I am the Zombie King of the Apocalyptic World -
Chapter 344 - 341: Unrelated to the World_1
Chapter 344: Chapter 341: Unrelated to the World_1
In the quiet night sky, a solitary drone was flying, with seven individuals watching intently from its perspective, viewing the landscape passing swiftly beneath it.
The drone was expertly crafted, and the sound produced during its flight was reduced to an absolute minimum, but it wasn’t completely silent.
Its quiet "whirring" flight sound, particularly noticeable in the serene environment, occasionally attracted flying moth zombies that would quickly leave once they realized it wasn’t living.
Only the memory of food mattered to zombies. Non-edible items were quickly forgotten after a single glance. Consequently, the same zombie could be repeatedly attracted to the drone, charmed by its sound.
Grunting in bloodlust, the occasional zombie on the ground raised its hands upon hearing the noise.
Any flying moth zombie, daring to reach out and grasp at the drone that was the size of a washbasin, would quickly find itself shredded by sharp rotor blades and forced to retreat.
Finally, the drone reached the barrier isolating the zombies. At the sight of the scene below, everyone watching gasped with shock.
"What’s going on?" A middle-aged man in the viewing screen voiced his question, shared by everyone present, but nobody responded. They all sought answers, but those could only be gained by observing and waiting.
The streets below swarmed with scores of zombies, as dense as a blackened mass. But on the other side, not a single zombie hair could be spotted.
It was as if two different worlds flanked the street. The zombies appeared to be held back by an invisible barrier, with none stepping a foot across the street, retreating as soon as one reached the critical point.
The piercing noise of firework explosions in the sky would have been enough to incite a zombie uprising, but the zombies below merely roared in the direction of the noise, without any form of physical initiation.
In Lin City at night, not a single light was visible, and darkness filled as far as the eye could see. The once bustling city was now in ruins, and it was indeterminable where survivors might be. It appeared like a ghost town.
Under the drone’s night vision mode, everything appeared creepily ghastly in green.
The six individuals on the screen, while occupying high positions, were merely ordinary humans. Had their New Human underlings not revolted and outside information not leaked into their base, these four would have already been assassinated.
The drone’s perspective ventured onto the zombie-abandoned streets. Weeds grew rampant and skeletons littered the ground. The countless buildings nearby gave a sinister impression as though they were inhabited by malevolent spirits waiting to pounce on intruders.
Such an environment would instill fear in anyone.
After another five to six minutes, the drone finally flew into Shiwuguan Base’s perimeter. Upon seeing the scene within, everyone’s facial expressions turned even more bizarre.
Countless red streamers lined Shiwuguan Base, every one of them inscribed with New Year greetings. With a festive atmosphere and brightly lit surroundings starkly contrasted with the outside world, the base showed no signs of an apocalypse. It was as if it was in another world entirely.
"What ... what on earth is happening?" One of them said, dumbfounded.
"Are those zombies their doing?"
"The base at Shiwuguan... The exile of the zombies was orchestrated by these people."
Upon seeing Shiwuguan Base, everyone could surmise the base was responsible for keeping the zombies at a distance.
Slowly approaching, the noises of the drone’s rapidly rotating rotors were dim compared to the explosions and shouting. Viewers of the drone’s visual perspective paid little attention when, upon its nearest approach, a pair of eyes from a rooftop fixated on the drone.
"Let’s greet them first, don’t provoke them." Someone suggested. A strange glint flashed in their eyes. Shiwuguan Base was too mysterious, and they were eager to know how the zombies outside were chased so far away.
Only by mastering this technique could it help solve many of the problems at the bases.
"This base is called Shiwuguan... What a fitting name. Unconcerned with the world... Is that possible?"
Some of the belligerent leaders smirked wickedly at the sight of the base. The bases they managed were short of supplies, and the coming of winter, rendered more horrendous than before by the apocalypse, made them understand the ancient prediction of the winter disaster.
Almost every day, numerous survivors would freeze to death. This was something they hadn’t anticipated. Without satellites, humanity was blind and clueless to the state of the Earth.
Devoid of human harm, and with the aid of anti-life matter, Earth recovered rapidly. In just two years, the ozone layer was nearly fully restored. There was no more greenhouse effect, and the terror of winter returned to its harshness from many years ago.
"How many people are in the base?"
"Let’s try to estimate it."
A stream of data began to appear on the drone’s perspective screen. Red frames lingered on each of the base’s survivors while numbers quickly rose to 1638, and still increasing.
Tang Ye, on the rooftop, spotted a discrete red dot in the night sky and called over Zhou Ranjun.
"Boss, what is it?"
"Do you see that red dot?" Tang Ye pointed listlessly towards the drone.
Zhou Ranjun looked confusedly for a while. If not for Tang Ye’s point-out, he wouldn’t have noticed it. Even now, seeing it, he was unaware of its significance.
"I see it." He nodded.
"Go, bring it down. We are being spied on."
Upon hearing this, Zhou Ranjun’s body stiffened. He nodded and ran downstairs to grab a gun.
The drone hovered mid-air for a while and once numbers jumped to 2240, the Liu-surnamed man finally spoke.
"There are about two thousand five hundred people."
The six individuals on screen nodded, one of them saying, "Let’s get their attention first, don’t let them c..."
Before the sentence was complete, a loud bang was heard. The drone swayed violently, followed by several gunshot sounds.
The drone’s visual perspective on the viewer’s screen instantly dissipated into static, leaving the viewers slack-jawed.
"What is...."
Everything happened so suddenly that the viewers couldn’t react in time. Unable to control the drone anymore, their screens were now filled with static. A hint of anger began to rise in their hearts.
They hadn’t expected Shiwuguan Base to shoot down the drone so directly. Plans of contact with Shiwuguan Base, held by several people, were instantly foiled.
"Damn it!"
A middle-aged man with a striking resemblance to Chen Chaoyang thundered angrily. The man was none other than Chen Chaoyang’s father, Chen Huaijiang.
