Chapter 1344: Chapter 1339: There’s Something to Do Again
As their powers interacted with each other, the force transmitted from their hands to their feet, and then from their feet to the ground, causing the already dirty surface to crack and sink rapidly!
Finally, the samurai sword in Kimura Arata’s hands could no longer withstand the force of two Level 8 New Humans and shattered with a loud "bang."
"Urgh! Broken!"
A series of syllables escaped Kimura Arata’s mouth as he struggled, lifting the broken blade and smashing it onto Chu Zha’s chest, slicing open a wound from which blood poured.
"It hurts a bit!"
Chu Zha sneered coldly, reaching out his hand to grab his opponent’s neck, lifting him up, and then slamming him heavily onto the ground!
Boom!
Kimura Arata tried to stand up, but the next second Chu Zha kicked him away.
He touched the long wound on his chest, inflicted by Kimura Arata with the broken sword, and the pain made his facial expression somewhat gruesome.
"I’m really not in the mood to play with you anymore."
He watched as the woman entered the old residential building, seemingly taking note of the place, and then, without waiting for Kimura Arata to get up, he covered his wound and swiftly left.
Seeing this, Kimura Arata sighed in relief. He didn’t pursue but quickly gathered the fragments of his sword and left. His only purpose here was to prevent anyone from following that woman. Now that she was gone, he had to leave quickly as well. Otherwise, it wouldn’t be long before someone would come to check what had happened here, and he definitely could not let his identity be exposed. Being seen would spell disaster for the Japanese people.
And he had no idea that in a hidden place, a zombie was watching the woman’s every move in a direction he could never imagine until his dying breath.
Indeed, as Tu-E predicted, the woman stayed inside the old residential building for a while, then quickly ran out. She observed her surroundings, making sure no one was following her before she headed toward her real destination. But even now, she still didn’t let down her guard.
As she moved, the people around her multiplied, and the streets became increasingly crowded. Tu-E suspected that everyone here knew her, and this sudden guess arose because in the past, the woman must have suffered countless harassments. Here, people only glanced at her before immediately shifting their gaze away. Isn’t this reaction typical of someone whose face has become familiar in a certain place over time?
He controlled the insects emerging from his body, closely following her. However, as she arrived at a place called "Fashion Street," Tu-E’s expression turned strange. Before the Apocalypse, this should have been a bustling area, famous for clothing sales. The architecture and external shops also confirmed this. When the woman turned into the intricate streets of "Fashion Street," Tu-E saw through the shared vision of the insects that she turned right and eventually stopped in front of a large arched building with a big "n" at the lowest part of the middle, and a door with much of its red paint peeled off. The insects didn’t follow the woman further but stopped after she had covered some distance.
Tu-E could sense that behind the door, there were many people, mostly ordinary humans, and only a small fraction were New Humans. Besides the woman, a Level 6 New Human, there was also a Level 7 New Human inside.
The sound of children’s laughter and their playful figures reached Tu-E’s ears, his view blocked by the door, but he already had a good idea of what was happening inside.
"So she’s a good person after all..."
Tu-E muttered to himself, but this wasn’t his focus. He wouldn’t give up his purpose just because of someone’s benevolent actions. The real reason he didn’t control the insects to follow the woman was that behind that door, there was another being of the same level as him!
...
On the other side, Ah Fu and his group, who had just left, hadn’t gone far before they abruptly stopped. They exchanged glances, uncertainly saying, "She hasn’t left, has she?"
"She won’t get far! Chase!"
Abeng covered his ears, "Looks like we’ve got some work to do, haha."
"Sigh, why hasn’t Brother Xu arrived?"
"He’s a bit far from us, let’s move ahead."
"Let’s go."
...
Near the Mining Hospital, Tang Ye with one hand pinned a Level 8 New Human against the wall, terror in his gaze. People kept passing by Tang Ye from behind, but their eyes seemed blind, as if they couldn’t see him or Tang Ye at all, even as soldiers hurried past right in front of them, naturally walking by without noticing the scene before them.
"I’m here! Are you blind?"
He yelled at the top of his lungs, but it was as if only he could hear himself, not a single person turning their attention that way. He didn’t understand what was happening, the eerie scene instilled a deep fear in him.
And this man before him, his gaze fixed on him, made his heart feel as if it were about to leap from his throat.
What on earth has happened, why can’t these people see me? Why can’t they hear my voice?
"Stop shouting, it’s useless. Next question, are you and those two the only ones who know about Xi Qing?"
"Yeah, right!"
He hastily answered, then added, "Li Henian, calm down. Killing me won’t do you any good. I know you have many strong people under you, but you don’t like trouble, right?"
"Of course." Tang Ye nodded, not denying it.
"Then let me go, and I’ll act as if nothing happened."
"No, I still have questions to ask. Once done, then you can leave."
"You..." Anger twisted the other’s face, but as he remembered something, he resignedly asked, "What else do you want to ask?"
Tang Ye thought for a moment, not immediately asking but looking towards where Su Sigui was. She had already left, heading somewhere unknown, likely with a plan in mind to carry out. Her goal was the purifier Lin Jie spoke of, and his goal was Lin Jie himself. As for the purifier, he could leave that to Xu Haishui and the others.
"What was Xi Qing’s name before?"
"She didn’t tell me."
"Okay, are you sure the person Lin Jie is looking for is her?"
"It’s highly likely, because she has been avoiding Lin Jie, and the name Xi Qing, she’s been using for over ten years now, starting before the Apocalypse."
Tang Ye fell silent for a moment, his quiet casting immense pressure on the Level 8 New Human before him, because he had no clue what Tang Ye was thinking.
After nearly ten seconds, Tang Ye suddenly uttered words that made his heart constrict intensely.
"Those two are already dead, from now on, only you and I know that the person Lin Jie should be looking for is Xi Qing."
