Chapter 167: Chapter 165: Evolution, Level 4 Zombie _1
The soldiers watched with tightened hearts, hastily unleashing a barrage of bullets in an attempt to halt Tang Ye’s dangerous advance. But to their horror, Tang Ye’s speed remained unaffected, as he darted forward without any perceptible hindrance!
Tang Ye reached out a hand, his face warped with a sinister grin. Just then, a soldier in a vehicle adjusted the Quantum Cannon, and with Tang Ye grabbing another soldier by the collar, fired a beam of azure light towards them!
Swoosh!
A wave of desolation rushed towards Tang Ye’s face. Before he could even react to the trajectory of the beam, he was sent flying back with a thunderous explosion.
Roar!
With an enraged roar, Tang Ye gradually crawled back up, throwing away the charred body of the soldier he had held. His gaze full of menace, turned towards the soldier who had attacked him, his mouth filled with rows of sharp, white, triangle-shaped teeth!
He desired to kill the soldier who was causing a commotion but he began to feel pain radiating throughout his body, leaving him with little time.
Pain as if every single cell in his body was being torn apart!
He could pass out at any moment!
The weapon on the vehicle was unknown to him, but the speed of the light beam it shot out was incredibly fast - something he couldn’t see coming!
The blue beam had blown a gaping hole in his chest. Fortunately, his head was untouched; otherwise, Tang Ye would have been instantly killed!
After evaluating his surroundings, Tang Ye made a resolution. Instead of seeking a breakthrough where the number of people was the least, he chose to run towards the right. He didn’t dare to take any risks, given the immense power the Quantum Weapon held, so he did his best to dodge its attack!
With this thought in mind, Tang Ye transformed into a dark shadow dashing in the direction he had designated. Bullets whizzed past him, along with artillery shells, missing him by inches and striking the ground beside, raising clouds of dust!
The soldier’s training track was now unrecognizable!
Swoosh!
Another beam of light shot towards him, but this time it hit the ground in front of Tang Ye. The soldier must have made a miscalculation while making this move!
Da da da da da ...
The soldiers crazily opened fire, the muzzles of their guns continuously spitting out tongues of flame as Tang Ye’s rapidly-approaching figure filled them with fear. In their panic, they retreated on both sides, paying no heed to their combat formations.
This created a path for Tang Ye!
Without wasting time, Tang Ye darted through the opening like a phantom. As he entered the thickness of the soldiers’ ranks, the soldier wielding the Quantum Cannon grew hesitant, uncertain if they should fire.
Simultaneously, they felt something was unusual. Did this zombie have an intellect?
Shaking their heads, they dismissed this ludicrous notion.
The idea that zombies could possess intellect, after all, was something no one would believe, right?
However, judging by the standard behaviour of zombies, the moment Tang Ye got thrown back by the Quantum Cannon, he should have chosen to attack the crowd closest to him.
Yet, ironically, instead of lunging at the nearest humans, Tang Ye had chosen to run off towards the furthest right, using the best possible strategy to evade their attacks!
Perhaps there were some reasons for it that the soldier couldn’t comprehend. Nevertheless, they didn’t give it additional thought. Considering the altercation that occurred moments ago, it was safe to assume that ordinary gun bullets didn’t harm the zombie. They would need to utilise a weapon with greater piercing strength to kill it!
Once Tang Ye breached the soldiers’ encirclement, he fled with reckless abandon. This sight made his commanders’ hearts skip a beat. However, their temporary fright soon turned into horror.
This was a zombie. If allowed to break into the residential area, no one could bear the responsibility for the resulting consequences!
Even in the Noble Zone, not all residents were New Human Beings. Many of them were ordinary humans, who were either family members or friends of the New Human Beings.
If even a single person suffered at the hands of Tang Ye, it would recreate the scenario the Yindan Base had experienced at the beginning of the apocalypse!
No one would ever want to live through their rat-like existence, constantly hiding from zombies.
"Quick! Stop it! We cannot let it get away!"
"Go, chase after it!"
One by one, the military vehicles ignited their engines. With a thunderous roar, they turned around and sprinted in the direction of Tang Ye!
Upon escaping the encirclement, Tang Ye felt a surge of relief. However, he also broke out in a sweat, for the first time ever. With his entire body feeling like it was being gnawed on by thousands of ants and woeful increases in body temperature, even being completely naked didn’t help cool his body.
His consciousness began to crumble as he stumbled while running. At any moment, he could suddenly collapse, but he clenched on for dear life.
At that moment, his human sense of determination came to his rescue as he endured the prolonged, tormenting pain associated with evolution.
Humans were indeed a grand species. They comprehended that they had the potential to grow and break free from their limitations, in turn making them more robust.
Not knowing how long he ran, Tang Ye couldn’t hold on any longer. With his last conscious gaze, he acknowledged his surroundings and then plunged into darkness, falling into a massive pile of garbage right next to him.
Due to his enormous body falling, the pile of rubbish trembled and tilted, dumping copious amounts of refuse onto him and completely burying him!
The distinct and nauseating aroma of garbage immediately permeated the surrounding air. A team of soldiers happened to pass by and seeing the pile of rubbish, covered their noses to fend off the sickening smell before quickly moving away.
Meanwhile, deep within the pile of garbage, the wounds on Tang Ye’s body rapidly healed. The hundreds of tentacles on his neck drooped down, and over time, they started to shrivel, transitioning from their original bright red to dark red, and becoming even thicker!
Soon, the withered tentacles, like sponges absorbing water, swelled up rapidly. Patches of black-red scales emerged on the stems of the tentacles, eventually covering them completely.
Once each tentacle was fully covered with scales, they all lifted unconsciously. The scales opened like a device, transforming into a sturdy "wolf-tooth club".
The original Y-shaped part of his head started to vibrate rhythmically, as if they were communicating some kind of information.
Two curved hooks broke out from the top of the tentacles, transforming the Y-shape structure into small claws. The central part also split, forming a slot!
The anti-life matter covering Tang Ye’s entire body began to split at an extremely fast pace. As the slots on the tentacles opened, a crimson sphere became visible. Upon careful inspection, something inside the sphere could be seen rotating continuously.
It was a dark red strip!
The sight was reminiscent of a vertical pupil, causing an indefinable discomfort in anyone who observed it.
The scales on Tang Ye’s shoulder disappeared like a receding tide. A while later, countless splits and tears appeared throughout his body, and a large amount of black-red fluid seeped out...
Tang Ye, at this moment, was made entirely unrecognisable by the evolution process!
This time, another drastic transformation awaited him!
