I am the Zombie King of the Apocalyptic World

Chapter 279: Chapter 277 Cruelty and Gentleness_1

As he flew to a villa, Tang Ye reverted back to his original form. Landing firmly on a patch of grass, he took a pair of pants from a nearby rack. An assortment of clothes sunbathed there - all collected by Tang Ye in his spare time to avoid the shame of running out of clothes after transformation.

With the pants on, Tang Ye pushed the door open and went inside. There was nothing, and Ah Fu and Nannan were gone too.

The strange thing was, zombies seemed to possess memories, albeit very vague. They’re not like Tang Ye, a zombie that still retained human cognition.

Take Ah Fu, for instance. When he first rescued Nannan, Ah Fu often showed a bloodlust for Nannan. If not for Tang Ye’s interference, little Nannan probably would have ended up as Ah Fu’s dinner long ago. Yet over time, Ah Fu seemed to lose such sentiments for Nannan.

Even in Tang Ye’s absence, Ah Fu would not attack Nannan. Now, it even seemed to have developed a friendship with her. This perplexed Tang Ye. Can zombies befriend humans?

Without dwelling much on it, Tang Ye went outside, finding no trace of Ah Fu and Nannan, who seemed to have already left for some time. He wasn’t worried about Nannan’s safety. With Ah Fu around, unless they encountered a level 4 zombie, trouble was unlikely.

Moreover, until now, Tang Ye hadn’t seen a level 4 zombie. Well, except for that pseudo-dragon in Zhiyang Lake.

His wings stretched out once more, but Tang Ye didn’t enlarge his form this time. His wings spanned four to five meters in width, not too big. With one flap, he shot up into the sky.

But, the speed seemed a little slow...

So, he enlarged his wings until they expanded to fifteen meters. Shooting forward, he saw the streets receding into the distance at an unbelievable speed!

Surprised, Tang Ye hadn’t expected such speed after ascending to Level 5!

If this flight speed were translated to ground speed, it would be almost as fast as teleportation!

The powerful wind blew his hair backwards. In less than half a minute, Tang Ye arrived at the place where he had tossed his clothes earlier. He put on his windbreaker and mask, wrapping himself up tightly.

Then he set off to find Ah Fu.

Finding Ah Fu wasn’t difficult, due to their connection. Soon, he located it in front of a tall building. Ah Fu was crawling on all fours with Nannan perched on its neck. Ah Fu bore a fierce face and looked up at the survivors who peeked down from the building.

They stared back, leaving Tang Ye to wonder why Ah Fu did not just attack. Normally, with its massive build and strength, it would have no trouble charging in. But instead, it just stared. Tang Ye knew that Ah Fu’s restraint had nothing to do with Nannan. It was because the stairs in front had been blown apart, making it impossible for Ah Fu’s bulk to climb.

As a Level 3 zombie, Ah Fu did have some intelligence, although not at a high level. As much as a wild beast, perhaps.

As for Nannan, hadn’t she witnessed Ah Fu killing survivors during these past days?

Seeing Tang Ye approach, Ah Fu turned away from the survivors above and lumbered over with a wagging tail, obediently standing by Tang Ye’s side.

"Let’s go."

With one glance at the stunned survivors above, Tang Ye smoothly mounted Ah Fu, teased Nannan for a bit, and headed towards the gathering place.

Compared to Tang Ye’s flight speed, Ah Fu’s forward momentum was unbearably slow. Yet Tang Ye wasn’t in a rush and he leisurely reached the outskirts of the gathering area without going in closely.

Holding Nannan, Tang Ye jumped down and headed towards the gathering area. Ah Fu lurked in hiding.

As Tang Ye approached with a three or four-year-old girl in his arms, the people at the entrance looked at him with initial confusion, but then quickly came over to welcome him.

"Brother Nian, you’re back. You were gone all day, everyone was worrying about you."

Tang Ye nodded without reply. But the others didn’t mind and continued to crowd around him as they entered the gathering area.

Eventually, curiosity got the better of one of them and he asked, glancing at NanNan in Tang Ye’s arms, "Brother Nian, who is she?"

"My daughter." Tang Ye replied nonchalantly. Hearing this, the man blanked before feeling a sense of absurdity.

You, of all people, have a daughter?

He remembered how Tang Ye would casually chop off the limbs of dozens of people and leave them outdoors. It sent a chill down his spine.

The Brother Nian before him was mercurial and murdered at a whim. Any resistance encountered was met with not just retaliation, but also dismissal of any chance for explanation - he would simply slaughter.

Tang Ye’s brutality had been deeply ingrained in the minds of everyone at the gathering place since that day. Although they were terrified, most also held deep respect for him.

Though Brother Nian might not fit the role of a friend, he was perfectly suited as a boss or leader.

All things considered, life improved significantly after Zhang Han’s death. Many no longer had to worry about food or clothing, which led to their decision to support Tang Ye.

However, for someone who kills as easily as breathing, who also has a daughter, it shattered a portion of his image. Such a person was better off being a solitary figure.

Though he thought so, he dared not voice it.

Following Tang Ye, he met Zhou Ranjun. At that moment, Ranjun was sitting next to a woman, massaging her shoulders with a good husband’s demeanor.

Upon seeing Tang Ye approach, Ranjun stood up and walked over to him, respectfully calling out, "Brother Nian!"

Tang Ye nodded and his gaze landed on the woman. This was Zhou Ranjun’s wife, Bai Yujie.

However, since she was rescued from Zhang Han’s underground cell, she hadn’t been quite right mentally. Most of Zhou Ranjun’s time was spent comforting her.

Looking at Bai Yujie, Tang Ye asked perfunctorily, "Is your wife feeling better?"

A hint of others sadness flashed across Zhou Ranjun’s face, quickly hidden.

"A bit better."

Nodding again, Tang Ye handed the giggling Nannan to Zhou Ranjun.

Zhou Ranjun looked at her confusedly, asking, "Who is...?"

"My daughter. I have to go out for a while. Take good care of her. If anything happens, I’ll make sure you die a horrible death."

Awkwardly receiving Nannan and facing Tang Ye’s brutal threat, Zhou Ranjun couldn’t help but feel a hint of fear. Tang Ye had threatened him like this before. Though he’d get scared every time, as long as he fulfilled Tang Ye’s requests, he would be fine.

The moment Zhou Ranjun took her, Nannan burst into tears, startling him.

Tang Ye looked at Nannan, bent down, and gently stroked her head, whispering in a hoarse, gentle voice, "Be good, daddy will go out for a bit and will be back soon."

His tone was unusually tender. To Zhou Ranjun and others listening, it felt surreal.

This unpredictable and brutal Brother Nian, could actually display such a scene?
