Chapter 1519: Chapter 1514: Game Over

The bullet flew out of the gun barrel and in Tang Ye’s eyes, it moved at a snail’s pace, as if it were a snail on the steps in front of his house, slowly and painstakingly inching forward. However, no matter how hard it tried, its pace was still sluggish and slow!

Subconsciously, Tang Ye raised his hand to try and catch the bullet flying toward him, but his body seemed to have lost control and remained motionless... No, that’s not entirely accurate, he could feel his body moving slowly, but too slowly, even slower than the bullet!

He did indeed see the bullet flying towards his forehead, but his body couldn’t keep up!

Just like that, the bullet made contact with his forehead! In an instant, he saw a spurt of fresh blood splatter from his forehead, and then, the scene before his eyes abruptly stopped. The smashed-in living room door, the wall cabinet cluttered with assorted items, the fine dust floating in the air, the gun in his hand, and the cold gazes of the soldiers, all paused in that moment, halting their movement.

After about ten seconds or so, the scene before his eyes began to crumble, the fragments of these images falling away and fading into points of light that vanished into the abyss of darkness. Now Tang Ye could see nothing but endless darkness, as if he had his eyes closed.

He tried to open his eyes, and to his surprise, he actually could. The first thing he saw was the dazzling sun to the west and the dilapidated Building Group in front of him, and not far to his right was a wall covered in graffiti.

Indeed, Tang Ye had returned to the starting point!

"Did I lose the game..."

The experience just now seemed futile, but Tang Ye was certain about one thing: the key to clearing this "game" was in Dairya’s home, as evidenced by his return to the starting point after "dying" there.

But what was he supposed to do to clear the game?

Could it be that he was overthinking? Maybe helping Dairya’s family avoid being killed by those soldiers counted as clearing the game?

It seemed too simple, but deep down, Tang Ye felt it couldn’t be that easy. Nonetheless, the truth lies in the results of experimentation.

Standing in front of the graffiti-covered remnants of a wall, Tang Ye reviewed the contents of Lu Xiaojie’s letter, his biggest confusion now stemming from the part in the letter about a fifty percent chance of finding the other party.

"What exactly do you mean?"

Looking at the wall, the graffiti offered him little information, and just as he was deep in thought, a sudden noise came from not far away.

"Hm?"

He looked up in that direction and walked over, finding a man sleeping on the ground inside a ruined building, wearing only a thin coat, with his abdomen exposed, his body emaciated. By the time Tang Ye got close to the man, he could feel that there was no breath left in him; body warmth suggested that he had not been dead for long, and there were no fatal wounds on him, indicating he likely died in his sleep or from starvation.

Ignoring the deceased, Tang Ye walked out and looked in the direction where the presence of seven living beings was converging. That was the location of the group of soldiers he had encountered before, but at this moment, they were still a long way from Bick’s family’s home.

"Let’s try it out first."

He took out his mobile phone to check the time: 12:41 PM. Three minutes had passed since he had just returned to this place, yet the sun was already showing signs of setting. What he had to do next was to reenact what had just happened.

If things turned out as expected, he was now like the protagonists in some movies, trapped in the same day. He began to wander through Kimberlite City. In the process, he encountered the second vagrant, handed the two armed robbers a lesson before meeting with them, and asked if they recognized him. As expected, after returning to the starting point from Dairya’s home, everything reset to the initial moment.

Also, he flew into the Sky again, attempting to leave Kimberlite City. After colliding with a barrier and returning to the starting point, he checked the time on the mobile phone: 1:37 PM. This confirmed that the timeline did not change when he encountered the BUG and returned to the starting point.

Through his observations, there were a total of nineteen living people in the city, excluding the father and son duo, the armed robbers, Bick’s family, and the seven soldiers, the rest were living alone.

As Tang Ye deliberately passed the time, it went by quickly. The sun to the west soon hid its entirety behind the hills, and the time once again reached 5 PM. As darkness draped over the city, Tang Ye arrived at the residential building where Bick’s family lived and, as expected, encountered Bick searching for something downstairs. Following the previous experiences, Tang Ye played out his part and entered his home successfully, meeting Dairya once more.

After teaching Dairya to play a game on the mobile phone, Bick called Tang Ye to start eating.

"Eat, don’t be shy."

Nodding his head, Tang Ye did the same as before, picking up a fork and knife to take a bite of a green vegetable, the same taste, bereft of oil and with a dry texture. Tang Ye suspected Bick’s wife hadn’t used any seasoning at all while cooking this dish.

He glanced outside the door, his nose had already caught the scent of the soldiers. They seemed to be making their way up the stairs now. Glancing at the candlelight, he seemed to understand why the soldiers knew about Bick’s family living here. The white paste on the window did block the view from outside during the day, but at night, the candlelight inside would make the windows look brighter than the others.

Soon after Tang Ye swallowed the vegetable bite, noises started outside the door as expected. In an instant, Bick and his wife rose from their chairs like cats with their fur puffed up in fear at the sudden sound!

The same scene unfolded before Tang Ye, Bick saying the exact same words as before and his wife quickly and frantically clearing the food from the table. However, the greedy children refused to stop eating; under Bick’s scolding, one of the boys burst into tears, and the next moment, the door was violently broken open, with the figures of the soldiers reappearing before Tang Ye.

He clenched his hand; his power was still there, and taking down a few ordinary people was an easy task!

The icy gun barrels were now aimed at Bick’s family of five. The atmosphere in the room became tense and panicky as the soldiers shouted, demanding Bick’s family to halt their actions. This time, Tang Ye seemed to understand—they were apparently telling Bick’s family not to touch the food on the dining table!
