Chapter 1534: Chapter 1529: Intense Crisis
This time, Tang Ye did not kill Bick on sight as before. Instead, he forcefully brought Bick back to his place and, in front of Dairya, perpetrated his violence, then killed Dairya!
As the knife of flesh and blood once again severed Dairya’s head, the scene froze, and cracks appeared. After a flicker of light, Tang Ye returned to the starting point. This silence struck Tang Ye hard.
"What’s going on? Is it still the same?"
Glancing around, confusion was written on Tang Ye’s face, but soon, it vanished. He remembered he had missed some things!
In the city of Camberlite, there were more living things than just humans!
"Alright, one more time!"
The blood-red long knife appeared again in his hand. Tang Ye first dealt with the man who was close to starvation, then proceeded with the same routine, killing every living person in Camberlite, including several stray cats living under a pile of ruins. With every living creature he killed, Tang Ye would silently count a number. Finally, when his long knife swung towards Dairya once more, the number he murmured reached twenty-four!
"Twenty-four... truly an auspicious number!"
A blood-red trail followed the long knife in mid-air, but just as the blade was about to touch Dairya’s head, Tang Ye uttered a puzzled sound.
"Hm?"
He felt an immense resistance to the knife he swung, as if an invisible wall of air was blocking the path of the blade in his hand!
His gaze locked with Dairya’s. In her eyes, he saw nothing but hatred so intense it seemed to devour Tang Ye entirely!
"Ugh..."
A heavy growl emanated from Dairya’s mouth, and Tang Ye quickly exerted more force, pushing the blade down. It had some effect, but not much. With the increased force, the blood-red long knife moved down slightly but never touched Dairya!
Ugh... Ugh~ Heh!
The sound coming from Dairya’s mouth gradually became hoarse, then shifted from hoarseness to sharpness. He saw her flesh on her face starting to rot away, revealing the bloody muscle fibers underneath, which then snapped one by one. The sinews squirmed out like little snakes. Her hair began to fall out, her flesh swelled wildly, tearing apart her clothes, and her exposed body was covered with lumps of flesh. Tang Ye only glanced at them before those lumps burst open, releasing a multitude of pitch-black tentacles!
"Not good!"
A sense of foreboding filled Tang Ye as he instinctively backed away. The next second, Dairya stood up, and then her feet left the ground, floating in mid-air.
Heh~
Another roar echoed, the voice swiftly changing from deep to piercing. A storm suddenly appeared catching Tang Ye completely off-guard, blasting him through the building and heavily crashing to the ground.
"Damn it!"
Tang Ye rose from the ground, his face expressing fury, and only then did he realize that his power had diminished by more than half compared to when he first arrived!
However, now was not the time for him to ponder these things; how to deal with the current Dairya was the most crucial issue.
Hastily, he turned his gaze towards the residential building where Dairya’s family lived, but as soon as the building came into view, a piercing scream tore through the sky, instantly shredding eardrums, with the visible sound waves spreading in all directions. The residential building, with no resistance, was directly smashed open, with concrete and rebar scattering everywhere. However, they didn’t fall to the ground, instead hovering in mid-air.
The scene seemed to freeze, but it was not entirely still.
At least Tang Ye was certain that Dairya could move. As expected, in the next second, her voice appeared in Tang Ye’s vision!
Her gaze fixed on him, the bloodthirst in her eyes impossible to ignore. She opened her mouth, incessantly shouting a word at Tang Ye, the venom in her voice causing one’s scalp to tingle just by listening!
Ee-yah!
Soon, the word from Dairya’s mouth turned into a scream, forming a violent wave of sound in the air and rushing towards Tang Ye! The force contained within it made even Tang Ye feel alarmed, but there seemed to be something peculiar about it.
As for what was strange, Tang Ye had no time to consider it at the moment. He took a deep breath, stomped heavily on the ground with one foot, stretched out his fingers upward, and countless tentacles emerged from the ground, wrapping around Tang Ye’s body. But before the tentacles could completely envelop Tang Ye, the scene shattered, tearing apart along with the tentacles that Tang Ye had created!
"This..."
The scene cracked like a glass panel with countless fractures, then fell off and melted into the ground, revealing a dark backing board. This sight was familiar to Tang Ye, who had often witnessed it, but this time it was different. In the darkness, there was an intense murderous intent that made one’s heart stop, and the Dairya he had initially seen in his vision also disappeared after the frozen scene shattered!
The ray of light that should have appeared did not manifest. In the darkness, not only did he lose his vision, the absolute darkness made him unable to discern whether the darkness in front of him was a wall or an abyss. All sense of his body vanished; he could hear no sound, smell no scent, feel no touch; he was devoid of direction, unaware if he was lying down, standing with his head down, or slanting in this seemingly gravity-less darkness.
He tried to lower his head, but the all-encompassing darkness before his eyes made Tang Ye feel as though he couldn’t even tell if he had lowered his head!
Suddenly, Tang Ye felt something, violently turned his head, and immediately saw a pair of eyes appearing in the darkness, followed by Dairya’s facial contours, and the previously chaotic bodily sensations returned somewhat!
"Die!"
Upon seeing Dairya, Tang Ye didn’t waste any words. He knew there was nothing to say between him and the enemy; it was either he acted first, or the enemy would. As the saying goes, to strike first is stronger; to react later invites disaster. Under such circumstances, Tang Ye would never let himself become passive!
With a roar, Tang Ye hurled the blood-colored long knife in his hand fiercely towards Dairya, its blade seeming to tear through space, aiming straight for one of Dairya’s eyes!
The tip of the knife, swiftly moved by Tang Ye’s strength, was about to touch Dairya, but to everyone’s surprise, when the knife’s tip made contact, the scene Tang Ye had hoped for did not occur. She made no attempt to dodge, and the knife’s tip smoothly penetrated the eyeball, passing through Dairya’s head, yet there was no sign of injury in her pupil.
"What?"
Tang Ye was frozen for a moment, his expression grave. He knew he was now in trouble!
Hehehe~
It seemed that Dairya had guessed Tang Ye’s thoughts as she let out a chilling laugh from her mouth, dripping with mockery. Then, she raised her hand towards Tang Ye!
A gigantic palm emerged from the darkness under his feet, like the rising ground, lifting Tang Ye up in an instant. Dairya didn’t attack, but Tang Ye nevertheless felt an intense sense of danger!
