Chapter 1404: Chapter 1399: Pupils
"President Li, we’ll take our leave now, take care." Yu Jianghui said to Tang Ye, his attitude becoming somewhat humble, and he didn’t even dare to look Tang Ye in the eye when speaking.
Tang Ye didn’t pay much attention to him either, just casually nodding.
Qiuyue took out several Evolution Crystals to feed Su Sigui, frowning continuously at the slightly grayish wound pierced through her back.
"Hopefully the Mayor will pull through this time too." She prayed softly, nodded to Tang Ye, and then the powerhouses of Bright Moon City quickly left with Su Sigui.
"Are they gone?" Tang Ye murmured to himself as he watched the flock of red-feathered birds disappearing into the horizon, sensing that the powerful presence belonging to Chen Bieli from the research facility was moving away, uncertain as to where it had gone.
He turned his gaze to the heavily armored soldiers heading in his direction, waved his hand, and the soldiers froze for a few seconds as if rooted to the spot before continuing to move. However, the direction they were originally headed was altered; they circled a certain street, stopping from time to time to speak briefly.
Tang Ye sent a brainwave to Ah Fu, and not long afterward, other Royal Court powerhouses arrived in quick succession.
"There are still some living ones below, bring them all up, and make sure no one notices them. Also, take care of those of our kind that were just born."
After giving these orders, Tang Ye left the area, while Gert and others who had arrived began to search for survivors within the severely damaged research facility.
Under the search of a group of Level 8 powerhouses, everyone who survived in the research facility was rescued, one after another. However, upon interrogation, these people’s understanding of the facility was not very thorough. They all worked on the first floor, peripheral members; those who knew more about the facility worked on the second floor. But everyone on the second floor had turned into zombies, and after experiencing the havoc wreaked by two Level 9 powerhouses, even if someone on the second floor was lucky enough to escape Qu Yangming’s clutches, surviving under the pressure of Level 9 powerhouses was difficult.
In the days that followed, Tang Ye also found out what had happened at Cloud Gorge Base during the time he fought Chen Bieli. A massive earthquake had shattered the two-kilometer long Wall of the Dead on the west side. The Spring Defense System suffered significant damage and stopped working. If there were an undead tidal attack during the repairing period, the west side would be the weakest point of Cloud Gorge Base!
Similarly, because he and Chen Bieli fought at a location 1,700 meters underground with thirteen levels of H steel frame as a buffer, the impact on Cloud Gorge Base above was minimal, causing only a magnitude 8.4 earthquake. However, on the eastern coastal area, a giant tsunami arose, submerging the once prosperous Magic City in the sea and creating a huge crater three kilometers in diameter in a wasteland city near the Lan Ou Region!
There was another thing that Tang Ye did not know if it was true or not; experts in the East China Region said that this earthquake’s influence was extensive, causing the Chinese Continent to lose 0.013 seconds in a day.
...
"The Mayor is alright?"
"The wound on her back has healed quite a bit, it seems like there should be no major issues..."
"Why hasn’t she woken up yet?"
"I don’t know either, the rest we can only leave to destiny."
"Leave to destiny? Are you joking with me?"
"Yelling at me won’t help, I also don’t have a solution, what can I do?"
"You... never mind, you go back first, I’ll go take a look."
"It’s better if you don’t go in. The Mayor needs to rest quietly now, although the injury on her back has mostly healed, that stuff on the skin hasn’t disappeared yet."
"I understand."
After Qiuyue left, Xu Tianyu looked towards the door, hesitated for a while, but still chose not to go in. His furrowed brow carried worry. He sat down on a bench nearby, the blue sky signifying beauty, but unable to bring his mindset back to peace.
In the room inside, Su Sigui’s slight movements caused the device connected to her palm to react. She lifted it but quickly lost strength and let it fall again. Shadows covered her, repeatedly experiencing her body disintegrate into a soft breeze and vanish before her eyes from a third-person perspective. She couldn’t feel breathing, but she knew she was alive, her eyes unsure if they existed in reality or imagination, residing between truth and fiction.
Surrounding her was a void, able to see things five meters away. A glass marble rolled forward from a complex-patterned platform, "clink" sounded as it collided with another glass marble, pushing the other marble forward, hitting a wall, then rebounding back and falling off a cliff that had suddenly appeared.
The cliff might have an end, but the blurred surroundings made the bottom invisible; the marble traveled through the fog below and saw a city. It fell on train tracks and was crushed by a train, completely disappearing. In the distance was the blue sky and a strip of cloud, solitary drifting, ready to lose its shape at the whim of the wind.
A pen was picked up by a small hand, the pen tip scribbling a few words on a peeling wall. A man nearby took a drag on a cigarette, pressing down the flush button, exhaling thick smoke toward the window with strange laughter in his ears. Everything in front of him was like leaves blown by the wind, flying rapidly, fading like clouds in the sky, soon losing their prior form.
The pen fell to the ground, its parts scattering everywhere. The ink cartridge flew out, ink splashing all over—seemingly, she saw a figure, someone’s name written on the nearby wall. Outside the window was a canvas shoe that had been washed clean but was sun-bleached and peeling apart from countless days and nights.
The man turned, looked back, the perspective zooming into his eyes rapidly, inside a white fog where nothing else was visible. In a daze, the marble fell to the ground, strange laughter echoed in her ears. The fog suddenly cleared, revealing mountains and rivers faintly glowing, the sky a dusky yellow, two distinct colors clashing as if she was in two different spaces. A meteorite pierced through the clouds, crashing to the ground, large colorful objects breaking through tall walls, then the sea water reversed its flow, light filled the entire world, blocking everything out. Shrill screams like wailing ghosts and joyful laughter were side by side, then in the light, darkness suddenly opened a pair of eyes—blood-red pupils, penetrating every invisible barrier, staring straight at her!
Boom! Crack!
