Chapter 250: Chapter 248 No Idlers Allowed On My Territory_1

Besides this, Tang Ye sorted all the survivors into small squads which would periodically go out and seek for supplies, but the haul of each trip had to share one-tenth with Tang Ye.

Fortunately, those who have survived in the apocalypse are not the old, weak, sick, or disabled. Big or small, they all have some fighting prowess, except for the few lucky children who are still alive.

After all the survivors were sorted into teams, Tang Ye didn’t bully these children. He allowed them to stay at home while their parents worked.

But why there is always a large group of survivors with fighting power staying here numbly every day? There must be something fishy. Despite some of Zhang Han’s contributory factors, Zhang Han’s reasons were few. Unlike Tang Ye who coerced them into going out to find supplies, it was a matter of life and death for them.

When Tang Ye forced them to go out and seek for supplies, all the survivors were in disbelief. They looked at Tang Ye as if they were seeing a ghost.

In the apocalypse, not everyone is like the ones portrayed in novels or movies - daring to confront death, daring to face zombies!

Fighting zombies is too risky for ordinary people! Not to mention the vast number but even a single zombie, its strength and speed are half of an ordinary person’s!

Furthermore, fighting with zombies, perhaps you can defeat them a thousand times, but they just need to defeat you once!

They only need their nails, their teeth, to bite your body, and that can be seen as an indirect death!

Fighting zombies is like playing the game of rock-paper-scissors with a person. Can anyone guarantee that they will win continuously for hundreds of times?

Obviously not!

An ordinary person, wielding a weapon, killing zombies one by one, killed the first one without accident, killed the second one without any incident either. But what about the third one, the fourth one, or even the tenth one?

Those who always walk by the river, can they avoid wet shoes?

This sentence virtually encapsulates all the people surviving in the apocalypse. They prefer to wait here, starving, even if it means to starve to death rather than face the zombies directly.

They just want to wait until they are blessed by God, turning into a new breed of human who is unafraid of the zombie virus. Only then will they have the courage to go out.

However, Tang Ye forcing them to go out is, apparently, gambling with their lives!

What are they hiding here for? It is to live!

If it’s not for living, then why stay here?

Although they have nowhere else to go, even if they do go out, can they escape from the numerous zombies?

Indeed, there are some people who dare to face zombies, but those are people who are mentally prepared to face death and do not want to sit and wait for death.

Human nature is very selfish! As long as there is hope, they will never take the most dangerous path, and this hope is to become a new breed of human, a powerhouse with countless lives in the hands of zombies, a powerhouse standing above countless people!

Although this hope is slim, it does exist in reality and happens around them. This realization of hope only needs an instant, a glance from God’s mercy!

For a while, the plaza with over a thousand survivors was filled with buzzing chatter. Even though it was noisy, Tang Ye heard everything clearly. Under the mask, a chilly smile surfaced on his face.

"The boss must be crazy!"

"Right, he’s insane! Why should we all have to go out? Isn’t that pushing us to death?"

"And wearing a mask. What is he showing off? Is it because he’s too ugly to be seen?"

"Zhang Han was such a good leader. It’s a shame he was killed by this new doggy boss."

"Shall we revolt? After all, we outnumber him!"

"Absolutely, once we venture out, can we beat those zombies? I surely don’t want to end up like a zombie."

"..."

The survivors were whispering to each other. No matter what they were discussing or how loudly they did so, those armed underlings standing beside Tang Ye and Tang Ye himself did not move an inch. They just silently watched. After a while, these survivors finally cleared a path, and a middle-aged man came out from the crowd.

Seemingly with the unanimous support of the crowd, he walked out fearlessly, looking straight into Tang Ye’s eyes.

Though his face had a smirk of a petty victory, his cheeks were hollow and his complexion was sallow. His body was frail, which was common for survivors in the apocalypse who starved themselves while waiting for "hope" to come.

When he stood five steps before Tang Ye, his heart trembled as he looked at the chilling mask on Tang Ye’s face. He was somewhat fearful of this unusual new boss who, he had heard, had killed over a dozen men in the morning and had directly coerced the previous boss into killing himself, thus seizing power.

He was somewhat scared that Tang Ye would suddenly strike, killing him. With a height of two meters, it was clear that Tang Ye was a new breed of man. As for what he was about to say, the middle-aged man hesitated. He had never thought that he would have to face a new breed of man in a rebellious tone one day.

However, reflecting on it, the thousand like-minded survivors behind him would support him, what’s there to be afraid of? This new boss couldn’t possibly kill everyone, could he?

"What do you want to say?"

Looking at the middle-aged man, Tang Ye spoke lightly, his voice as rough as a demon’s low whisper making the middle-aged man shudder.

"I oppose your command. Why should we go out to find supplies and have to hand over a tenth of what we find to you? You cannot do this! We want freedom!"

"Freedom? What is freedom? You oppose me, then get out! I call the shots here!"

Facing his vocals, Tang Ye said with a cold laugh.

"Why?" The middle-aged man questioned loudly, backed by the courage of the thousand survivors behind him.

He believed that Tang Ye wouldn’t dare to incite public outrage.

"I make the rules here. If I want you to die, then prepare for it. I’ve not even asked you to die directly, I won’t breed freeloaders on my turf!"

"We won’t go out. You cannot coerce us! This is our freedom!"

"Freedom, how ridiculous."

The coldness in Tang Ye’s voice rose continuously. Listening to the middle-aged man’s words, a sense of fury ignited within him. He didn’t like it when people opposed his will. In his eyes, if he asked them to go out to find supplies, then they must procure the supplies!

Here, Tang Ye was the Emperor, his word was law!

These survivors thought they could threaten him with superior numbers, but, could they really?

"This is your responsibility. Handing over supplies, I provide you with a safe haven, this is a given! I am not a philanthropist, I couldn’t care less about freeloaders. If you oppose my command, then get out!"

"You can’t do this. Whether we go out or not is our freedom!"

The middle-aged man kept emphasizing ’freedom’, even when his tone hardened. His eyes remained fixated on Tang Ye. He was scared deep down, but the thousand survivors behind him had given him courage.
