six bases. Every bullet, each shell, and all guns and military vehicles were contributed by the remaining six survivor bases.

Now, with nothing left, how could they not be upset?

The reason for dispatching a drone to inspect Xunan Base was primarily to recoup losses.

Only Guanglan Base had production lines for various firearms, and even a production line for W133 model desert tanks. Having these resources, Guanglan Base could be said to have an automatic blood-production function, so they didn’t mind the loss.

But for the other five bases, each destroyed weapon was a loss. They had no option to reconstruct them.

Under the disgusted gaze of the five leaders, the drone hovered around in Xunan Base before starting to return.

The five already-disappointed leaders relaxed considerably, slumping listlessly in their chairs, and suggested in an unenthusiastic tone, "Let’s check Zhiyang Lake."

Upon receiving orders, the man surnamed Liu quickly shifted the viewpoint to one of the two drones, No.009 and No.011, headed for Zhiyang Lake.

The screen flickered. The two drones were just arriving, flying side by side.

Unlike other drones, these two headed for Zhiyang Lake had a black box attached under their frames, its purpose unknown.

"No.009 and No.011, it’s your turn to perform now."

"No.009, received."

"No.011, received!"

Hearing the voices over the walkie-talkie, the man surnamed Liu nodded and said, "Prepare!"

The two drones moved forward and flew over the center of Zhiyang Lake, about twenty meters apart. After a while, there was activity underneath the drones’ undercarriages.

Creaking noises echoed.

With the sound of rotating gears, a crack opened in the middle of the black box. The panels on both sides of it slowly moved away, revealing the contents inside.

"Launch!"

At Liu’s command, cylindrical objects began falling from the boxes under the drones, their purpose unknown.

The drones then flew low over Zhiyang Lake, raining cylinders into the water. Once all the cylinders had been dropped, the drones flew to the side of the lake. They directed their high-resolution cameras at the center of Zhiyang Lake. In the nocturnal apocalypse, apart from the six dialog boxes, the entire screen was left pitch black, save for the outline of Zhiyang Lake reflected by the moonlight and starlight.

About a minute later, points of light began flashing around various locations in Zhiyang Lake. These lights were caused by the cylinders dropped into the lake. Each point was extremely prominent against the darkness, like stars in the sky.

Most of the points of light were clustered around the center of Zhiyang Lake, and their brightness was continually increasing. In no time, the cylinders reached their peak luminosity. Each point was now illuminating its surroundings, forming a ring of light.

Hundreds of light rings combined made the heart of Zhiyang Lake so bright that people could see fish, shrimp, and evolved creatures swimming in the lake.

Seemingly not finding what they expected, the six leaders began to look more dispirited, and the man surnamed Liu furrowed his brows.

As each second passed, the light from the cylinders began to fade. Just as one of the six leaders was about to give up, a massive shadow appeared in the illuminated part of the lake!

Everyone’s hearts jolted at this sight, and they sat up, wide-eyed, staring intently at the shadow.

Zhiyang Lake was vast, but the light from the cylinders only managed to illuminate a small part of it.

In this small part of the lake, the shadow moved like the gigantic beasts described in online novels, winding and coiling in the water and occasionally gobbling up a few aquatic evolved creatures.

The shadow was a hundred meters long and nearly two meters wide. Just seeing this creature, though they didn’t know what it truly looked like, reminded them of the film "Battle of the Dragons."

The film’s special effects were astounding, and now, the sight was unfolding right before them.

Everyone was stunned, even though they were only watching it on a screen. Just watching the shadow twist and turn was enough to make their hearts race.

The operators of Drones No.009 and No.011 were also rendered speechless, watching the screen in disbelief. Their hearts raced, fearful that the massive creature in the water might suddenly leap out and swallow the drones they were controlling.

This was just incredible!

Unable to describe their feelings with words, all they could use to summarize their feelings was "astonishing."

The six leaders quietly watched, their expressions back to normal, only their eyes were sparkling with excitement.

Especially Chen Huaijiang, his eyes were full of desire and greed as he watched the shadow! How big is it? What level creature could it be?

Level 4 or Level 5? Or even Level 6?

In an instant, countless thoughts flashed through Chen Huaijiang’s mind, and the light in his eyes grew brighter.

"The Evolution Crystal Core! I must have it, the sooner the better!"

Once this thought crossed his mind, the light in Chen Huaijiang’s eyes disappeared, and he took another sip of his tea, acting unassumingly.
