Chapter 1386 - 1381: The First Obstacle

Chapter 1386: Chapter 1381: The First Obstacle

After packing up, a group of people set out towards the location of Gong Xiao, led by Ha Zhen who drove at the front, while Tang Ye and Su Sigui went in the opposite direction.

Tang Ye watched the flocks of red-feathered birds, coming to understand the Order Guard. It wasn’t that he understood their methods, but why they were controlled by people.

They are not humans; they are merely loyal flesh-and-blood robots, but oddly enough, such beings possess too much power. Actually, the Order Guards don’t need to be controlled; they seem capable of having autonomous consciousness, but it was forcibly stripped from them, solely because they must be controlled!

Someone needs to completely dominate them!

What humans need are powerful yet loyal servants, not gods that rule over them, especially gods that were created by themselves!

"How crazy."

"Genetic lock..."

Tang Ye sighed internally, then let loose his senses, locked onto Su Sigui, and headed towards her direction. When he saw her, she was standing at the top of a building’s staircase, watching a man collecting clothes not far below.

The man’s clothes were somewhat tattered but clean, and his exposed hands bore numerous scars, with a tinge of melancholy between his brows.

Sensing Tang Ye approaching, Su Sigui didn’t turn back, her gaze still fixed on the man.

"You seem quite at leisure, I didn’t know you had this side."

At the moment, Tang Ye’s expression was a bit surprised; he saw a cigarette pinched between Su Sigui’s fingers, and her demeanor didn’t seem like that of a woman who smoked, yet there was something intriguing about her holding the cigarette now.

Hearing Tang Ye’s words, Su Sigui chuckled and tilted her chin up, "Did you see that man?"

Tang Ye glanced over and shook his head: "I don’t pay too much attention to many people."

"Good and evil exist at all times, even in an apocalypse. That man is one of the few good ones."

"Good? What has he done?"

"This building belongs to him, he lets homeless people live here for free and asks the residents for some daily necessities occasionally. People’s minds are complex, their understanding of good and evil is also muddled; what’s beneficial to them is good, what’s detrimental to them is evil. Some may appear to do good deeds beneficial to many, but in reality, their hearts are filled with filth. For me, judging right from wrong isn’t about what they think, but what they do."

"Many people don’t understand him; he has a strange hobby, which is what he’s doing now."

"His hobby is doing laundry?"

"Yes, his wife turned into a zombie in front of him and was killed by his own hands, I don’t know the details about his wife, but ever since then, he has had a compulsion for cleanliness."

"What do you want to say?"

"People’s strange behaviors are often caused by past experiences, do you get what I mean?"

"Forget it, I’m not interested in this, oh yes, do you know what all these red-feathered birds are about?" Tang Ye looked towards the large groups of red-feathered birds flying in the air, asking Su Sigui.

Su Sigui glanced over and shook her head, "I don’t know, perhaps my appearance changed something, these red-feathered birds didn’t exist in the original timeline."

"I feel like you don’t know anything. What kind of transmigrator are you?"

"Have you heard of the butterfly effect? Never mind, you wouldn’t understand. Only I understand this feeling. Maybe just a different expression from me could impact a future major event, this is the hardest to control, these unknown red-feathered birds are just one of those instances."

"Maybe we’ll only find out by entering that research facility, those red-feathered birds seem related to the secrets inside."

"Are you ready?"

"Yeah, there’s nothing much to prepare, right?"

"True, too much effort might just be wasted."

Su Sigui nodded, stubbed out her cigarette butt, walked to the edge of the building, and turned back to Tang Ye, "I’m going ahead."

"Alright, see you later."

Meanwhile, Ha Zhen had already arrived near the destination, Bai Huipeng looked around and couldn’t help but say, "They haven’t arrived yet, have they?"

"They are already here," said Ha Zhen.

"Where are they?"

"Over there."

Ha Zhen pointed in a direction, precisely towards the Nutrient Processing Factory.

"They’re quick."

"They don’t drive, of course they’re quick."

"It seems everyone here has been driven away, and no one notices this place? Those at Cloud Gorge Base don’t seem very united either, do they?"

"Hmph, then do you know why that damned research facility was built here?"

"True, if something were to happen, the people within this area are irrelevant."

Ha Zhen and the others chatted for a while, soon Chu Zha, Li Man, and Yan Xing arrived.

Yan Xing saw Ha Zhen and asked, "You weren’t surveilled, right?"

"No, how about you?"

"We were spotted by a drone when we arrived, but I took it down."

"That’s good, as long as those people don’t know we’re coming here."

"Sigh, where are Yu Jianghui and the others, and the mayor?"

"Those you mentioned should already be inside the factory, as for Khan and your mayor, I don’t know where they are."

"Let’s wait for them."

After a while of gathering together and chatting, the group entered the factory and soon met up with the others inside. Not long after, Su Sigui and Tang Ye arrived as well.

"Let’s go, no need to waste time," said Tang Ye, leading everyone swiftly towards the area Gong Xiao had passed, quickly moving through countless workshops to a laboratory that was about fifty square meters.

Yan Xing quickly scanned the room, furrowing his brows; he couldn’t see this place as any kind of entrance, which made him skeptical.

Beside him, Su Sigui took a glance, and the next second, the atmosphere among the group immediately felt strange.

Li Man spoke up first, "Hey, looks like the first obstacle has arrived."

In their sensory range, a presence suddenly appeared, descending from above. They quickly located it, coming before a hidden elevator door.

"Our leader?"

"Get started, no need to save face."

"Good, that reassures me," laughed Li Man; his arm’s skin began to crackle, and strands of red flesh extended towards his fist, lengthening continuously until they formed a giant spike!

He swung his spiked arm fiercely towards the wall. The wall, seemingly robust, crumbled like tofu in front of him and shattered in an instant!

"I’m going in first!"
