Chapter 1427: Chapter 1422: The Painting at the End

Strange feelings hit him in waves, halting Tang Ye’s foot that was about to step forward.

"What on earth is going on?"

He went over in his mind all the details of entering the office building and taking the elevator to this floor, but he couldn’t find anything unusual. He should have noticed something, but why hadn’t he realized anything?

He felt as if his thinking was trapped in a narrow space, without even the extra room to stretch his arms and legs!

After mulling it over for a long time, Tang Ye still had no clue. He simply lifted his foot and stepped forward, turned around, and looked toward the corner of the hallway. There, on his right, he saw a door. However, it was at this moment that a question arose in his heart.

"Why do I want to go to the right?"

He glanced at the paintings on the wall. It seemed that the reason he was walking to the right was to look at these paintings?

But Tang Ye didn’t think too much of it. He didn’t believe there was a problem with himself; he just looked at the door on that side and then glanced at the door of the suite he was in. A new question was born.

His living quarters were on the right side of the hallway, and the other corridor at the right turn of the hallway was only five or six meters away. The door, nearly three steps away from Tang Ye, was also on the right.

His suite was about 122 square meters, which meant that the room behind this door was connected to his suite?

But it seemed that he hadn’t seen another door inside his suite?

While pondering this, the feeling of forgetting something surged like a tide, but he just couldn’t grasp the main point!

"What on earth is happening?"

A strange anxiety provoked infinite fear, making Tang Ye somewhat panicked.

But why should he panic, feel uneasy, or fearful? It had been a long time since he had these feelings. At this moment, he seemed to be not some kind of zombie but an ordinary person who knew fear, who knew some things were not meant for him to face!

His thoughts seemed to be controlled by something, deviating from the set trajectory, and in the end, he could only sigh: "Somewhat interesting?"

This panic-inducing feeling also made some memories in his brain clearer, providing an excellent sense of experience that humans should have.

His subconscious told him, he must not open this door!

The location of this door obviously didn’t make sense, and there must be something behind it, but because of this, Tang Ye stretched out his hand, grabbed the doorknob, and pulled it down, tearing the whole door off!

The doorframe creaked mournfully twice, cracks appeared on the wall around the frame, and everything behind the door came into view.

A narrow passageway built of cement stretched down in an arc, looking like the shell of a snail.

Looking around, it seemed that nothing terrifying had happened, so Tang Ye walked straight in. With each step, his center of gravity began to shift. However, something strange occurred. If he had continued walking straight, he should have been walking on what was originally the ceiling due to gravity, but that didn’t happen. Tang Ye did not fall to the ground because of gravity; his feet remained on the floor, even as he walked forward through the arc-shaped passage without feeling any gravitational pull, just a sensation of leaning forward.

"Something’s not right. What exactly have I forgotten?"

After a while, Tang Ye stopped and muttered to himself before turning around to walk back.

But when he started walking back, the passage that was originally curving downward turned into one curving upward! He was now walking on what was originally the "ceiling," and the "floor" had become the "ceiling" above his head! This startled Tang Ye.

After entering this bizarre "snail shell," he hadn’t walked very far, at most about twenty meters. He had walked upward perhaps over a hundred meters when he realized he could no longer see the door through which he had entered!

At this moment, his previously constrained thoughts appeared to flow a bit more freely, and three words flashed through his mind!

Ghost hitting the wall!

However, that was as far as his thoughts went, describing his current predicament. There should have been other ideas, but none surfaced. This feeling was incredibly eerie.

As the words "ghost hitting the wall" crossed his mind, a spark of insight flashed through Tang Ye. He seemed to remember something, but unfortunately, he couldn’t grasp it.

"Should I keep going down? Maybe something will happen?"

"That’s not right... Why should something happen? It should be... huh?"

A look of bewilderment spread across his face, but soon he mumbled to himself: "I’ll keep going down."

Tang Ye turned around, and as expected, the passage that arched upwards transformed once again into one sloping downwards. He intended to contemplate it, but the feeling of having forgotten something struck again, and he gave up pondering, proceeding forward with slow steps.

He adjusted himself, doing his best to remain patient, but his innate zombie nature still made him grow increasingly irritable. From a casual "stroll," he switched to jogging, and from jogging, he accelerated into a sprint!

He unleashed a bit of his strength, and with each step, his movement became heavy. Along the way, the downward-curving floor cracked under his feet, and chunks of concrete flew in all directions!

He didn’t know how long he had run or how far he had traveled until suddenly, he stopped and looked back to see the upward-curving ground marred by depressions he had made.

Without much thought, he turned around and sprinted back. The surroundings, already in disarray from the damage caused by his strength, fell into further ruin as he passed back through, and the concrete walls and ceiling began to crumble, the falling debris blocking the path behind Tang Ye.

Compared to going downward, the visual effect brought by moving upward in this "snail shell" amazed Tang Ye. But this also meant he exerted even more force as he ran!

Time passed, and it might have been that the "snail shell" could no longer withstand his power. While running, Tang Ye felt everything in front of him twist and warp, and the brutally curved floor became level. He then saw a door not far away.

"Am I out?"

He slowed down, approached the door and turned the doorknob. The corridor’s walls came into view, the wall on the right displaying a series of paintings. These were not the same paintings he had seen earlier. There was a painting of a maid waving a whip on a carriage, another of a hand grasping a partially twisted-open bottle of a glass bottled beverage. On the wall at the end of the corridor by the stair entrance, there was the largest painting, depicting a giant man in a white robe planting a cross on a chaotic graveyard, with a vague figure on the cross. Next to the other hand of the giant in the white robe, there knelt a group of bizarrely shaped creatures.
