Chapter 192: Chapter 190 Old Wang the Fortune Teller Part_1

Approaching the Noble Zone, Tang Ye raised his head to look at the deserted six-meter high wall that signified class status. He snorted, walked to the foot of the wall, raised his fist and punched it hard!

Boom!

With this punch, full of the formidable strength of a Level 4 zombie, the wall disintegrated instantly, swayed a couple of times, and with Tang Ye’s fist as the epicenter, the cracks spread across the wall with a "snap" sound. Following another "boom," a large chunk of the wall fell to the ground kicking up clouds of dust!

Taking another look at the buildings of the Noble Zone, Tang Ye, Chen Chaoyang and their companion started to walk forward.

The commotion they caused attracted the attention of countless survivors in the Noble Zone. They glanced at Tang Ye a few times, but their attention was quickly diverted by the swarm of zombies behind him, causing them to hide in fear.

Everyone experienced the early days of the apocalypse, and a zombie attack signified the fall of Yindan Base. For now, hiding seemed to be a relatively good strategy.

Leaving the zombie horde far behind, Tang Ye walked leisurely. Unlike him, however, his three companions were extremely tense, casting frequent glances at the zombies behind them, afraid they might suddenly rush over.

With these thoughts in mind, the three of them unknowingly huddled closer together.

Tang Ye noticed an old man sitting by the side of the street ahead. The old man was ragged, his greasy hair matted together, a bamboo stick in his hand. He sat silently watching the street in front of him, not bothered in the least by the approaching horde of zombies.

Tang Ye observed him with curiosity. Although the old man appeared unkempt and had the strong smell of flesh and blood, similar to a normal human being, he might be a relative of a "New Human" if he wasn’t a "New Human" himself.

But if he were a relative of a "New Human," wouldn’t he live better and be better dressed?

Tang Ye didn’t want to concern himself with the man. The horde of zombies would soon be here to rip the old man into pieces. If the old man didn’t value his own life, there was no reason for Tang Ye to either.

Not intending to linger on the man, Tang Ye continued on his way. Just as he was passing by, to his surprise, the old man spoke to him.

"Hold on, kind sir. Would you like me to tell your fortune? Free of charge."

The man’s hair was somewhat gray, Tang Ye had assumed him to be elderly, but his voice was unexpectedly youthful, much like a middle-aged man. His voice was soft but clear, sounding very ordinary yet unusually so.

"Tell my fortune? What kind of fortune? Look over there, zombies are coming, and you’re talking about fortunes. You....."

Just as he was about to speak, Chen Chaoyang beat him to it, but a wave of Tang Ye’s hand made him choke on his words. Tang Ye’s eyes were filled with intense curiosity.

Even in the face of disaster, this man was calm enough to offer to tell fortunes. Since the apocalypse, Tang Ye had never seen anyone like this.

"Tell my fortune? Where? What should I call you?"

The man seemed unbothered by the approaching horde of zombies, and Tang Ye wasn’t in a hurry either. Once the horde arrived, this man would be their likely victim.

"No need for introductions, kind sir. You can just call me Old Wang. Might I trouble you for a cigarette?"

Tang Ye signaled to Chen Chaoyang, who immediately understood. He took out a packet of cigarettes from his pocket. There was only one cigarette left. Offering it to Old Wang, Chen Chaoyang carelessly discarded the empty packet.

Old Wang sniffed the cigarette but didn’t rush to light and smoke it. Instead, he took out a crumpled piece of paper from his waist, one side of which was covered in black paint. After smoothing out the paper, he turned the black side up and asked Tang Ye, "What can you see on this piece of paper?"

Tang Ye squinted at the paper for a moment, then shook his head, saying, "Black?"

Old Wang shook his head in response. "Anything else?"

Tang Ye stared at the paper for a while longer, but something seemed odd. He had the feeling that this old man was playing games with him.

Seeing that Tang Ye couldn’t recognize anything, Old Wang closed his eyes as if in deep thought, then opened them again, folded up the paper, tore it into shreds, and threw them away. The shreds of paper floated in the wind, disappearing somewhere.

"Since you couldn’t see anything, never mind. Remember how this piece of paper looks. Hopefully, one day in the future, you’ll understand."

After resting for a while, Old Wang looked at Tang Ye, who had a mask on, obscuring his expression. He asked, "Do you want to become stronger?"

Tang Ye was somewhat puzzled by Old Wang’s seemingly unrelated words and felt even more strongly that this man was just messing with him. Tang Ye’s eyes filled with a murderous intent when he looked at Old Wang, but he suppressed it. He had a feeling that Old Wang had something to tell him, yet it seemed as if something was holding him back.

He nodded his head, but his eyes were fixed on Old Wang. Even though he was wearing a mask, it couldn’t hide his bright white eyes.

Old Wang saw Tang Ye’s eyes. Surprisingly, he didn’t seem afraid and maintained his air of calm.

"If you want to become stronger, physical strength is secondary, it’s the state of your mind that matters. Only when your mind is strong are you a true powerhouse. If you only have physical strength without the right mindset, you will lose yourself. Do less harm, do more good deeds, in order to attain what you desire. If you cling to your five mortal sins, the world will collapse. If you continue on this path, you will only end up running against your desires."

Old Wang looked at Tang Ye, who seemed to have no idea what he was talking about, and shook his head helplessly. He continued, "You might not understand what I’m saying now, but one day you will. All things have nothing to do with others, everything will be caused by you! What is lost will never be regained, what has occurred will never change. That’s all I can tell you. Now go and do what you must do."

There was disappointment in Old Wang’s eyes, but he managed a laugh when he saw the pink fluffy elastic band on Tang Ye’s wrist. The laugh came and went quickly.

Tang Ye felt confounded by Old Wang’s words, but when he heard the words ’what is lost will never be regained, what has occurred will never change,’ his mind cleared up a bit, seeming to comprehend something, yet he remained somewhat perplexed.

Initially, he thought that Old Wang was messing with him, but now Tang Ye really wanted to understand his words. Wanting to understand was one thing, but Tang Ye found himself walking ahead after Old Wang finished.

After a few steps, Tang Ye snapped back to reality. Realizing he had been fooled, his eyes filled with a harsh glare as he turned around. But there was no sign of Old Wang, only the bamboo stick he had left behind in his rush.
