Chapter 1554: Chapter 1548: It’s Time to Deal with You, the Impostor
Tang Ye watched for a while, tilting his head and squinting one eye, a confused expression appearing on his face. He couldn’t figure out what was going on. Rather than saying this other version of himself was floating in mid-air, it might be more accurate to say he was fixed in the air by some unknown force, unable to move to change his position. After all, when faced with a hostile entity—whether it be a high-level zombie or someone of normal intelligence—the logical reaction should be to flee, not to remain rooted to the spot like a fool!
Of course, Tang Ye’s current guess wasn’t necessarily correct, but the expression on the counterpart’s face seemed to confirm his suspicion. Those arms flailing randomly, paired with his face full of terror and helplessness, conveyed his inner fear unmistakably to the real Tang Ye!
"Bring it on!"
Everything he had experienced flashed through Tang Ye’s mind. It dawned on him that this Fake Tang Ye hadn’t been trying to kill him, but instead was attempting to block his approach!
A grin spread across Tang Ye’s face, growing wider and brighter. He quickened his pace. Though his body still felt a bit heavy, having a clear goal and direction was far better than mindlessly flailing around like a headless fly!
The tentacles of "Xu Haishui" furiously chased after Tang Ye’s back, but he paid them no mind, even though their extension speed was faster than his own movement.
As Tang Ye closed the distance between himself and the other version of himself, it was as if some sort of suction force emanated from his body. The black fog surrounding Fake Tang Ye became more chaotic, harder to control. With a single lapse in focus, large swaths of the black fog detached from him and rushed toward Tang Ye!
Perhaps realizing it was futile to continue, Fake Tang Ye shifted his focus to stopping Tang Ye.
He raised both arms as before, exerting himself. As he moved, Fake Tang Ye’s facial expression twisted into one of fierce distortion. Soon, from the dense crowd below, a person was lifted by an invisible force and floated upward.
This time, however, instead of three, four, seven, or eight people being selected, only one person was chosen. From this detail, it was clear his condition had worsened, but this was great news for the real Tang Ye!
Fake Tang Ye struggled to control the chosen person, trying to lift them high into the sky. But as he slowly raised his arms, like struggling to hoist a mountain, his efforts took an extreme toll on him. His skin began to crack and splinter, the fissures rapidly spreading outward like cobwebs. His entire body was now covered in a network of fractures, resembling a battered piece of ceramic.
"Ugh... ugh... urgh... AAARGH!"
He let out fragmented growls, hoarse and filled with a sense of powerless frustration.
The person floating mid-air began to ascend slower and slower amidst those guttural sounds, finally coming to a complete halt in the air, no matter how hard Fake Tang Ye tried to make them rise even a single centimeter further!
Without his control, the black fog around him went wild, like an unrestrained beast, rushing toward Tang Ye in frenzied "whoosh" sounds. The fog surged into Tang Ye’s ears, nose, and mouth, propelling the energy within his body to grow at an alarming rate!
In no time, Tang Ye’s energy reserves became full and abundant, allowing him to move freely and as he desired!
But it didn’t stop there. Even after his energy was saturated, the black fog continued pouring into Tang Ye’s body, further increasing his power. Abilities he had lost began to return!
Within just a few seconds, Tang Ye’s strength surpassed two-thirds of his original vigor upon first arriving!
Behind him, Xu Haishui’s tentacles roared, curling around in swift pursuit, attempting to intercept Tang Ye from the front. The flower-like maw at the end opened wide, snapping toward Tang Ye’s head in a voracious bite!
Unlike before, Tang Ye now found dealing with such threats significantly easier. As the petal-like maw descended upon him, he simply reached upward and grabbed one of the "petals" with his hand!
With an explosive burst of strength from his grip, the tentacle stood no chance, forcibly torn apart by Tang Ye and sent crashing heavily to the ground!
BOOOM!
After a thunderous crash, the head of the tentacle, which Tang Ye had grabbed, sank deep into the earth. The other tentacles around it came swiftly to provide support, but no sooner had they moved than Tang Ye yanked the tentacle embedded in the ground back out!
With another powerful pull, the large, trunk-like tentacle was swung into the air along with other connected sections, flung high and far!
A massive shadow streaked briefly across the ground before the tentacles flew a hundred meters away, smashing into the ground and demolishing a large swath of buildings!
Tang Ye exhaled deeply. A significant portion of the tentacles that had detached from Fake Tang Ye were absorbed into his body once more, causing his strength to surge even further!
"Excellent!"
Tang Ye was in high spirits. Not only would his power likely recover to what it was before entering, but it might even return full-force—like entering the fight half-dead and leaving the battlefield fully rejuvenated!
The overwhelming sense of gaining rather than losing left him feeling elated.
"Alright, time to deal with you, impostor."
After dealing with Fake Xu Haishui, Tang Ye turned around, his gaze fixating on the approaching "Ah Fu," who was charging toward him, huffing and puffing.
With a powerful push from his legs, Tang Ye transformed into a streak of black light, racing forward at such incredible speed that not even an afterimage was left behind!
Seeing Tang Ye rush toward him, Fake Ah Fu let out a roar, his face alight with excitement. Though he was fake, his temperament seemed to resemble the real Ah Fu’s—the type who relished facing opponents head-on. The sheer strength Fake Ah Fu wielded filled him with confidence. A single full-strength punch against an enemy could spell either death or severe injury!
Unless faced with a Level 9 adversary, even upper-tier Level 8 elites couldn’t withstand an all-out punch from Ah Fu without dire consequences. The best-case scenario? They’d be critically injured, unable to walk for months.
That said, this fake version of Ah Fu wasn’t as powerful as the real one. Otherwise, the solid punch dealt to Tang Ye earlier would have been much harder for him to endure. It also helped that Tang Ye wasn’t human, but rather possessed an exceptionally strong regenerative ability like that of a high-level zombie!
Now, Tang Ye no longer feared what this "Ah Fu" could do to harm him. The might of Level 9 was leagues beyond what Level 8 could hope to achieve!
Without dodging or hesitating, Tang Ye charged straight toward "Ah Fu"! Both raised their arms at the same moment, and in the next instant, they collided!
Whoosh—
